You said that The Beatles are not the best band ever? Then who, in your opinion, is the best? I can guarantee that they were probably influenced by The Beatles in some way.
You are wrong. The Beatles are most definitely the greatest band ever.
For millions their music was the soundtrack of our youth.
_Great reaction!_ i recommend you :
🔥 *The Invention of Lying* (2009)
_Ricky Gervais & Jennifer Garner_
UNDERRATED COMEDY
I get that it's a fictional movie, but the most unbelievable part to me, is that the beginning paints him as a not-so-great musician...but yet he manages to remember every lyric, guitar note, bass note, drum beat, piano key, etc. to EVERY Beatles song
I grew up with a dad who was obsessed with the Beatles- I have listened to many versions of the same songs to hear the minor differences. Lol. I LOVED this movie and showed it to my husband. He didn't realize how many Beatles songs he knew til he watch this! Thanks for the reaction, James! It was another great one!
Great piece of work. Completely stayed true to its core spirit. It's the type work that people are either going to love or have an adverse reaction to it. The scene where he's singing Yesterday to his friends is epic. The sailboat out in the lake in the serene setting is hilarious.
Just an example of one person appreciating the art.
I’m not even a huge Beatles fan but when he visits John it destroys me.
What a good casting job. At least he didn't SOUND like him. Whew-!!
All I can say about The Beatles not being the greatest musical act of all time remark is for you to Google that exact wording and see the list.
I don't think I ever EVER had a fantasy like this. I have wished I'd have written this or that song, I've never considered THIS film's fantasy basis. I do appreciate this fellow's inclusion of values - it makes a difference in the choice to Like / Subscribe.
The Beatles recorded 213 songs from 1962 to 1970. 188 of those songs were originals. The Beatles still stand to this day as the most important and influential band in the history of popular music, a global phenomenon unlike any other, and agents of cultural change unprecedented in modern history.
And this fellow doesn't believe influential is an important value.
I love the whole idea of this film and the great acting too. I really like how he was not a Beatles fan but ended up living one aspect of their philosophy.
Saw it in the theater and loved it. Glad you enjoyed it too.
It's so good!
Great reaction! I think Kate McKinnon does a fantastic job portraying the cutthroat showbiz person with loads of sarcasm.
I worked on this film.. Danny Boyle was a dream to work with & Ed
That's great to hear. What a joy it must by to see your work being appreciated by so many.
John Lennon and Paul McCartney wrote almost 300 songs together in the Beatles. Plus George's 18-20 and Ringo's 2. Since leaving the Beatles, Paul McCartney had released 50 albums, soundtracks, or arias in 50 years.
The Brits call French Fries -----Chips.
The actor is an accomplished singer, singing these songs
Yes, they call chips "crisps". And they call fries "chips". They call cookies "biscuits" and they call biscuits "scones".
love it
The man who he was talking to who was 78 played Rumplestiltskin on Once Upon a Time and was Dr. Rush on Stargate Universe. He’s a very talented actor.
A cute movie. But the scene at the beach ....... gut-wrenching.
Great review 👍 You are the first reactioner to review this movie. Thanks
Really? I'm sure they're scared of the copyright.
You just said The Beatles are not the greatest band ever??? You're fired. How can you be trusted from this point on?
I love the Beatles but he is entitled to his opinion. Just like you and I are.
Have to agree with him. I would probably like them more if I hadn’t grown up with my stepdad constantly listening to them. Even in adulthood, I run the family business with the playlist provided by him. He’s completely ruined them for me.
Queen is my favorite as far as classic rock goes. I feel like most of their songs were ahead innovative; even ahead of their time.
@@oliviarose5030 And yet Brian May himself has said "The Beatles were our Bible. They opened the doors, and we (Queen, plus all subsequent groups and musical artists of the sixties to seventies, and beyond) all just walked through."
I find the idea that The Beatles never existed very upsetting. Reportedly, Matthew Weiner paid $250,000 to use the actual recording of the song "Tomorrow Never Knows" in an episode of "Mad Men"
As a musician, I have to let you know that you could not be more wrong about The Beatles, not being the greatest band ever.
Well, now I want to know what band is better
This is a great movie with a new concept and no real bad guys. It is simply a wonderful story about learning to appreciate the important things in life while celebrating wonderful music. I am not even a Beatles fan but I found myself really enjoying the music here.
This is my current favorite movie. I watched for the first time this February and it is one of three movies that has moved me to tears. The idea of bringing the music of the Beatles to a world that had never heard of them is just fantastic to me. Thank you for reacting to it!!
Passing up Lily James requires way more suspension of disbelief than the Beatles never existing.
Paul McCartney wasn't happy with the orchestrations that Phil Spector added to the "Let It Be" album (especially Long and Winding Road). There's a remastered "Let It Be, Naked" album available. They frequently play the naked versions on the Beatles channel on Sirius/XM.
Absolutely love this movie. Him going to see John Lennon gets me every time!!! Great scene in an amazing film.
Really love this movie! Saw it in the theater when it first came out. It was a small crowd, mostly older...obviously Beatles fans. When he went to see John, the sniffling began around the audience. You could tell everyone was very emotional, including myself. I thought it was such an interesting premise and done so perfectly.
