Exactly....I think my flight instinct would have not allowed me to go on this madness called an amusement ride ..but my heart goes out to the parents that is so tragic to lose one's child.
I wonder how many people do end up changing their minds? It is interesting to me that they read it to you once you have already walked up the 264 steps and not before. I have a feeling that more people would decline going on the ride if the liability clause was read to them before they actually made the climb. I guess that the park only wants to take the time to read it to those that have already committed to going on it but I think that it would be a better idea if riders, or parents of riders, were given this info when they book the reservation times (you have to book a spot on the ride apparently). I see no reason why the park couldn't make the information available on a sign etc. or give out copies to those who have booked times.
I have to disagree. Let people make choices, let them make dumb choices even. Freedom means allowing that some people won't survive the experience or will make really dumb choices. You can't have one without the other.
I'm *pretty damn sure* this would never hold up in court. :) It's like signing a document while drunk. It's invalid. You can't read a valid contract under those conditions.
The two park employees who constructed this had no actual engineering degrees or certifications. They just decided to build this. That was established in the court case. It was considered egregiously irresponsible to not have a real architect and engineer analyze and approve the design.
Ben Baker first of all if you need a net on your slide that’s a red flag that the design of the slide is already dangerous. 2nd the net will kill you if your head gets anywhere near it considering you’re moving at 60+ miles an hour. Congratulations you didn’t fall of the ride but now you have no head.
@@bentoyota64 if it kills you then it serves absolutely no purpose of being there. You might can survive a plummet based on the circumstances, but if you lose your head from a safety net then... well you're dead.
@@punisherspirit1288 i definitely agree with you, but to play devil's advocate, perhaps there is slight chance it could save your life, where as if it wasn't there it would be certain death. who knows though, i don't really know what the ride was like, even had they had the right weight and height on that raft. Maybe it was flawed enough that it was certain death either way.
Nah. Don't treat the entire population like God damn toddlers and start trying to coddle and save everyone from themselves. Your well intentioned but act for yourself and let others caution themselves. I may not be a physics major, but that water slide NEVER looked safe due to the safety precautions such as the seat belts and the general physics of the slide.
If you watch these hillbillies on their reality show, they said all of the mathematicians and engineers were wrong and in their own eyes they were right. You're definitely right in seeing how fucked this ride is. Look at that fucking angle on the hill. It looks like a fucking ramp. Bunch of dumbasses man
I'm not even in highschool yet and the ride doesn't look safe it has a bump at the bottom which looks like it could be a ramp this ride was deffinalty not designed with physics in mind. At least it doesn't have a loop de loop
I'm seriously confused as to how they could open this ride after the safety tests had been performed. They literally had a safety test fail the day they opened the ride. The park should be held legally responsible for this. This is just tragic on so many levels. Its honestly a miracle someone hadn't died before that. This is the definition of criminal negligence.
*if we abolished technology whenever a tragic accident happened, we'd literally have nothing. the problem wasn't that it was a really tall water slide, the problem was the design. they certainly were cheap and impatient and cut corners.*
4:13 - Almost the exact same thing happened to me when I was 11. I was on an open tube slide at a water park near Rome, and I fell out of my raft. I then got stuck on the slide, as I didn’t have the slippery raft to help me down. My friend went crashing into me, sending me to the edge of the open slide, but I slid back in. I continued to try and scoot my way down. Then a boy came down, pushing into me and giving the momentum to go down the slide. I was completely fine, not even slightly injured, and at the time, I thought it was absolutely hilarious. Now I realise how unfunny it really was. I actually could have died or been seriously injured. I feel for that kid’s family so much. RIP.

Exactly cause if they are Buckeled to the raft if something were to happen they can’t get free easily ending in more deaths. I’m literally 12 and Ik that
He was probably tall enough to ride, the problem was that the girls and him didn't reach the weight limit so it flew up to much and killed him. So in the end it isn't the fault of the ride, it's the misuse of the controls.

