Now that I've used this bag (and am packing it this morning for another trip later today) once before on it's maiden voyage long road trip, I'm completely pleased with it. No problem with it or the clasps at all. If you think you're going to strap it on and THEN fill it up, think again. You have to open it up, fill it with your items and THEN attach the straps. I'm sure it's the same for any soft rooftop carrier, regardless of the manufacturer, but just a heads up for anyone wanting to do the strapping before the packing.
I think you are wise to return it as it would be frustrating to have other clips break as well.
i had no issues with the clips, worked very well howeever, tightening the straps were a pain but this bag worked well with the 10 hr road trip , I give it a 4/5 star .
I just worry about how long they will last, first one snapped with ease.. will they last a winter season with the temperature flucuations?

Thanks for this. I'll keep an eye out for this as mine is way past return date and hasn't been used yet.
I'd definitely keep some carabineers on hand just in case, they'll work in a pinch to keep it together
