Sorry to hear about your loss..Flowerhorns unfortunately just don't live too long these days...even the expensive ones are barely making it to 5 years these days. Your tanks are fine, you didn't do anything wrong.
I have been only watching your videos for a little while. I’m getting into the hobby more and I wanted to learn from others who have the experience like you. I’ve enjoyed your videos and thank you for sharing what has happened I am very sorry for your loss. I know I will need to prepare myself for things like this but I don’t know if even the best preparations help when it happens. Thank you for sharing all your experiences and your knowledge.
Sorry about your loss Andy it is gutting losing fish you grew up for yrs , but hopefully now you'll put more work into growing on some more of the spawns you get .
Sorry for your Loss but unfortunately it happens .you are a great hoppyist. Hopefully things get back to normal 🙏 for you. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us.
I feel for you buddy.. I had my worst month in the hobby last month. A full batch of 5cm nasty fry, 400 or so mono bass fry and my female mono bass 😫 was ready to throw it all in. But then my 16 month umbee project started showing pairs was just the pick me up I needed
Sorry for your loss..... the fish don't handle change very well. It could be anything as there are so many variables and they are individual living things and react differently. The best change I think is less or no changes .... for the fish sakes! I'm perfectly happy watching you just feed those lovely fish!
Hey Andy so sorry to hear about the loss of strappy and bob, we all lose fishing this Hobby and I'm sure that stroppy and Bob are telling our maker what a wonderful owner they had for their time on the Earth. keep your head up moving forward all of us fans think you are the best your videos are the funnest to watch we love seeing the feeding videos. again sorry for your loss strappy and Bob are probably up in heaven swimming around with my Red Devil Rebel that I lost last February looking forward to your next video please don't wait too long all of your fans are out here and we're excited to see the next one thanks Andy
I know exactly how you feel mate, I had a stunning 12 inch Rio hondo male carpntis also from cichlids of the Americas there's videos of him on my channel. I had him 4 years and 3 weeks ago he died and I've no idea why, my water parameters are perfect. Absolutely devistated, but luckily I have got 6 of his babies left that I'm now going to grow out.
Sorry for you loses mate😪❤ I just lost 3 days ago my old old Dovii friend Lobo...he was fine then began to be picky about eating his favorite foods. Day before he died he looked FINE, he ate a little bit and was just as ornery as ever...next morning I found him..sorry again for your loss yes it makes you feel really bad...
Sorry for your loses mate! Not a nice part of the hobby but unfortunately its all part of the journey as you know. Hope you are all well! Good to see a video from you again 👍
O No! Not your black nasties. I watched your last video with the divider in the tank. Keep your spirits up mate. We have to in this hobby when things go wrong. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment Happy fishkeeping to you sir from England.
@@andywoodscichlids2942 thanks mate! Got a video incoming with a few photos and a clip of the female. Would be awesome to see a new video from you or everything to know about the Black Nasty :) i got 8 juvies coming to growout
It’s rather unfortunate how brutal the hobby can be, I’ve lost some of my favorites to thing like moving homes to going to shock from a quick water change. Fish keeping out of my hobbies has the most lessons to teach and it’s discouraging when you hit the lows. When you keep them so long it’s hard to see them go but you’re right when you have to move forward and can’t dwell on it.
I had a breeding pair of blue gene Jack Dempseys die when I moved in the middle of the winter. I felt like I wasnt equipped to keep cichlids as these guys were my first cichlids and I got them from my older brother at 2 years old. I got my 2 oscars and raised them from young and those 2 oscars turned into 2 Oscars, an unsexed gold saum (just shy of breeding size), a calico convict in a 115 gallon tank and 2 jaguar fry growing up in a 30 gallon
Sorry to hear that Andy. That's very strange. Carpintis are normally hard as nails. Is the tank near a door way and maybe he wasn't used to the area and something spooked him in the night. May have hit the glass
So sorry for your losses! I had to move a bunch of fish around and I just knew, I was going to end up with casualties. When you said your heart dropped, I know that feeling, Judt an FYI, your feeling is correct, Female Cichlids are the ones that chose when and with who, perhaps she never spawned because she knew something was wrong with your male. Fingers crossed for you, that some fry will be the light at the end of the tunnel.
This hobby can be very harsh. You can do everything right but no matter what u do unfortunately fish pass unexpectedly. Chin up and keep on fish keeping.
I always use polystyrene. It will cushion any impurities in the stant. A small screw head or pice of grit can cause a tank to crack. Best be safe than sorry.
@@andywoodscichlids2942 thank you for your response Andy much appreciated I have just bought a 90 gallon which is massive to me just the tank nothing else off eBay so I am making sure everything is right before I put water in it I have always wanted to keep oscars but never had a big enough tank thank you Andy cheers dean
They usually don’t live as long when they are bred, in all fish. Try to only breed them once or twice otherwise it can take years off their life expectancy !!
I have kept mono bass before. I don't feel I have a tank large enough to keep them. They seam to swim alot faster than Dovii and Umbee, especially at feeding times. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. Happy fishkeeping to you sir
Placing a large fish on a towel to measure it on camera is not doing that fish any good whatsoever. Just the move was stressful enough. Crazy Joe may have had the most of his innings by now and that's possibly fair enough. Keep your chin up and carry on, Andy. Proud of you for including the bitter with the sweet.
Sorry for your loss Andy, hits hard when you lose fish, especially ones you’ve kept for years, keep the head up mate 👍
Sorry for your loss Govner, thanks for the update 👍👌👊🤛🤜😔🇭🇲