2:57 opening was repeatedly delayed because designers we’re trying to fix flaws in the design? How about not building a fucking jump in the middle of the slide, did you think about that?
It’s to slow down the riders while giving them some airtime, like what a rollercoaster does. Many accounts claim that the weight of the ladies and boy didn’t reach the 400lb minimum, obviously that’s in place to prevent this and if it was true then that’s why they hit the net
@@zachb1706 that humb was one of the safety features as you said. Slows speed. 400 lb minimum sounds idiotic. does not make sense to me that the nets are so close. I would rather they be like 5-10 feet higher and a smooth surface, like a clear plastic so you can see but you are enclosed and there is much less risk of getting caught in between metal poles
Nest Tea They should be close cause it wouldn't make sense if they were high . the raft would fly and might flip . But I do agree on it being a plastic frame so no such incidents happen . And it would look much better
Michelle Jimenz Also if you watch the helicopter shots, you can see the initial impact (decapitation) on the backside of the big hump, that's where the first blood stain starts. He almost certainly had to be decapitated to leave such a significant stain, blood does not gush out of the human body anywhere near that fast otherwise.
But it was. The ride was not designed for a kid like him, apparently the ride administrator overlooked that and the kid died because of it. He was never meant to even be able to get in the ride.
This was C O M P L E T E L Y the fault of the people working the ride on the day of the accident. They're supposed to check the weight of every raft after everybody gets on. There is a built in scale on the top of the ride at the station. They're supposed to exchange riders with heavier ones and put the other riders back in the front of the line. They ignored the fact that these kids only probably weighed about 350 pounds together and let them go down anyways.

No ones ever got hurt going on it but wouldn’t want it to happen to me.
the two women in the back had to be pretty hefty to have reached the weight limit with such a small child. i can see how having all the weight in the back could cause the front to lift up and the crest of the hill...thats how his head hit the pole. there wasnt enough weight in the front to hold it down. he shouldve been in the middle equally distributing the weight. anyone with a physics background could figure this out

RIP Oh and rule number 1: do not build attractions or water slides if you are not a certified engineer or designer.
Implying that someone had a vision before riding it. I mean, the ride can hold THREE people on one raft. A Final Destination movie has *FAR* more than three people to be killed in.
Interesting they (news) are not specific on how he was injured which led to his death. The park does not even know. Witnesses said he was ejected from the ride and witnesses saw blood. The seatbelt is 100% the issue. Very sad. My heart goes out to the parents.
It has to be an internal decapitation because of what many of the witnesses have said and his mother saying "he's not breathing..." My heart breaks for this family and other families where the children have passed in a horrific way.
His head was severed at the shoulders on impact. His body was pushed forward after the raft and his head slid down towards the start of the ride. The 2 women riding with him were both injured by his flying head, broken jaw and broken eye socket. The accident happened because the raft wasn't properly loaded and too light, it became airborne and he was entangled with the netting ripping him out of his harness, one of the metal support bars decapitated him.
When you see the rafts flying off the ride, thats exactly as it happened when the park was testing that slide. I swam at the pool that the Park trained their lifeguards at, so I talked not only with the lifeguards that were to be working that ride, but with their swim instructors for the park. There were always laughing going on whenever our conversations turned to me asking HOW IS THE SLIDE COMING, WILL IT BE READY WHEN THE SUMMER SEASON OPENS. EVERYBODY THAT HELPED GET THE RIDE READY .Like some of the personel that were used as test subjects were telling me that it scared the crap out of them. A couple came out and said they would never again go on it, and that it was a accident waiting to happen. Then they told me little things like it took several minutes just to walk up it to the top. Thats when I brought up a couple of things I wondered about. I know at the water park I go to when there is lightening you have to come down from the ride and I was concerned that if it took you that long to walk up it, then you could not really get a bunch of folks down it very quickly if lightening starts flashing. I also was concerned with the time it would take if you if there was an emergency where someone had a heart attack or any other type of situation where a person needed to be gotten off the top of the ride in case of health problems or seizures, etc. That concerned me also . Picture the ride loaded with swimmers from the bottom to the top of the slide, and you have to quickly evacuate , its not to pretty to invision, and I really did not get a good feeling about safety in those situations. But back to the accident that took the boys life. After seeing the park personell for a few weekends and I always asked about the slide and how was it coming along. It always seemed to have bugs that they were trying to work out, and they were on a deadline to have it done. But again when I asked about if the ride was still launching rafts and dummies , everybody would laugh and no one ever really was too worried about accidents. When the slide was up and running I talked to some friends that went and rode the thing, and they said at the time they went that it tossed you and you were never really stable in the raft. I am short and thats a problem when I get on some rides. The harness that would hold you in fits different on a shot and big or tall person. There is moving room and you are not secure.. but most adults I talked to were not too thrilled with it, but of course the kids loved it. Then as time went on the park added more safety features seeing that there were still issues going on. KNOWING WHAT I KNEW I WOULD NEVER HAVE GOTTEN ON THAT THING.. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY FOLKS ARE ALWAYS TRYING TO PUSH THE LAWS OF GRAVITY...WHATS THE OLD SAYING, WHAT GOES UP , MUST COME DOWN. AND THE VIDEO SAID IT WENT AS FAST AS 70 MILES AN HOUR. WHEN YOU HAVE AN ACCIDENT AT THAT SPEED AND ARE NOT SECURED IN THE RIDE, THE OUTCOME IS NOT PRETTY. That young man was decapitated. Imagine , his brother was not on the ride with him, but waiting at the bottom when he was to get off. His folks had to be faced with having a nice day with their family, then in a matter of seconds ,your family is devastated. All over some ride.. But now you go by the Park and not just because of the virus shutdown of water parks where I live, but that big monster of a slide is history. There was a big empty space with some rubble still there, by now tho it is probably all cleared away and all thats left of the tragic accident that happened is every once in a while a video about it pops up on utube to remind us that another old saying might fit ..IF YOU PLAY, YOU PAY.. MEANING DON'T PUSH BOUNDERIES, SOMETIME WHAT LOOKS FUN IS REALLY A SNAKE READY TO BITE...
My uncle actually tried to get me on this ride just a few weeks before this happened, I was the same age as that boy. I would’ve probably gone on it if the wait wasn’t as long as it was.