Not only did the movie save the life of John Lennon, it also saved George Harrison. Since cigarettes did not exist, George would not have developed the smoking related cancer that took his life.
Different opinion on the music but i still love ya.James. I watched a reactor watching The Graduate this morn .. And she did not care for the sound track eek. Simon and Garfunkel!
When you know someone long enough, especially before one might have romantic feelings and just like each other as friends, the transition can be difficult. At what time does one say it's time to ask her out? If she says no, does that end the friendship, since it can? When she was his manager, then there's the extra complication of mixing work and pleasure/romance. If she said no at that point or even yes and it didn't work out, then many possible negative outcomes could arise.
It's easy to say he's foolish to miss the signals and opportunities when viewing from the outside, and even a person seeing themselves in hindsight can easily spot that, too. But as it happens a day at a time, it can be much harder. Sometimes it takes such a situation to get better at spotting it in one's own life to avoid it happening again or happening for very long again.
As a movie, I loved the movie. The concept and the music were both great. The relationship had a tension that leads to the kind of reaction on display in this video.
I watched this back to back when I first saw it. one of my favorite movies!
Great concept
So glad I caught this before RUclips stops it.
Hopefully they won't.
SAME!!
Jack meets the actual John Lennon as an old man because he wasn't famous and wasn't shot and killed in 1981.
As a massive Beatles fan since childhood, this movie was an absolute blast. Great reaction, Good Sir. 👍🥃
Glad you enjoyed
Love this movie. Very original
Glad you enjoyed
The man who he was talking to who was 78 played Rumplestiltskin on Once Upon a Time and was Dr. Rush on Stargate Universe. He’s a very talented actor. Glad you were able to get this up on the channel even if it’s just temporary.
I really enjoyed this movie!
I only saw two movies in the theater in 2019. This was one of them. The other was Blinded By the Light. Another movie you should check out. It was also about music. But in this case . . . Springsteen!
Woulda been cool if they named this movie "Scrambled Eggs". If Paul hadn't met John, those were the words that were originally in place. 😂
As a Richard Curtis fan, a big thanks to the patreon member that picked this!
8:38 I'd be good for a few albums worth. Mostly the singles plus all of Sgt. Pepper (years of listening to the albums whilst reading the lyrics sheets, or back cover for Sgt. Pepper).
Eleanor Rigby, in particular, has been burned into my brain for over four decades. The fact that I don't play anything and can't carry a tune in a bucket might be an obstacle though. 🤔
The producers nearly spent $10 million to acquire the rights from the Beatles' music, out of a $26 million budget. It made a box office of $154.6 million.
HOLY MOLY... 10M???
You should check out the movie "Across the Universe". It might be harder to edit for RUclips because it is more of a musical, but you'd probably like it given the things you said about this movie.
Love this film. I feel it slipped under most people's radars. I'm not much of a Beatles but they incorporated all the classics beautifully. Great caring too.
Really liked this movie...lead lady is my kinda cute.😊
Agreed
Lily James is a gorgeous actress, got her start on Downton Abbey.
18:32 No Beatles and no smokes? Not sure what circle of Hell this is but it's definitely a deep one. Though at least without the Fabs to rip off, Oasis doesn't exist.😉
😎👍
write back at ya
I love this movie! I'm so glad someone has finally reacted to it! I always imagined that it might be difficult because of copyright, but your edit was excellent. Thank you!
finally a reactor i like watching this movie it was such a random gem i thought when i saw it for first time (:
Hope you enjoyed
Best Beatles adjacent movie is "Across the Universe." Uses Beatles (and a few other huge musician's) songs and lyrics to tell a beautiful story. Music performances and covers are phenomenal too.
Agree 100% he should definitely check out across the universe. It's one of my favorites
Actually I already reacted to it but it's only on Patreon
The Beatles have the records to prove how good they were. The first few years of the early 60s were mostly copy cats or covers of 50s hits until they came along in late 62 with a sound that was different. Even they covered a few older 50s hits early in their careers. The Beatles were good but also very lucky and came at a perfect time and jump started a new period of music creativity that lasted until the end of the 60s. Just little more than a few years. It was a very short period of time but an amazing one. The best band ever? Today? I seriously doubt most people under 30 would think so.
To the couple that celebrated their anniversary, I hope that you had a wonderful day.
James, as ever another enjoyable reaction.
we did, thanks!
And if this movie doesn't make you love The Beatles, you are dead inside! ;)
OMG, I love this movie so much! My favorite scenes are the one where the lady and guy who also know, confront him at the concert and they're actually really happy, and then the one where he goes to Lenon's house on the beach to see him. There's such a beauty and love of music to this simple sweet movie!
It makes you wonder, would the Beatles be this popular if they came out today. I'm not so sure. The style was quite different back then. Even the lyrics "I want to hold your hand" meant something more back then. These days I think girls would reply "OK, then what?".
Of course they wouldn't but that goes for every group of all time. Elvis wouldn't have been popular in the 1920's...Snoop Dogg wouldn't have been in the 50's. The great thing about music is it is based on and influences the culture of the day.
