  • In this weeks episode I spoke to the host of the Podcast True Crime South Africa, Nicole Engelbrecht about the Krugersdorp cult killers.
During this episode we delve deep into the disturbing and twisted world of these killers and the shocking events that transpired.
The Krugersdorp Cult Killers, also known as the "Electus Per Deus" cult, shocked the world with their gruesome crimes and their warped belief system. We will explore the dark and sinister secrets of this cult, the charismatic leader who manipulated her followers, and the heinous crimes committed in the name of a twisted ideology. Through extensive research and in-depth analysis, we will provide you with a comprehensive overview of the case, from the cult's formation to the disturbing murders that rocked a quiet community. Nicole also sheds light on the investigation that ultimately led to the cult's unraveling and the arrest of its key members.

Gosh Ms. Styen taught me English in grade 8 most of the kids were scared of her because of all her tattoos..... But once she taught us she seemed to be a really nice teacher she told us she was an exorsist. Her two children also went to our school Marcel was in some of my classes she was so smart. But she never spoke go anyone just kept to herself I really thought shed be a doctor or something she was a genius (I think she even got a few distinctions im not sure) . It's sad that she's in prison now

I live in Randfontein, and I worked in Krugersdorp when all this was in its final stages. It is an absolutely horrific case, and you always get such an eerie feeling when u go to Krugersdorp, or drive past the flat where Cecilia lived.

I'm from krugersdorp, this whole story really send shock waves through the whole community. One of the victims who was left in his car, was 2km from our home. My husband is part of thr CPF and they were all searching for Hanlie when she dissappeared. I drive pass the house where the people were killed, everyday. The flat these people lived in is right across from the hospital I worked at.... Daily reminders of this very terrible crime!

I think you have it backwards. Because it's such a small population in that town, they have a lot more "weird" events going down in those places. These people have ability to research or even be influenced by certain things or even people and no one is there to tell them they're in the wrong. These people attach themselves to something new or something/someone different that gives them a different/new path to follow.

I'm a big fan of your podcasts, but I had to chuckle at the totally inaccurate facts about Krugersdorp - it was a good one! Krugersdorp is my hometown, and I couldn't tell you where those wild facts came from. But I can promise you that Santa, Harry Potter, and Spiderman are definitely not banned here, LOL. 🤣
I even went to school with Le Roux Steyn. No doubt, there might be a few eccentrics in Krugersdorp, but Harry Potter, Spiderman, and Santa are all perfectly welcome here, no questions asked, LOL.
Note: Please see if you can do something on the story of Morné Harmse - it will tie in nicely with this story as well!

Reeaaaalllyyy wanted to listen to this full podcast, But… I couldn’t deal listening to this woman’s fake South African accent. We don’t sound American when we say our r’s, the “tsss tsss” in her ‘t’s 🤮 and the aaaaa’s in the “saaaands” or sounds rather…. Can’t deal listening to this accent that is so extra. I am South African just btw… it annoys me so much when people go extra on the accent.

Atheism is pretty dangerous too by that logic. Mao Zedong, Pol Pot, Stalin etc. were all at least somewhat influenced by their atheistic worldviews in the massacred they called for, but it doesn’t prove that we can't conceive of an atheist who doesn't act morally. In the same way, we can have religion without danger. It's just that people willing choose to turn religion into something dangerous sometimes, but that isn't religion's fault ; it's people's fault.