Dark Heart or rather, why don't the people working at the park follow their own rules and don't let a kid ride if he's too small? seeing as they're the ones with the authority and not a 10 year old boy? fucking idiot
You should have seen the testing videos. That safety net wasn't the only issue; the whole slide itself was a deathtrap. Without the fence, the rafts would fly off and land upside-down either on the slide or the water. Would have killed more than just a kid.
smooth_concrete agree!! They are extremely safe if you follow safety instructions...
Lisa Morrison They only read the liability to the first wave of riders, after that they dont read it anymore
I have to disagree. Let people make choices, let them make dumb choices even. Freedom means allowing that some people won't survive the experience or will make really dumb choices. You can't have one without the other.
I'm *pretty damn sure* this would never hold up in court. :)
It's like signing a document while drunk. It's invalid. You can't read a valid contract under those conditions.
wait whats the point of the '' saftey net'' if its kills you ?!
The two park employees who constructed this had no actual engineering degrees or certifications. They just decided to build this. That was established in the court case. It was considered egregiously irresponsible to not have a real architect and engineer analyze and approve the design.
If there was no net you would fly off the bloody ride
Ben Baker first of all if you need a net on your slide that’s a red flag that the design of the slide is already dangerous. 2nd the net will kill you if your head gets anywhere near it considering you’re moving at 60+ miles an hour. Congratulations you didn’t fall of the ride but now you have no head.
@@bentoyota64 if it kills you then it serves absolutely no purpose of being there. You might can survive a plummet based on the circumstances, but if you lose your head from a safety net then... well you're dead.

Adults should be able to go off a netless crap shoot made out of rusty boards, with gasoline running down, keeping their rickshaw deadwood canoes afloat as they hurdle through a ring of fire, into a basin of pur Columbian cocaine.
Do you know why? Because that's fucking freedom. It's your life. That's why there's a fucking dumb ass liability reading, when there need not be. The danger is obvious. The adult accepts it as a free person and does it. People die skydiving and cliff jumping etc all the time. Oh let's ban it now.

