Hi Pramodh, I'm about to drive this in the reverse direction in about 12 hours. Trying to find a bit more information because I read conflicting things. Looked like the section starting around 5:45 was the worst with the height, high drops, unpaved narrow road, and no guardrails. Can you confirm that was the Ring Road (Route 1) or was that one of the other roads during that segment (Öxi Pass/Axarvegur/939). I'd appreciate your help!
Hi, sorry my memory isn't fresh but I think it was one of the other roads that you mentioned. It was still being paved when I rode through it. So yeah, we did take a slight detour from route 1
It was partially ring road, with a cut through on the OXI (the high, unpaved, no guardrail portion). I've driven all around Iceland, and the OXI is one of my favorite roads... incredible sights, especially when headed down the OXI. It's nothing to fear. Hope you enjoyed your trip!
@@Wayneright thanks, Wayneright! Yea, I get some people enjoy that, but for a couple people that hate heights, being on the ledge of a high drop and more preoccupied with avoiding falling to our deaths the whole time much more than cancels out any nice scenery we might get to enjoy if we weren't so distracted and stressed out. Looking back on the 3 week trip, I can't say I remember a single bit of the scenery any time we were around any drops because I was so focused on the road and trying not to kill us both lol. It's something a number of people in Iceland were really dismissive of, but I guess they don't have a lot of experience with fear of heights.
Vestrahorn looks a bit sad with all the low cloud :( What time of the year was this? I cycled here in late July and there was no snow on the mountains.
nice weather

@@PramodhNatarajan either way, I greatly appreciate the quick reply. Thank you so much! I'll see how it goes tomorrow!

All roads lead to a subway?
