In my 70+ years I've had the opportunity to work around machine, bicycle, auto, truck, bus and motorcycle.shops. Every one of them had a guy like Teddy. Stickler for details, pragmatic and consistent with each task and there is only one way to perform a task, Teddy's way! We need more workers like Teddy in all of those transportation places I've had the opportunity to work in. Attention to detail saves lives as well as it saves equipment from unnecessary abuse by the drivers or operators.
I wouldn't say Teddie is negative..I would classify him more pragmatic than anything. This is a piece of equipment that will need maintenance, and as he pointed out, the zerk fitting on the pintle hitch should have been mounted on the bottom. Having the zerk on top, now it will be extra time and fuss to grease and keep clean (over the life of the truck, that will add up). As he mentioned at the end of the video, he is a professional. A professional wants to operate a vehicle safely and efficiently, and deciding to stay with the Mack makes sense in that he doesn't need to learn all the quirks, blindspots and shortcomings of a new truck. Thank you for sharing his inputs on the truck! As always, great video!
Good looking T800. I have to agree with Teddy, don't blame him for staying in the Mack. I can't believe the lack of attention to detail from the shop you picked it up from, but I guess that's the way things sre now. Nobody takes pride in their work. Good video Mike!
Thanks, Mike! I needed that. So nice to hear from the “World’s Greatest Authority” on all trucking matters. So many WG alumni were hanging on his every word. Hammer!
I like Teddy. Old school like me.. I dorve fir 30 years, Mack's & White's. 90% Macks. I am a Mack guy. However, they don't make them like they used too since Volvo took took them over.
Very nice looking ride. Will be a sharp lowboy truck when lettered. Very supprised there is no cab pannel lights or lights along steps or tanks. Congrats Cardillio family! -From your VT fans
Had a guy that worked with me about a year ago. I saw him check the oil almost every morning. The day after he quit I drove his truck so that mine could get worked on. When I checked the oil it was 2 gallons low. He would check the oil but was too lazy to put any in it.
I had Donovan do some work for me 20 plus years ago.....wasn't impressed then....can't imagine they've gotten any better. Some people just don't get it .....a truck is not just a truck to some of us. Still a hell of a nice ride.
Great video Mike like always/ thank you very much for sharing with us I hope you guys really enjoyed it Blessings to everyone Blessings to the owner of the company
Watching Teddy critique the truck reminds me of my Dad. I started laughing when he talked about not using bigger washers and grade 5 bolts. Truck looks great though. Hopefully Teddy decides to make it his new home.
The truck looks mint i cant believe hes having second thought dont get me wrong the mack is beautiful to but the kenworth is alot better i think i get a huge kick out of teddy hes so thorough which you do have to be being a driver but teddy is just great he cracks me up true old skool lol
Back in the old days...Drivers were concerned with the equipment at a company they might drive for. Motor, transmission, brand ? Today it's " ugh duh ? Will it have a refrigerator? Is there an inverter for my play station?" What happened? That T800 is sharp. I love those extra grill bars & those extra wide fuel tank straps!
I can remember my first new truck. It was not my first truck, my first new truck. It cost me right around $30,000. I went to the dealer and ordered it. Whatever I wanted, the salesman made it work. No package deals where in order to get "this," you had to order " that"package that is not compatible with this "other" package. The entire truck, good or bad, was, when it showed up, as you specified. Now trucks are a compromise from start to finish, cost four or five times as much and take a year or better to arrive. We won't even discuss build quality. Robots aren't endowed with pride of workmanship. Ergo there appears to be little to none.
She's a beauty! Can't wait to see it pinstriped and lettered. We have both the M-drive Mack transmissions and Allison's at work. Being a truck mechanic (in my 22nd year) I prefer the Allison. They are near bulletproof. I've worked for fleets in both the garbage and snow plowing industry and they are rarely in the shop. The M-drives are getting clutches by 100,000km. We lost one last fall at the base I work at. I've also seen the M-drives have issues not finding neutral and needing to be towed. My cousin went through this with one of his twin steers a couple weeks ago. Love the channel, look forward to seeing your new rig. 😎👍
@@TheBostonTrucker you 100% right. He’s definitely old school, going right under the hood and not the cab. A new guy would have wanted to set his phone first!!😂
