Man,I am getting back into modeling after years away.I have been watching everything I can get from you.1 year retired and looking to get better. Thanks for all you do.
glad to hear the positive news give dem doctors two thumbs up for me been thinking about a new spray booth work for a stainless steel company 10/12 tears now will put this thing in motion first chance thanks bud scooter out
I built myself a spray booth from sorted scraps of MDF I had lying around. I've been using it for a few months now and haven't had too much of a problem with dust. I vacuum it out before each use, and also vacuum the filter, which is in an aluminum surround (scrap shower surround). I have 2 fans, one is a very old bathroom vent fan from my old house, which worked but didn't have enough suck, so i added a new, much more powerful fan which is ducted through the ceiling and out the soffit. With both fans going it sucks a decent amount of air, but doesn't suck in too much dust. I get the occasional bit, but nothing to sorry about. I added a glass microwave turntable which worked really well for rotating large items. I'm currently painting the hull of a 1/130th scale Cutty Sark, and it fits in the booth even with the bowsprit attached, and can still rotate.
I haven't either Mike. Often times it is better for a host to kindly offer an alternative without condescending, no matter how subtle. To each their own.
I was able to buy the Paasche air booth, 22 x 17 inches, rear electric fan extracts fumes through a four inch dryer hose. This a well made unit, very nice and made of heavy gauge galvanized steel. Works very well with plenty of space for my models.
Also, if you're spraying laquers. You need an explosion proof fan. Very important. I paint with laquers at work, and this is what you need to be safe. Because with all the overspray your litteraly making the air around you explosive. Look it up if you need more explanation.
Don, what if you already have one of the plastic booths, could you maybe line the interior with some metal screen to dissipate the static? I bought a goodly amount of copper screen from Amazon a while back and I wondered if that might work?
Everyone is worried about you big Don! Concern about you is on most chat rooms! Can you maybe post some kinda news about weather you are doing fine? Some people would want to keep this private and we respect that ! Maybe a update is in order! Praying for you my friend! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🫡😎✌️🫡🇺🇸

Yeah, I've been painting in plastic boxes for over 25 years and never had any issues.

@@oldmantech5399 I agree Don is not always right. I seen many you tubes that use wood or plastic paint booths.
