    been watching your videos.
    I'm a CNA and i feel like i needed a second job which does on computer... I've used to work in a Doctor's office that do referrals and codes.
    Maybe Medical Coding is a good choice.

    So quick question- I am a medical professional with a degree. I'm a medical & surgical technologist in the field of Ophthalmology with 20 yrs clinical/surgical experienceI. I have a great deal of knowledge of medical Dx codes, surgical procedure codes and application for nearly 20 yrs. I am needing to get into a non-patient facing career; working remotely and utilize my very extensive education and medical background- and medical coding seems to be a very good fit for me. I would expect not to be treated as a "no experience" individual after passing my CPC, due to my degree and extensive medical/surgical background. Any assessment of this or advice?

    How much typing (like full text/paragraphs) is there? What are your final outputs? Like typing codes for each chart?

    I am 2 months into the Preppy cert. I am 60 years young and quite tech savy actually. I am embracig the role of AI and frankly hoping to be using all electronic systems, e.g. AI, coding E books and whatever other tools available. It just makes sense to me to approach everything at entry level as if it will all be online, cloud based or electronic and not traditional, so to speak. Any thoughts?

      Firstly, kudos to you for diving into the Preppy program! I agree with your perspective. As our world becomes increasingly digital, it's wise to be prepared for a predominantly online and cloud-based future in the medical coding realm. Leveraging technology, especially in this field, not only enhances efficiency but also accuracy. Plus cost savings for employers not having to ship huge books out everywhere! Good luck with your studies!! 🍀🍀

    I was in the middle of the masterclass and I was receiving some good info, but a 4minute countdown to receive $100 off popped up on the side of the webpage. I ignored it since I just wanted to get the info and then make a decision, but as soon as the timer hit 0:00, the webpage went to a diff screen and since there is no back or forward button, I can't finish the masterclass video without rewatching 25minutes, with no guarantee that it won't happen again. Highly annoying.

    Can you be a auditor and never have been a medical coder? Can auditing be your first job out after getting CPC?

    • @ContempoCoding
      @ContempoCoding  10 месяцев назад +2

      Generally speaking, auditing is considered a master-level position in the field of medical coding. It's typically a role that people move into after gaining several years of experience as a medical coder. Auditors are expected to have a deep and comprehensive understanding of coding guidelines, compliance, and other aspects of the healthcare revenue cycle, which usually comes with experience.
      So while you technically could aim to become an auditor immediately after obtaining your CPC, it's highly unlikely that you'd be hired for such a position without first gaining hands-on experience in medical coding. Employers usually look for candidates who have a strong foundation and several years of coding experience for auditing roles.

    Do auditors have a quota? Or CPH?

    Can you help me understand something? My instructor said I should be fine but I am not sure.
    For my college class, we used the code book for 2022. If I take my exam in September, will it be ok to use my 2022 book?

    • @ContempoCoding
      @ContempoCoding  Год назад

      You are still permitted to use the 2022 book but may be at a disadvantage due to code changes. The exam will be based on 2023 codes starting January 1. Most of the evaluation and management section has changed since 2022 as well. I would direct you to the guidance provided by the AAPC:
      www.aapc.com/certification/faq.aspx
      " What year's books should I use?
      All AAPC exams are based on the current calendar year’s code sets, so we strongly suggest you use the current year’s books. The previous calendar year’s books may be used on an exam, but you would be at obvious disadvantage doing so. The upcoming year’s books are not allowed for exam use. The exams are updated every January for the new code sets.
      Note: Please make sure you are now using ICD-10 CM or ICD-10 PCS when needed."

      @@ContempoCoding So if I take it before January 1 then the 2023 codes will not be in effect?

    Short answer lol why did you choose office space over home. I saw video on space, was social media big part??

    • @ContempoCoding

      My home office is small and doesn't have the lighting and all the needs I have for social media. In addition, I have a lot of at-home distractions -- kids, fiance, dog, wanting to run and check out all my Amazon packages...

    I’m thinking about CPC courses. I saw that AMCI offers a dual CPC and CCS certification course. However I’m not sure about their accreditation. I already have a bachelor’s degree in Business Admin. I’m just concerned that AI will affect this industry in the future and job security. I’m currently binging your videos after work.
    I’d love anyone’s input or advice! It would be tremendously helpful.

    • @ContempoCoding
      @ContempoCoding  Год назад

      There is no required classes to sit for the CPC or CCS certification so there is no concept of accreditation in training for these certifications.
