    Puzzle Game
    Developed by Kemco
    September 1989
With this video, we pay homage to the year 1989. Take a glimpse into the late 80s with 8-Bit JMoNo, as he reminisces about just a few of the things that made the era of the Sony Walkman and “Eat My Shorts” so great. More and more homes were becoming equipped with gaming systems and the race was on to see who would sit atop the console throne. It was during this time that Kemco developed The Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle, as part of one of the craziest gaming stories of the time.
Although the game was released in the U.S. as the Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle, it was first released in Japan as Who Framed Roger Rabbit. However, the publishing rights to that particular U.S. title had already been purchased by LJN earlier in the year, leading developers to seek out another popular bunny for the titular role. There is a tangled mess that follows and I won’t get into it here (I recommend watching this video because the narrators are hilarious: • Bugs Bunny Crazy Castl... ).
The object of the game is to guide Bugs Bunny through different rooms collecting carrots. Each room consists of doors and stairs on multiple levels and you must do your best to navigate them while avoiding the likes of Sylvester, Daffy Duck, Yosemite Sam, and Wile E. Coyote. While the game has taken away the Bugs’ ability to jump, you are given safes, boxing gloves, potted plants, and invincibility potions (among a few other things) to battle these baddies. Work your way through all 60 levels, collecting 8 carrots in each one, and you reach Honey Bunny who is waiting to give you a big ol’ smooch for saving her life.
