For about $25 - you can speed you can cut your card dumping time dramatically. Don't be like me and keep using that old UHS-I card reader! What card reader are you using right now?

Does it increase the transfer speed for UHS 1 or UHS 3 (but not the “UHS2, 3 is just a faster “UHS1 standard”) cards as well?

Good question. I just looked up the specs and since it doesn’t mention uhs-2 at all you won’t see the benefits of your uhs-2 card. It will still work, but you can transfer much faster with a newer reader.

Are you referring to the one built into the computer? On my 2015 iMac it interfaces with UHS 1 and is much slower. I believe the most recent iMac this year does have UHS 2 built in though.