That’s tough, thanks for sharing with us though. It’s all part of the hobby, not a fun part but inevitable.
what a bummer!!! I'm not even over losing JCB yet!!
My condolences....thanks for posting
Sorry to hear about you loss. It hurts when you lose a fish that you spend so much time with and enjoy......
It sure dose. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment.
Sorry for your loss, Andy! I just lost one polleni female out of nothing, I feel you!
Sad news indeed mate. Great video though as always. Unfortunately that's fish keeping. I'm feeling for ya from Australia.
I'm so sorry Andy, I have been watching u w Stroppy for a couple years. I feel for it lose, they were such badass fish. I'm sure u will miss them
Im sorry for your 2 weeks. The one sure thing is that itll all get better. Hang in there, Im pulling for you!

Awww, I’m so sorry yo hear about your fish. Stroppy was the star of your channel…a magnificent fish.
I learned in the past that mature fish that stayed in the same tank for a long time will struggle if moved.
Sorry for your loss Andy.

I've had a similar 2 weeks! Lost my Black Nasty Pair... Stroppy, you will be missed!

Sad news Andy sorry to hear about stroppy and bob ☹️
Sorry for your loss 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Sorry for the loss, Seen that Umbees live up to 10 years.

sorry to hear this Andy
It sucks to lose a big Cichlid you’ve raised from a 1” fish to a 12-14” monster.
Sad news mate i know how it feels, unfortunatly as you say it is part of the hobby fish get ill just as we do but its` hard when it`s a real character
never good to lose a fish or two, sorry to hear, lost many over the years myself but thats the hobby. keep ya chin up
Sorry to hear Andy!
Sad times Andy 😢 hope you are OK bud?
Sorry for the loss.
I like your video, cheers
I always thought losing a fish wouldnt be nearly as bad as losing any other pet. Until i lost one... sorry for your loss buddy
The mitochondria degrade in Flower-horns so quickly,
Sorry for your loss
It's always a shock when we loose a fish. So sorry. He will be missed. My flower horn only made it 2.5 yrs.
Maybe just stress from open air when measuring can happen with the big ones sorry for your loss.
Gutted for you Andy, keep your head up and keep making videos.
This hobby can be very harsh. You can do everything right but no matter what u do unfortunately fish pass unexpectedly. Chin up and keep on fish keeping.
Hi Andy hope you are well I wonder do you use foam under your tanks and do you think it is essential cheers dean

Ill never get used to the voice with the face
Damn scrappy RIP 🐠🐠🐠🐠🐠🐠
Stave the fish for a week or so before you move them. It's worked for me
That sounds good advice.
Just as you do before shipping. Thanks for taking the time to watch and for the useful comment. Happy fishkeeping to you sir.
So sad.
I dont know I've not yet experienced it yet unexplained/unexpected deaths that is! I still have every fish I have brought
I recommend to feed strowpy to wolfii
Sorry for your lost. Mr. Wolfy is the same age as Crazy joe?
Yes there roughly the same age. Wolfie's in alot better shape though.
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment.
They usually don’t live as long when they are bred, in all fish. Try to only breed them once or twice otherwise it can take years off their life expectancy !!
dont help messing around with them out water taking size on floor and stuff! we can see how big your cichlids are mate!
RIP🌹Stroppy & Bob. Will it be better to put Krazy Joe alone again for his health?
S.i.p stroppy
✊🏽💯
Sorry to hear about your fish 🐠 yes it’s the worst part of fish keeping 😢
Does Crazy Joe have an internal parasite?
I’m sorry about your loss Andy. I was wondering if you’ve ever considered trying some peacock bass? And if not, why so?
I have kept mono bass before. I don't feel I have a tank large enough to keep them. They seam to swim alot faster than Dovii and Umbee, especially at feeding times.

Rip
4:50 what kind of fish is this?