Gaming Turtle imagine being the family and watching this on the news? Am I the only one who thinks it’s really cruel to watch other people enjoy the exact same ride they lost their son on and other similar rides
Should have used Flex Tape and Flex Glue with a little bit of Flex Spray. SMH...
Hearing about this incident is so bothersome to me. When it first occured I couldn't get it out of my head for days. His age, where it happened, how it happened, everything about this accident is devastating.
Violet Heavensbee why are you so mad that someone has sympathy??? 🤣🤣🤣💀 Get over yourself. It’s embarrassing and you sound bitter.
@Violet Heavensbee SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU INSENSITIVE PISS POOR EXCUSE FOR A HUMAN BEING.😠😡🤬🤬😡😠
@@youarelivein3219 No she's insensitive as all hell.
Americans still sound happy when they’re reporting a tragedy 🤦🏻♂️
I can confirm
Phil Isaak stop complaining, America isn’t that bad.
Jacksen N *Trump enters the chat*
Jacksen N Not exactly great though is it lol.. I guess we just need to wait for Trump to cut more regulations... That’s the key ...
Scott Lavoie So you’re happy a kid died?
When you see the blood everywhere... You can imagine the violence of the scene, that's extremely traumatizing. His brother literally saw him die and the two other ladies riding with the boy were injured. Oh my god poor kid... RIP
Oh and rule number 1: do not build attractions or water slides if you are not a certified engineer or designer.
*God
this is some final destination type shit
I was thinking the same thing
Implying that someone had a vision before riding it. I mean, the ride can hold THREE people on one raft. A Final Destination movie has *FAR* more than three people to be killed in.
by comparing it to Final Destination i was referring more to the gruesomeness of the death not to the actual plot of the movie
Okay, couldn't you say that about *ANY* gruesome death shown on the news? Just sayin.
Okay, by "shown", I meant "reported". Okay?
Interesting they (news) are not specific on how he was injured which led to his death. The park does not even know. Witnesses said he was ejected from the ride and witnesses saw blood. The seatbelt is 100% the issue. Very sad. My heart goes out to the parents.
He was decapitated. Probably the worst way to go for the parents.
+Alex Mauney Yes. I agree.
+lin sioux His decapitated head injured people? I have not read this. What media is this?
This is so very sad. My heart and prayers go out to the Scwab family.
McPepper what Schwab
McPepper me too😭
talesin- god of the internet
🖕🏻🖕🏻
Talesin- God of the Internet that’s awful, God didn’t kill the kid, it was a terrible accident caused by *human* error in designing the slide.

