Table From Wood Older than Jesus

- I build a table from a slab of cypress wood that was trapped underground for 100o years and was radiocarbon dated to be 2203 years old. Check out the Line up of Bambu Lab 3d Printers here: bit.ly/bambujo...
I paid $6000 for a slab of ultra rare bald cypress wood that is older than the entire Roman Empire. Watch me turn that into a beautiful round live edge and epoxy dining table.

I like the wood base
I like the wooden base better. However, now you can give the buyer the choice or an option to buy both.
Gladiator, wood base. Awesome table.
The wood base 100%!!
I really like just about everything u have made.. and I don’t mind the metal base but it looks “cheap” I know it’s not cheap.. that’s just the vibe I get from it..
but the wood base is beautiful!!
Wooden Base all the way. the Columns remind me of Ceasars Palace and Vegas :) But the Top is Dope!
Gladiator wood base
I like the wood base better.
This has been my all-time favorite video since I've been watching your videos.
Gladiator Wooden base
Why do I like both bases. It’s awesome. I think the columns edge out a point as my favorite because it’s unique like the top.
Wow what an honor to work on a piece that old. Congrats on bringing it back to Life!!
Gladiator! Your creations are amazing - I love watching your builds and your commentary!
Gladiator. Strong preference for the wood base. Incredible build!
You are a good story teller.
Epic tree. Epic build. 👍
What an awesome piece of wood! Really like the wooden base. Great video as always.
Great job Jonny. You are a Gladiator
cool a new jonny episode to go with my coffee! i should really stop watching woodworking videos before i end up with a sawmill in my backyard lol.
GLADIATOR, wood base is may fav, love the idea of using 3d printing in the base design but the wood base compliments this table way better
The metal base would fit into a home with alot of stone and marble, while the wooden base would fit more into a 'traditional' residential home.....Personally I find the wooden base to be a 'warmer' style.
Well said.
Gladiator. All wood base, no plastic is my favourite. Cheers
Awesome project. The story will sell this table no problem should ask for more.
Nice one! This turned out great.
Gladiator, wood base, it keeps it cohesive together in my humble opinion. But as it was suggested by many, let the buyer decide which of the two (or both maybe!) they want.
Beautiful job. Wood base for sure 😊
Wow, absolutely gorgeous! The columns are cool, but I always like wood the best.
Gladiator. Great Job 👏👏👏👍👍👍
go the whole hog... the roman columns is a stronger statement for the base... the table top is stupendous... the whole piece is glorious... much love xxc
Gladiator.... wood base all the way!! Great work per usual 😁
prefer the wood, I would have also put some bondo on the 3d printed bits so you could not see the seams.
looks like the wood base is winning.... I "would" choose the metal base..... great lines!
18:30 I knew a indecisive midpoint change was coming😂😂😂😂
I like the wood base.
You are an awesome Gladitor ❤ love this, but I definitely prefer the original base you made. The other one is a bit cheesy 😊
I like the wood base, gladiator.
Great video
Gladiator. I like the wood base better! Awesome build, awesome story!
You’re a true Gladiator in this one. Plus that’s one of the most beautiful pieces I’ve seen- Jon to Johnny 😂
The wood base👌
Gladiator. Beautiful job. From the UK.
Being buried in mud is, most likely, what preserved the tree. Archeologist have recovered whole, centuries old, Viking boats because they were preserved by anaerobic environments like mud burials. Bog bodies are preserved for the same reason.
Both bases are amazing 👏 the wooden one is the winner for me personally.
I like the bases more then the table top. 🤷
100% the wood base!
Your trip to Rome, seems about like my trip to the UK and Ireland with my son in 2016. We had 12 days and I looked up all the places I wanted to see....and made a list with and the time it would take to get there....or so I thought. Once we got there, and started driving around, there was only enough time to take one picture then or we had to completely pass over some places due to time, and operating hours of the museums and unique places we really wanted to see.
It really is like that, the city is both a museum in open air and people's homes and work places. If you ever do another trip, my advice is to figure out 3 places solid, then 3 places if you've met your quota. It's the hummingbird theory of exploration. You can pick all the flowers and burn yourself out to get more, or... you can just take it easy and soak in a few flowers in full. Take it from someone who lived "at a throwing stone's distance" from the Louvre for 5 years and still couldn't see it all, and not for the lack of trying.
Wood base for sure
Stunning table, Jonny! Amazing work! 😃
I also have 4 cats here at home! One of them comes down from the roof when I call him... By name!
And, BTW, his name is Luke Skywalker!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
That’s awesome!
@@JonnyBuilds I recorded a short showing it, in case you want to see. 😊
GLADIATOR
you need to market those clamping blocks!
Those horizontal seams on the columns are killing me.
IIRC, the radiocarbon dating would tell you when the tree died (stopped taking up carbon), so, yeah, it's pretty old!
And I prefer the wood base
Thank you fellow Jonnie... you've been missed
As always, such a great build, your creativity always shines through. I was a bit unsure at first but after seeing the final result I definitely think the second base works so much better. The glossy black pillars compliment the table top so much better in my opinion.
I just wanted to add that I was a bit disappointed by the plastic waste? I'm only mentioning this because I know you're open to feedback. Of course 3D printers are great tools, the roman pillars in my opinion were a great use of this because you're using it in a table that will probably be loved and used for decades. And at the end of the video you were saying you can print off replacement parts for bits around the house and 100% that's exactly what it should be used for.
However, using it to create single-use tools is pretty iffy in my opinion. Like that shot where you printed off something just to pencil mark cut lines on that piece of steel. It just seems like such a waste of plastic when you probably could have spent less time measuring and marking it off manually. I don't think 3D printers should be used to create single-use plastic items because that only contributes to plastic waste. Maybe you're recycling these builds in some way that you didn't mention, if so I'll shut my mouth, lol.