You had to mention the washer. Couldn't even think on your feet and say. "" Maybe it was laying on the road and got kicked up by a tire"". Nooooo. You know Teddy! Lol! He's a old school pessimistic trucker! We had a fleet of mostly KW's. Curtis, AKA Moose ended up in our spare CH when his truck was getting worked on. Yup, fell in love. "" Mack's a mans truck ""-"" Doesn’t have little baby pedals like a KW ""! They were all day cabs. These Mack's have waaaay more room"! Yeah, Curtis wasn't called Moose for nothing! I think the 800 is nice. But I get it. That Mack had 600,000 miles. Another friend fought not to hand in his truck for a new one because he was close to turning over a million miles on the one he had. Gave the maintenance supervisor fits! Rick wouldn't go on vacation because he was afraid of coming back to a brand new truck. I get it. You understand it. Teddy, I hope you live to 101 and take that Mack well past the million mile mark. As much as he likes and wants new stuff? I'm pretty sure Anthony gets it too. If he's anything like his father. Peace, grease, God bless you all and safe travels.
The stack rattle is the heat shield touching the top mount where the stack attaches to the cab. Just roll the heat shield a little bit and it will stop rattling. I have had 2 do that always the driver’s side also
Mike, make sure those three clamps on each stack shield are tight. The ones on my passenger stack weren't tight from factory, either that or the dealership loosened when putting on the tips. They don't ship with the tips on. Either way my pass shield walked around till it was just kissing the paint. I didn't notice it for a day or two and it rubbed a good witness mark into the paint the whole length of the shield edge. 😢 Dealership said they'd repaint, but you know how that goes. Gotta run it to make money, so that got put on the back burner. It's now almost two years later. 😅
If you’ve been driving as long as he has. He knows what a truck needs and doesn’t need. Today’s trucks are nice but will not last nowhere near as the older trucks he’s driven
You can make the seat glide back and forth easier by making an adjustment. Grab a 5/16 wrench and flip up the seat cushion and loosen the 2 bolts on the seat track on the right side of the base and then you can make the track wider. Then tighten them up when you are satisfied with the adjustment. This will reduce the friction between the roller bearings and the frame and make it way easier to go back and forth.
The Alison automatic takes a week or two to adapt to the driver it learns the drivers driving habits. You have multiple drivers…… For me it was a love hate relationship with the 6spd automatic. Would I buy one……. I’m on the fence. The wanting to take off on you that never goes away you have to get use to it. The T800 I couldn’t drive the truck with a visor that hangs that low. I’m more practicality than look. The T800 being a ditch sniffer they do have terrible visibility. Hard to see where the passenger side front corner is even the drivers side the external air breathers block your visibility. Teddy will be in his Mack till he retires.
Another nice Ride! Teddy is right going to have to change the bolts that hold the toolbox on. Had to do that within the first year of having mine. Donovan tends to go cheap on the little things, check everything over really good that they touched! I hope you guys have better luck with them than we did.
Teddy is right. The automated manual transmission like the Mack's Mdrive. Its a manual, there's a clutch, multiple ratios. The Allison's are very limited. Their good for basic dump trucks, not heavy haul applications. As fast as build quality. Not trying to say anything bad about Kenworth. But the T800 is at the last of it run. "build it,and ship it". Every manufacturers quality has taken a back seat after the covid years. Our new little MD6 Mack got towed back to the dealer with only 4000 miles on it. All for a bad ground wire.
Truck looks amazing. Can’t wait to see it fully finished. Also, I dislike how you have to stand on the brake pedal to keep these Allison transmission from trying to creep forward while sitting at the red light. In our granite Mack’s it’s worse than the t880s we have.
Good lookin t8....... looked like fender will be in the way when pulling handle on fifth wheel 🤔🤔......might be able to pull from under fender🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️.....painted backside of visor would have been a nice touch.......i don't know Mike, but I'm really liking those black tanks..... wouldn't be much harder to keep clean than fenders..... Teddy seems like he doesn't like change very much.... I'm the same way......
Just a heads up but we have 4 new internationals LT daycabs with the cummins and the dipsticks no longer lock when you turn the dipstick handle . Not sure why they don’t lock anymore but because they don’t lock there’s oil on the side of the engine because the dipstick just sits in the tube now .
They always paint over the airbags when they paint the chassis Saves time by not having to tape all the bags off Peterbilt does iit as well I’ve watch the new ones go down the road and the paint flys off as the bags as the bags move up and down Good looking truck Mike

