Yes I believe everything they get from you is profit to them that's why they can write off as much as they feel like , people need to realise they are not " letting someone down " by not paying them.

What if they bought the debt and the original debt is over 6 years old
If you haven't acknowledged the debt and they haven't taken you to court to get a CCJ, then it might well be statute barred
