And just to add... it is so fascinating to watch how fluidly the yarn and needles move in your hands. I can never get a good handle on my working yarn so my knitting flows smoother.
I've just added links to the green sweater on the mannequin and the black sweater I'm wearing - you'll find the links in the video description field, just below the video.
This is such a cute dress. I don't agree with the heart motif though being easier. I rather just knit it on like usual. Can't wait to start this as a new project. I haven't used circular needles yet but it looks easy. That tip for the first row when changing colors is great. Thanks.
If you're looking for information to make the dress, it's all available in the free pattern. Just follow the link in the video description field, just below the video.
@patobejarano Magic Loop is easy to do, but I really prefer to have 16" circular needles for smaller circumferences. As far as Addi Clicks vs. Addi Lace needles go - it's a personal preference. I suggest you try them both. Clicks are what I prefer for most knitting, but I do use lace needles for some projects (even non-lace projects), and I know people who prefer the lace needles for most projects. You have to find what works for you!
@patobejarano I am very familiar with all of the Addi needles, as I own them myself. The Addi Click needles have a blunt tip, and the Addi Lace needles have a sharp tip. It really is a personal preference. If it helps, I use the Addi Clicks for nearly every project, and I purchase the 16" needles separately, as fixed (non-interchangeable) needles. Hope that helps!
Sorry, no - I don't believe it is possible. I sized the pattern up to the biggest size possible, with the yarn and gauge used. Any bigger, and the dress will be too heavy, and hang on the straps. It would be possible, perhaps, using fingering (sock) weight yarn and size 3 (3.25mm) needles (or something close)...but that is a LOT of stitches. I think the design is best as a baby dress, but that's my educated guess.
I love the pattern and had fun making the dress for my daughter. One problem I have, however, is that the border at the bottom of the dress is constantly flipping up! Is this perhaps because I was knitting too tightly when I began working in the main color? I would like to avoid this problem for future projects.
Rachel Wallace - it could be that the yarn you chose is a little thick for the gauge of this pattern. You could try ironing it flat (read the care instructions on the yarn label to make sure this is okay). If you want to make this dress again, you might try adding a few more rounds of bottom border before starting the main color.
Hi Staci. I have been researching and I found the Addi Click Interchangeable Circular Needle Set and it's great but it doesn't have a 16-inch cord for knitting hats. I know you talk a lot about the "magic loop" method to be able to knit with longer needles but, is it easy and quick? So I kept on researching and I found the Addi Click Lace Interchangeable Circular Needle Set that do have a 16-inch cord, but are they special for just knitting lace? I need your advice. Thank you for all your help.
@verypinkknits The problem is that I don't live in the U.S. so I can't find those needles here. I was planning to order the whole package that costs about 169 USD, that's why I need yout advice. You can check them in the Addi Turbos website, and can you explain to me what is the difference between these needles. Thank you.
This is awesome little dress! I would like to knit for my twin girls. How can I get right measurements? They are 13 years old and wearing extra small size. If you can help me with this, will be very appreciated. Thank you.
Remigija Baltchiounas - this sweater is only sized for little girls. If you do attempt to alter it in a size for teenage girls, I'm afraid the fabric would get too heavy, and it would not hang properly. I suggest you find a pattern sized correctly for your girls on Ravelry, so you know that your knits will be successful.
The dress is really cute and well finished the video is good however I feel the sequence of instructions it's a bit confusing particularly to the semi beginner. Call me linear in my thinking but I'd rather see how you start it and everything in the middle until you finish the dress (edited obviously) and after that the special instructions such as count, how to calculate, etc. Wonderful work though. Love it. This is just the way I perceived the video, my mind started to wander around too much.
It really, really depends on the knitter. In the larger scheme of knitting, this is a fairly quick project, since it is a small garment knit with worsted weight yarn.
Diana Lovatt - you'll always find info and links to everything you see in my videos in the video description field, just below the video. That sweater pattern (not my design) can be found here: www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/cropped-raglan-sweater

I have added a Latvian braid at each color transition. Thanks. This is such a cute and easy pattern 💓.

so cute!
I know that, but I couldn't find the name of the green yarn you have used, and that was my question and not where can I find the pattern.
So awesome!!
This is awesome little dress!

Im gonna develop it to an adult's size. Do you think that it's possible?
Where did you get your chain type markers used in this video?
Omg I'm So Gonna Do This
Wow! Amazing! Thank u for the video!
I am making the Fiona baby sundress and I am wondering if I can make the I-cord wider?
Yes - you can just use more stitches in the icord to make it wider.

Wonderful work though. Love it. This is just the way I perceived the video, my mind started to wander around too much.
Can you give an average amount of time it would take to make this?
It really, really depends on the knitter. In the larger scheme of knitting, this is a fairly quick project, since it is a small garment knit with worsted weight yarn.
It took me about two weeks knitting on average for 2 hours a day.
Bellissimo,molto brava,complimenti.......
I love the green colour of that knitted thing behind you. What's the name of that yarn?
Diana Lovatt - you'll always find info and links to everything you see in my videos in the video description field, just below the video. That sweater pattern (not my design) can be found here: www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/cropped-raglan-sweater
It's not the pattern I'm after its the yearn.
Diana Lovatt - the yarn used in the sweater on the mannequin was something I got at a yarn swap party. I don't know the brand or color name.
VeryPink Knits Ok, Thanks ..
Very nice Staci how many stitches to cast on for a 2 year old?
That information is all in the free pattern, available here: verypink.com/2012/01/25/fiona-baby-sundress-updated/
Thanks Staci I really appreciate that
Can you pls help me with the pattern description in the pic...I mean the knit pattern at the bottom of the scarf.
Thank you
Ramalakshmi Pasumarthy - sorry, you'll need to contact that pattern designer if you have questions on the scarf pattern in your profile pic.
How can I crochet it ? please !
Very pretty!!
Maria Mendez
How did you weave in the one end on the i-cord to get a clean edge.
Just poke the end back into the center of the icord.
Off the topic: do you wear purple color contact lenses?
Ha, no...but I like the idea of violet eyes! I don't wear contacts.
VeryPink Knits Your eyes look like those of Elizabeth Taylor’s violet eyes in this video😍
Where can I get a copy of the Fiona Baby sundress?
The link is in the video description field, here it is;
verypink.com/2012/01/25/fiona-baby-sundress-updated/
