I'm a rabid Cleese & Palin fan, and they were the only reason I went to this movie, but this ended up being my favorite scene.

That guy is Angelo from Who Framed Roger Rabbit. It blew my mind when I first learned that, his accent in that film was on par with Hoskins.

You may be amused to learn that he is also Thorfinn Skull-Splitter (a surprisingly fun character, as far as bloodthirsty warriors go) in Terry Jones's film Erik The Viking.

I am so in love with this scene. That gorilla could have very easily killed her but he was curious and gentle. I will honestly never understand why people hunt these majestic animals!

This scene reminds me when i was a teen i went to my local zoo. Everyone was gathered around the gorilla exhibit because a new baby was born so i decided to go see the orangutans. The most amazing thing happened to me. I was looking down into the pen below the glass and there was this lone Orangutan just looking like it was waiting for something. I didn't even tap on the glass and it just looked up at me like it knew i was there. Then never taking it's eyes on me began to climb the fake rocks and it sat next to the glass where i sat next to it. We just stared at each other, and we tapped the glass in turns like we were communicating somehow. It was almost like it was lonely and me being there somehow helped it. It was only for a few minutes but I'd never felt anything like that before, like we were old souls, friends meeting again in another life with no real way to communicate but just sit together with a pane of glass separating us. Sadly the connection didn't last long as a group of tourists saw me sitting next to it and began to crowd around us taking pictures. I got up and walked away without thinking, like i was the scared animal. I tried going back when it was clear again but it was gone, it might have been waiting for the keepers to make its food, i imagine they all eat separately. But i still like to believe, that as a teen, there was something almost magical happening that day. It'll be a memory i'll always keep with me as it was one of my few instances of connecting with an animal and nature in such a unique way.

I only saw this movie once, and always remembered this scene, but forgot how INRTENSE it is! No Deepfake here, from '97, this shit is REAL! She was ACTING scared, wonder if the ape picked up on that--would he have "smelled fear" and attacked her? Was there such a risk? Jamie Lee is damned brave, altho i may be ignernt 'bout apes, but dunno if i'd do the scene! It's so powerful. But most of all, it's moving AF and thought-provoking.

I always thought this scene was really corny, even if the message was good.
