I never had the opportunity or luxury to have the gap year. The rule was if you want to live at home and not be in school you had to work and pay rent. You have to take responsibility and not live on your parents dime. They are not obligated to do anything financially for you after you turn 18. Do you stop and think about how good you have it right now? The reality is you need to have some kind of education to fall back on, your parents are correct about this. I don't believe in gap year. Get an education NOW especially if your parents are going to pay for it or help pay for it. Be grateful that your parents want the best for you. There are a lot of kids that do not have this opportunity. If college is not for you then get a trade and be your own boss. That business degree would sure help with that. There is no laying around for a year wondering about what I want to do with my life. GET THE EDUCATION and figure it out along the way. Good luck my friend.
Many kids from other countries take a gap year and travel. I am from America but have stayed in Hostels (in other countries) where most kids were taking a gap year from other countries. What's the hurry to go to college. I went to college and have no regrets other than rushing to get through college - for what?! To work the rest of my life and to be a slave to work. So I support taking a gap year as long as you are willing go to college at some point -unless you find doing something that makes money and brings you happiness. I do think it may be hard to go to college after taking a gap year which is the only negative. But you will be 1 year older and more mature and have lived a little - so go for it! Hope your parents can support you. You seem very mature and smart. I wish you the best!
College is not for everyone. I have never understood this emphasis on a "college" education. It is too expensive and highly overrated. Follow your heart and God's leading. Praying for you.
No not really, there are so many ways you can go that living up to something you don't wanna do is pointless.Esspecialy that if you fail then all you have is debt and no degree 😅
@@kairon5249 yea you won't have debt but your parents will and college isn't just a normal school. Some colleges have low graduation rates but high acceptance rates actually most do.I don't think you understand how rigorous and risky college is and apon that how may other choices you can make rather than making such a risky choice. Not arguing just talking. As a Highschool student I can also tell you that college starts in high school with your act and sat and those aren't easy as well as maintaining a high gpa and most students have very low gpa's
@@Its0nl3Alex ig it depends on where you live, where im at the average gpa is a 3.5. You are making a lot of assumptions. the college graduation rate is 60% (40% graduation rate is not "most"). And most of the people who didn't graduate just dropped out, not because college was too difficult.
That lady at the CVS has no idea what she’s doing. I feel you have a tainted vision of college.

its literally free unless you are in USA. And still you can get scholarships.
It is not free in Britain - the sixth form is free, but not university
Taking a gap year is not a bad idea if you use your time profitably. Will you travel abroad? Travel is a wonderful thing
Oi Malachi! Keep going💪
What about the opposite way around 😅
Quick harmless question; would you say you have a petite tush? 🙂 you can delete this comment if you despise it
Unless you're going into the trades this is a massive mistake lmao
if your parents are paying for it not going to college is a little bit dumb

@@Its0nl3Alex "if your parents are paying for it" you will have no debt ,and "if you fail" can be solved by just not failing.
