Jay from OSW said it best: in the blindfold match, everything went wrong, at it was one of the worst matches ever. In the electrified steel cage match, everything went to plan, and it was one of the worst matches ever. Electrified was worse.
The face coming in first could work in a War Games style match, but only if the first heel takes handcuffs or something into the ring and takes that first face out of commission by cuffing them to the ropes or something. Then we could have subsequent faces trying to free him when they come in, only for the heels to cut them off and stop it. You'd go back to 2 heels on one face after the second face comes in and can't free the first guy. Keep that first guy there most of the match until he's finally freed after the faces manage to fire up enough to put down the heels for a short time to let him get free. I get trying to vary the formula a little, but you need to execute it well....something that TNA still isn't very good at.
One quick observation, when Bryan talks about Harley Race he is absolutely right. WWE was in St. Louis two months later for Vengeance Night of Champions, Harley Race was in the front row and Batista raised his arm when he came out to face Edge for the World title.
I never understood the whole "blindfold in a cage" concept. The match is no DQ. What is stopping one of the participants from just taking their mask off and just beating the piss out of their opponent? This is why they are never held in cages.
Jake Mitchell Counter point, nobody expected anything out of Jenna/Sharmell so we got exactly what we expected albiet being much worse. The matches here had some actual wrestlers in them and they just shat the bed entirely, Harris vs Storm is a big one especially since they had an awesome deathmatch a month later.
I was in the crowd that night. The only thing I remember us hating was the electrified cage match. Word that night going in was the cage hadn't made it to the arena and they had to construct a makeshift cage for the show.
Jeremy Nichols That's fair. I remember being at a RAW where everyone hated Ryback's match but the crowd were so into him we all loved it. Being there live makes such a difference.
mid 2000s bryan alvarez is a south park character lmao this dudes voice around this time cracks me up

The director of TNA at that time was a total fucking incompetent. Even years later with hindsight there is still no excuse for how atrocious he was.
If Vince Russo wrote the bible, David would have been the giant instead of Goliath.
Goliath the giant would be the babyface in peril after David attacks him from behind and beats him down 3 on 1
+KingBlue 10 commandments on a pole match
Sir Osis of Thuliver I think of it David as a Eddie Guerrero type baby face. He didn’t break the rules like Eddie would, and outsmarted everyone.
Goliath would have swerved David.

9 years later, the fans are still doing that over-saturated 'this is awesome' chant.

Should've done this for WarGames 2018 since they did the handcuffs spot anyway
The most idiotic thing in any escape the Cage match is when the two guys start hitting eachother when you are on the outter side of the cage.

Peter it was Judgement Day that was in St.Louis.
@@ethanbradley2089 yep, we were supposed to get New Years Revolution but a scheduling conflict with the Blues pushed WWE to spring

A little fun fact: Harley Race runs his wrestling school not too far from where I live.

Blindfold matches in general are stupid.
I guess it's their personal honor and respect for professional wrestling. jkjkjk lol, TNA has none of that.
how would these matches compare to jenna/sharmell and (sunny)/(sharmell) as worst matches of this decade?
and russo was there for all of them.
Jenna/Sharmell is still without a doubt worse in every situation

But is Jenna/Sharmell worse than Shelly/Rebel?
@@RetepAdam
Yes since Jenna & Sharmell was on Live PPV and was part of a storyline that made no sense.
So what rating did Bryan give that Blindfold Match? MINUS FIVE STARS?!
Headbanger142 Minus 3 stars I think? Minus a number of stars, for sure...
Got Worst Match of 2007 in the Wrestling Observer awards. Well deserved too
Christian looks like Vinnie Mac in that picture. I think that's a clue that TNA has no chance in hell with this Pay Per View.
Wtf is wrong with Christian's face on that poster.
I start the video, take a sip of water, Bryan says "this show sucks 10 cocks", I laughed and water came out of my nose.
Best things on the PPV were promos... If only they did them on TV so that people might buy the PPV

Jeremy Nichols You didn't hate the blindfold match?
ScarecrowHuggins Nah, that was fun watching live, plus the majority of us were big James Storm fans.

I always assumed the wire cage was supposed to have something to do with the electrified cage gimmick.