Teddy is awesome, I agree with him on his T800 opinions. It is a beautiful truck tho.
I agree with Teddy on the bumper, the original with the tow pin looked badass. See you in Bow today.
Rhode Island here Mike . Good thing you went with Teddy I think he would of left it there 😅😅.
😂😂😂😂😂.
Mike Teddy is old school. He did everything the right way you don’t assume anything because that might make an ass out of both of us.🤣🤣🤣

Oh wow! 😳
I can’t stand working with lazy drivers.
Yup have seen this a ton.. .”I check the oil everyday!”
Bit disappointing they didn’t fit chrome exhaust elbows to finish it off.
Yeah work with guy like that too.they sometime don't get it the truck pays the bill, not create bills.

Even though it’s brand new, doesn’t mean everything‘s right👍👍👍
Wow old schooler who hates bumper poles myself i like them i know they got sort of a bad rep over the years but i like the look lol
Congratulations Mike!🇺🇸
Thanks for the ride along Mike
Glad you enjoyed it

That was great! A cool inside look at how an old school pro goes over a brand new ride.
Totally!
That T800 looks awesome! Anthony did really well with it. IMO. 👌
I don’t think Teddy realizes how much we enjoy seeing him in your videos!
Totally agree!
That thing is sick. I like that your truck has red tanks and this one has black. They are different trucks. Very nice
This made my day. Been sitting at home going through a rough bout of covid. Truck looks killer especially the way they did the Pintle in the back
That's a pretty nice truck. Great video. Stay safe, and have a great week

I think that Teddy has already made his decision.
@@scottpope162 I do agree with him. They definitely don’t have the build quality like the older trucks do. My boss had to throw me out of my old Mack.
You really have to respect a man like Teddy. That man has forgotten a lot more than a lot of younger drivers will ever know.

Check the Nuts and bolts on the Stack grills. That’s what causes that rattling.
Thanks for the show guys 🍻

Fair enough!
I new I liked Teddy The Mack is tighter of course it is
He's a Mack guy 😉
Nice kw
10 minutes on the creeper could save you from a lot of trouble in the future.
Have yourself and Teddy make a video on the inside of his mack
Donovan Spring Londonderry, New Hampshire
Yes
Those Allison's are horrible on fuel economy ! Good video Mike
They aren’t to bad if you have them reprogrammed and shit done to them same with the Eaton fuller automatics. Some companies got it figured out
Turning the hazard lights on can check them all at once lol
Thought it was just me that had lack of Attention to DETAILS at Donovan Facility.
Too bad.
Thought you might have taken to new trucks to shop in Westminster...
They seem to be focused on details and customer service.....
What shop?
@drewmurphy2796 the
Shop that Mike did a video interview sometime ago.
They were working in Moran's Pete.
They are now using some of the space at Aubuchon Hardware Warehouse.
They just finished a upfitting a new KW for a company from Maine. The guy has a lot of experience and takes pride in the details.
Probably don't close hood with latches on inside
Not a fan of auto-Trans but it is a sharp looking truck👍👍
Nice looking truck but it needs lights below the doors
I wondered how the she was doing you trained her good
The square Lollipop lights on
the Mirrors have a wire to connect them to the running lights as well. There NOT just signal lights!!!!
Final thought...lol teddy is NOT impressed😂 lol

Hi from Dexter🏠Missouri
Awesome truck , why does it look like the stack on the drivers side look father forward that the one on the passenger side
He likes to complain huh?? Beautiful truck... needs some more lights on the steps ..
He’s even pissed off about a free roll of tape
As 31 year old truck driver i must say the truck is beautiful but i personally like manuals sucks their pushing these automactics over them but besides that its nice
If I was your boss and He net picked my new truck like that.I told him to stay in the Old one
Mike is that teddy's new truck