The Beatles phenomenon required several crucial aspects of the time period that were like a perfect storm the elements of which included politics, economic conditions, demographics, technology, sociology, and the history and development of American music.
I don't agree with you about Beatles being overproduced but I'm not going to argue that in a comments section. However, if you are looking for original acoustic versions of Beatles songs I suggest looking up something called the "Esther demos" which is basically the White Album unplugged.
I've never heard this term before. I'll look it up thanks.
Thank you, Stephanie!! You come up with some real winners!
Yeah she's great!
The Beatles never happened because John and Paul never met in the school alleyway smoking cigarettes or drinking Cokes.
Great reaction man, I loved this movie. Saw it during Covid I think twice. I love the Beatles and a good love story. You said “ In my life” in your introduction. Which is the title of a Beatles song. 😊👏
So good!
The movies alright and a bit of fun, but I really feel there was a lot of missed potential. Regardless of how much you enjoy their music, theres no denying their massive influence on culture and even history. To have a story where they never existed would be cool for seeing what they impacted. Alternatively, in having someone else claim their songs, you could show how much other influences impacted their success (What the members themselves were like/how they were presented, the culture they emerged in, what else existed alongside them at the time, etc). To have it just another claim to fame that couldve been told any other way is a little disappointing. (Yes, I also watched Elliot Robberts' video on it) Like I said, still a fine movie, but Id *love* to see what someone else could do with the concept
There are two other incredible movies about the Beatles; Backbeat that’s about the early days when they still had Stuart Sutcliffe and Pete Best, that is somewhat accurate. The other is The Two Of Us, that is based on a rumor about Paul visiting John in New York City when he was a stay at home dad.
The saddest part is that I don't think anyone would have been able to reinvent Coke for the few that may have also remembered it cause it's a secret recipe.
Awesome reaction of my favorite movie!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊
Thanks
The woman following him in Liverpool is played by John Lennon's sister.
That's so cool to know
It’s not that’s Sarah Lancashire she’s a famous uk actor
You're correct.
I said this because I recently saw something on the Beatles and a woman, who looked exactly like her was being interviewed as John's sister.
Pics of his sister do not look like her.
Hmmmm.
John: "You need seriously psychiatric help."
Jack: "Not anymore."
I'm a big Beatles fan. I love this thing. But you're right about "Unplugged" WIsh it was around in the '60s. They would have been great.
9:40 I have those things that go up into your mouth.
implants?
who the HELL is ed cherin? i couldn't live in a world without the beatles. but i could definately live in a world without ed cherin, who ever that is.
As a musician I can easily say..they were and are without question the best band ever! You should dive deeper into their catalog so you’ll see what us musicians have eventually found out :)
It would be tempting if you could sing.
I do during the full reaction
I prefer the original ending (an extra on the DVD), where Jack's girlfriend (Ellie) mentions Harry Potter and he has no idea what she is talking about. So it's something someone else remembers, but he doesn't. (Instead of it being yet another thing only he remembers.)
that's literally in this cut
Great movie.
Glad i read the comments first. I will not be watching this video.
Oh come on, give it a shot. You might be suprised by it
Fun movie
agreed
this is a great movie
Agreed
I'm a beetlemaniac. I love this movie❤
Hope you enjoyed my reaction
36:17 Seriously, Bud? 🙄
I just found out based on the comments there is a thing called "The Esher Demos" look it up if your a Beatles fan.
@@AwesomeUSMovies Thanks. I'm quite familiar with them. It's cool to hear the evolution of their work.
I hope somebody request another Chris Farley movie soon.
Tommy Boy! I adored it: ruclips.net/video/mDOpktwvaVg/видео.html
This guy just died not get it. To so flippantly say The Beatles were not the greatest ever is ... Sacrilegious
This movie was a slight disappointment to me. The approach was a bit too simplistic. A Star rises, has trouble with his girl, fails a bit, and gets her back. It was not really a tribute to Beatles music at all. It could have been anything. Sorry, one guy with a guitar is just not going to wow the audience, even with a song as heart-stopping as 'I Want to Hold Your Hand'. Also, it was the chemistry of the Four and the social setting which propelled them to such heights. And the music of course.
Not a fan of this movie or the Beatles, I can take them or leave them, mostly the latter, AC/DC is my favorite band and as far as I'm concerned they are the greatest band of all time, my opinion but that's my preference, a live and let live I always say, to each their own.
I like some of AC/DC’s stuff but they’re basically johnny one notes. They’re just a riff band with no variety. In no way are they, in any way, comparable to The Beatles.
“Not the best band in the world” …..in your opinion!!
I honestly don't think I could say who the best band in the world is. Just every ten years or so that would be a drastically different conversation. It would be an interesting chat for sure.
Why are you so obsessed with the relationship?
Who cares?
And i do question your lack of musical appreciation.
Thanks for the feedback
It didn't live up to the hype, or my expectations really. It lost it's way and didn't know where it was going. A few interesting ideas in the second half of the film, but they seemed in isolation. It all got too thin. Good odea to start, but after that I don't think Danny Boyle knew where best to go with it. I was disappointed. Rocket Man was the same.