Anyway yeah, like I said I'm only mentioning it because based on these videos you seem like an open and honest guy. I really enjoy your videos and this doesn't get in the way of that fact. In the grand scheme of things you're really not wasting much at all compared to big corportations and stuff, but we can all do our part.
That is one Stunning Table!! I have to say, while both bases look great, if I had the space and the $12,000, I would be asking you to take 2 pillars out of each "leg" of the "Roman column" base, take the epoxy panels out of the other base and mount them in the gaps.
Great idea!
$6k profit from the table
$15k profit from all the sponsor and ads in this video 😂
Definitely the wooden base. The columns look almost industrial.
8:03 NOOOO WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO THAT BEAUTIFUL LIVE EDGE! YOU MONSTER!
If I could afford it and had the room I would have this table. You could use the first table base for another table. I love the first one. I love both table bases. BTW, I love your work.
I like the wooden base best, gladiator
100% the wood base!!!
Gladiator. I like it better with the metal base.
gladiator! 😀
I like both but the wood looks better to me
9:46 to print it even faster, rather than making all that body behind the face that the bearing rides against, just make a ramp that tapers into a flat (thin) surface. You don't need all that meat, only in the face that the bearings rides against. EVEN BETTER, don't bother with making a face for the ride on, print only the base with risen supports, then glue on the printed part, strips of MDF with melamine veneer. A fraction of the time, WITH the benefits the 3D print's precision, which IS the time saver. Also, especially in such parts, incorporate hexagons as gaps. Hexagons being the bestagons, will save you material and time, while maintaining the strength of the part. I have a rack supports printed in PLA 6 years ago. They're very thin and survive because of the bestagon's properties. PS, if you want to make templates that last, don't forget to seal them up with paint. PLA sucks up water which then degrades it. ABS lasts longer, and if you account for the process, you can even "seal" it up in an acetone bath. PLA can receive a similar treatment, but you really need to know what you're doing with it, because it shrinks inside. A microwave salt bath. It turns the PLA from a relatively easily broken plastic into a very strong one. The inventor behind the process made pressure vessels from PLA. Just sharing a few ideas. :)
I absolutely LOVE the wood base and absolutely HATE the metal-Roman base. Hoping the buyer goes with the wood base. I always love your designs and I understand your desire to make the Roman base.
gladiator; wood base was better IMO
gladiator ... much love xxc
Gladiator… I preferred the wooden base. 😊
I prefer the wood base. Mostly because the column base has a lot of pointy edges and I just know I'd be whacking my toes on them every time I sat down.
gladiator of a video
If it was me I would choose the wooden table legs it seems to not take away from the beauty of the top.
You took a 2k-year-old slab and made an ordinary epoxy table
RUclipsr "Pask Makes" built a knock off domino joiner from plywood, hose clamps and a small router.
Gladiator
I like the wood base better, the contrasting wood with the top blends in together.
Nice try in the Roman column metal base, but it doesn't work.
Gladiator 🇬🇧
Our dining table was £80 shop-damaged in 1981. My car cost £12,000 and the house was £27,500.
I just cannot imagine how much moeny people have that can pay $12,000 for a table. The customer must own a health insurance company...
#OlderThanJesus
This Gladiator prefers the wood base... the other one might suit a marble table top?
I think the wooden base is much better fitting, even for a 'gladiator.'
That table top deserves a more elegant base, whenever you have a very nice top you should use a base less busy. Johnny you always seem to go as wild as possible which is fine you always push yourself to go as crazy as possible, however you should consider that sometimes less is more if you have a nice top. That dude Foureyes always seems to match up his top to base perfectly, it's just his voice is extremely annoying but his good none the less 😅
Definitely the wood base. The other makes it look cheap!
I definitely prefer the wood base. While I really appreciate classical architecture, the wood looks better on this one.
For This Table I will say Metal Base.
Gladiator. Wood base definitely. More contrast with the lighter color. With everything painted black on the metal/printed base, the detail looked...lost(?), or there was too much of it.
The metal base is too busy. I like the look and feel of the wood base.
You can't become a gladiator if you don't put in the reps! I prefer the wooden base but the metal one definitely fits the piece better. I feel like the wooden one would also go really well with a kumiko / koi fish piece as it kind of reminds me of scroll paintings.
Also I feel like my Greek visa would get revoked if I don't mention that you probably meant to say the Roman pantheon not the Greek parthenon when talking about roman architecture
I did 🤦♂️
Wood base all day.
Column base!
the wooden base for sure.!
Loved everything about this build... except the metal base. It's nice, however for this base the wood one is the way to go.
Spero tu abbia avuto un'altra occasione per tornare qui a Roma e stare quache giorno invece di poche ore
GLADIATOR the wooden base is better !
Crimson guitars ben crowe made a guitar out of 45k year old wood, you should look it up
gladiator strong there... almost looks like the color of my wife's Gladiator
I like the wood base better
I prefer the wooden base. I like the idea of the columns, but to me it seems there are too many of them.
4:21 rather than waste all that tape (and your time) look up wide repair tape. Some of those rolls are even a meter wide.
The wood base by far.
Super light on the reveal sequence. What are you hiding?😮
Subscribe to my Only Fans for the full reveal.
@ I don’t need to see wood that bad! LOL
2000 years old wood and total boat black epoxy, this is a crime
$12,000 seems far too cheap
It sure does. My hubby and I were just discussing that same thing. I doubt that would give him minimum wage!
Gladiator Wood base. The other one is too kitschy and draws attention away from the table top. The wood base accents it.
