I dont think taking glasses like that would work on many people. When you are all the sudden blind its pretty hard not to notice your glasses are gone.
I think if they are far-sighted (right that's the one where they see fine up close but not far away) it would be easier because it isn't as noticeable up close. Also, the poor dude was probably flustered and nervous being on stage like that