Don't you have paragraphs in the USA? :-P
My uncle actually tried to get me on this ride just a few weeks before this happened, I was the same age as that boy. I would’ve probably gone on it if the wait wasn’t as long as it was.
Guess long lines have advantages.
jesus that’s so scary
I CAN'T FEEL MY LEGS MAN THIS REALLY PUT ME ON EDGE
tinwoods I mean it didn’t _say_ he was decapitated
for real I'm having major anxiety over here. My legs are tingling.
"Fatal neck injury."
That's one way to put it.
An understatement but still technically true.
My family went on this slide about a month before this tragedy. Makes you think how lucky we all are to be alive
loosing your life at 10 is an unfathomable tragedy. loosing your child and living with that reality no words could describe. RIP young man
Losing not loosing. Good grief.
it was really sad that 1 boy must loss a life with this supposed to be fun ride im sure he is in heaven rest in peace little angel!
But does heaven exist?
+PhonePwn Vlogs,Games,And More yes, and judging by your user name, it looks like you have not even picked up the bible, don't criticize my religion if you haven't read the bible front to back, page, by page. Got it kid.
+yousif vaz I didn't really see that as criticizing a religion. Maybe he's another religion and doesn't believe in heaven. So then if you said "heaven does exist" would that be criticizing his religion? No
+yousif vaz also he never said that heaven doesn't exist, he might have implied that he's just not sure
PhonePwn Vlogs,Games,And More i believe in heaven which define as the paradise where god is i dont read bible that much but i believe in our creator who loves us and have great plans for us. :)
The "safety net" killed him, probably would have had a higher likelyhood of surviving if he flew off the edge instead. For gods sake just destroy the slide.
@Dark Heart that was rude and uncalled for
Dark Heart or rather, why don't the people working at the park follow their own rules and don't let a kid ride if he's too small? seeing as they're the ones with the authority and not a 10 year old boy? fucking idiot
Gabriel2005_11 / gaming That wasn’t rude at all...
You should have seen the testing videos. That safety net wasn't the only issue; the whole slide itself was a deathtrap. Without the fence, the rafts would fly off and land upside-down either on the slide or the water. Would have killed more than just a kid.
Umm not really the slide is taller than Niagara’s falls so think about falling down Niagara’s falls onto concrete
I just remembered that tweet saying something like “I don’t trust carnival rides, why? Because you can’t unfold a rollercoaster from a backpack”
Safeeya B that’s why they come in huge trucks
You're telling me I can fall down the Niagara Falls and survive but if I get in a water slide I can die
No
No
No
No
No
A velcro strap isnt going to keep someone safe.
Or a metal netting 😔
What are these Skechters?
And people ask me why i don't like rollercoasters
Aidan McCullough right, so why don’t you like water slides?
stupidasso77 because it high just like roller coaster and much more scary. Anyway i really hate high thing too hahaha
smooth_concrete agree!! They are extremely safe if you follow safety instructions... I was at Six Flags FT for my birthday two days ago (I have season passes so I try to go as often as possible) and was riding one their coasters and I got a huge, black bruise on my arm because of the rough ride. Well, it was partially my fault since The Poltergeist is a shoot-off coaster and i was linking arms with my dad so my arm got jammed between the seas & it hurt SO bad and it’s so sore.
This is a waterslide not a rollercoaster. Waterslides are not as safe as rollercoasters. Rollercoasters are secured onto the track, on a waterslide you, a board, or a raft is just floating.
Usually water slides are really safe.
Imagine going to a water park with your family for the last days of summer to have fun and seeing one of your family members die so tragically
That’s sad man there still blood on the slide lord have mercy
Really??!!??
@@PEACHCHULIP The slide was finallytaken down several months ago once the courts and investigations allowed for it. But yeah, the red you see starting around 0:55 is blood
@@kaylakitchen4897 THAT WAS BLOOD
Kayla Kitchen I’m even more sad than I was before 😞
The ride is closed permanently like for ever they might tear it down
The ride still needs to go through investigations. The park actually really wants to tear the ride down.
It's done.
but I wouldn't go there anyway
too little, too late 😢
My mom used to go but now.... nope 👎🏼
It's ugly anyway
Really sucks sucks when people die that young :(
Totally
I know😢😢😢😢😢
I know😢😢😢😢😢
True 😭😭
True 😥
How mortifying. I don’t want to even imagine what they’re going through.
To God be the glory no one knows when their time is, the sad thing is he climbed up on those stairs and waited a half an hour to get killed. That poor baby boy.
This is why I stick to ‘it’s a small world after all’ type rides.
My heart goes to the boy and his family, and everyone that was mentioned in this video ❤️
The clip at 4:00. Those are proper walls for a slide. The guy was in no danger of ever falling out unlike the slide before with those 2 ft high lips
Rest in peace caleb. That poor boy.. this story breaks my heart and fuels my fear of theme parks. I hope they took or will take the ride down, because seriously this is sick, man. I seriously have no words. My heart goes to his family.
*Caleb
This is why I just go in the lazy river...
Santa Claus actually this summer I went to a water park I was on the lazy river the donut popped and I fell in 6ft water I was knocked out cold for 3 sec then I woke up underwater then I stood up and jumped to safety with help of a lifeguard.
Same XD
I went in the lazy river one time and cut my toe on something in the water. It was like a inch long gash. The life guard put on some disinfect and waterproof bandages and said I was fine to go back in the water. When my mom looked at it when I got home a few weeks later, she said I should’ve gone to the hospital to get stitches.
Okay RUclips, I’ve watched it now, please stop recommending this to me.
@tinwoods LMFOAOSSO
All that blood i cant this is so haunting and scary. My prayers to this family and i believe he is with the lord
Let's pray there are amusement rides in heaven. Jesus loves us.
most of the blood was wiped away with the water so the pool was all red I bet..gross..thats just the remains
The fact that my summer camp was supposed to go here that day, and my grandmother literally told me a weekend before (after hearing that we were going there) “don’t go on that thing, I don’t trust it.” The summer camp ended up changing the water park at the last minute. We heard about this when we got home.
"that's my boy" jesus that's heart wrenching
his mom said, “thats my boy” 🥺🥺
the SILVER LINING is that his dad was a murderous repugnican who murders OTHER PEOPLE'S KIDS EVERY DAY (from Big Pharma to Commie Kops to Fake Wars and on and on)... so it was POETIC JUSTICE that his boy died due to LAX LAWS by the Kansans repugnicans.
Dumpy Goodness bruh what
Dumpy has been making up a bunch of bullshit on here.

"fatal neck injury"
*Yeah. He was decapitated.*
If there is somebody who is reading a liability agreement, on a waterslide were children are allowed to go, YOU TURN AROUND AND WALK AWAY!
