I saw this tour and it was phenomenal. Saw them in Montreal and in Upstate NY at Crown Point in the company of a Scottish lass whod never heard of Tull and when Ian spoke she exclaimed, "Oh, he's Scottish!" Part of the Machine though was the show stpper!
Both Farm and Monkey got radio play as I recall. I also recall not a few of my friends who didnt like JT really really liked Steel Monkey.. I however was holding a copy of Stormwatch saying come back, Ian, come back.... lol
Excellent choice. I saw this tour in LA, 2 nights. Love Tull, I've seen them 8 times. Happy New Year Lee. I've greatly enjoyed the content and insights you've brought us this year! Looking forward to 2025. Blessings to you and your family!
@@jimhardiman3836 That is correct, Dave Pegg doing double duty. I had a friend who lived in South Dakota at the time. His folks were still here and he won a radio contest up there for 2 tickets for the Saturday show with airfare and backstage after party. He took me to the concert and we got to talk to the band members backstage for a short while. Had so much fun we scalped tickets for the Sunday Show.
“This was no Southfork…it was no Ponderosa…but it was the place that I called home,” was a reference to the “Dallas” TV series (“Southfork” Ranch), and the TV series “Bonanza” that ran from 1959-1973. The ranch on the show was called the “Ponderosa.”
***Perfect Suggestion for NEW YEARS EVE*** Hell, they're even wearing party hats! McCartney & Rockestra -Lucille (Kampuchea concert 1979) Wings final incarnation, A couple of Led Zeppelins, a couple of Whos and a couple dozen others. what more could you want!!!
The best songs are always about the social impact of rural highway construction!😅 Ian was in good voice for this performance. Unfortunately, his voice started deteriorating in the 80s and continued declining, but he could still sing reasonably probably into the early 2000s. The songs on Crest of a Knave fit his vocal capability at the time.
To be fair, the Grammy was for best "Hard Rock/Metal. Everyone thought Metallica would win ... even Tull's record company didn't send them to the Grammys. Tull can certainly be "Hard Rock"
It's too bad that this album has been disregarded even mocked for 37 years by so many people who've never even heard it, purely because Tull won that Grammy. Ian & Co were back in fine form BIG TIME on COAK. I'd lost a lot of interest and faith by that time and then... boom. Excellent record, especially the Part of The Machine bonus track CD version.
Live Tull !!
Wow what a show ❤ Ian is so great.
They played "Budapest" live in Budapest at this show.
I love this album 😊
I saw this tour while in Germany. Fairport convection opened the show. Great night of music
Lucy!!
The much missed Maartin Allcock (RIP) on keyboards.
We have finally arrived at my favorite Tull song. It truly has everything that encompasses the Tull sound. Love it. ✌🏼😎🇺🇸

They were just going into Jumpstart as a matter of fact. Great song /Lp.
The Crest of the Knave tour was fantastic. Martin did some great acoustic work on some of the songs.
The Grammys agreed with you. This album was a winner. I loved seeing this today. Happy new years to your family, Lee.

Universal?
@@jimhardiman3836 yes sir, December 14th and 15th. Were you there?

Never heard this one played live before. Fresh experience for both of us. Rock on L33.
Bonita gorra Lee!
"Said She was a Dancer" got airplay in Australia, but this would have been better!

Tull evolved over the years, but remained Tull. I knew you "got it" first time you listened to Aqualung. Glad they grew on you. Thank you Lee
Crest of a Knave is strong start to finish. Dogs of the Midwinter.

Passion Play is by far my fave JT album. Side 2 can't be listened to at a loud enough level!!
The drummer's name is pronounced like D...own doane as in he owns that car.

I believe this album won the heavy metal Grammy. Beating out Metallica.
That was hilarious!!
