  • I feel this is important, and am disappointed that after 7-months it has only had 50-views per month. Please, like, share. This is a serious problem, and will cost people their lifes.
    P L E A S E R E A D M Y R A N T:
I've seen this same scenario countless times. Under an NWS Warning for any type of severe weather, you tune into either the Weather Channel or your local TV station for information. And the broadcast is interrupted by a minimalist, uninformative plaque you can't dump and blocks you from getting timely information for MINUTES at a time...and in some cases where those minutes could be a matter of life or death! You are not permitted to change channels while the plaque is up!
June 19, 2021, my weather radio alerted me that we were under a tornado warning.
So, I went to learn more precisely the location, motion, and whatever else I could from the Weather Channel.
And they were on it! Hat tip to them for that.
My complaint is that the official alert sent out on the TV is LATE, but worse, it is counterproductive. It prevents people from getting the information they need in a timely manner, actually BLOCKS you from the information you were already receiving!!!!!! Again, this is not a one-up occurrence. It's something that you can count on happening, the system is BROKEN.
The NOAA weather radio is consistently minutes earlier than TV, radio, or phone alerts. If you don't think minutes count, see how you feel about it when you are worried about your house being ripped apart by a tornado.
Shout out to WPAP 92.5 FM, Alert Bay, and Comcast. This IS a problem.
And, Weather Channel, your canned audio announcement every few seconds to note the warning in effect..interrupting live coverage, does not help either! How does it help to repeatedly break the live audio to tell us what we KNOW already, since we were watching the coverage? This monotonous, repetitive, droning sometimes goes on for extended periods while the warning is in effect. It makes watching the Weather Channel to try to get information maddening.
We're obviously watching, Weather Channel, and your moronic, repetitive canned statements interfere with the coverage you're providing!
Again, this is not a one-up...these fumbles happen EVERY TIME there is a severe weather threat!
A repeat on October 7, 2021: We had a tornado warning early this morning. As usual, alerted by NOAA Weather Radio several minutes before the information blocking, useless plaque locked down television reception. Even worse was the automated call from Alert Bay, which came in a full half-hour later and after the threat had dissipated, accomplishing NOTHING other than waking heavy sleepers up at 6:20 AM, after the threat had moved on.
It may not have been a false alarm, but it was a uselessly LATE alarm.
This BROKEN system is going to get people killed.
Folks, get yourself a NOAA Weather Radio.

    Deluxe: www.amazon.com...
These are absolutely NOT affiliate links, I get nothing from any purchase you may make. But, a good weather radio is your best defense. Sadly, your local emergency defense alerts are pitiful. Very much a case of if it ain't broke, fix it. Can you tell this crap pisses me off?

My parish does the same thing with the phone calls and texts. It's very aggravating.
