Just picked up a NOS Pal yesterday with case and original instructions. Loaded with a new Personna 20 count injector. Major difficulties in getting the blade inserted and aligned. First shave was not pleasant at all. Ordered some Schick yellows per the previous comment and will try a different shave angle as suggested. Too early to give up yet😂
The first blade inserted can go in wonky damaging the blade, resulting in a poo shave. Try applying some oil to the head before replacing the blade. Should help get the blade in smoothly
@@John-lc2lz👍👍Thanks so much for the tip. I’ll definitely try that before loading the Schick yellows. May also soak the head in some CLR in case there’s some corrosion in there.
@StephenMcCarthy-tp1vy No worries 👍 It could also be an incompatibility issue with the loader. I just watched one of razor emporiums injector videos, and Matt had the same issue with the pal injectomatic. I know the schick yellow loads well. Hope they work for ya.
Hi there, love the channel, very informative. The choices out there is stratospheric isn’t it. I’ve been using the same Wilkinson Sword twist (butterfly) razor for years upon years and my blade of choice is the Astra. May I suggest to your followers that they buy the sleeve of mix blades and see what works for them. My only critique, very small one. When you read off the ingredients within the soap, after shave or whatever, it gets long. And to be honest it doesn’t hold any value. And what do we the follower get out of it, unless your a chemist not much at all. Your channel as is, is fantastic. How fantastic, I rewatch episodes, that’s how fantastic it is. Thanks. Mike
I remember seeing a review of the Pal a couple years ago, I think it was Subie, and he explained that the Pal adjustment mechanism was different than Schick in that the Pal mechanism worked like a swing from large gap - low exposure to the other extreme of small gap - large exposure Here you go: ruclips.net/video/DEZU1DgXSRs/видео.html explanation begins at 1:35
The gap doesn't change on the pal. The gaurd/safety bar moves in and out, changing the blade reveal. I just bought a second pal adjustable as I'm liking them better against the grain than the schick... and I'm a schick fan. Pal adjustable problems 1. QC issues from the factory 2. Wrong shave angle ( should be riding the bar, not the cap like a schick ) 3. Poor blades ( use yellow schick )
Heiko - Since the injector razor blades are harder/stiffer than a SE or DE blade, you should be able to get double the shaves out of the injector blade than with a DE and SE blades. Yes, the injector blades are more expensive per blade, but being you can get much more shaves from each blade, it off-sets the cost of each blade. 🪒
I have the Fine 20mm brush, which I love and use daily. I prefer smaller knots. It looks nice too.

Good luck. I have the same issues loading blades with my PAL.

Hey Heiko, I just got a Gillette Good Will from 1931 almost new in original packaging at an antique store in Tucson, AZ. Can’t wait to try it
Nice. I might have to find me one of those.
