I know what you mean but sadly it's super unhealthy to be that tan from the Sun. My dad used to be out in the sun all the time and never wear sunscreen he was very tan my whole life and he's gotten skin cancer many times had to get it removed. However I think you can get this look with spray tan?
She looks a lot prettier here because she exudes much more confidence than she did in the Shining. I do realize that was because that was what her role called for
Well the main reason I thought she looked so horrible in The Shining was because of the FACIAL EXPRESSIONS she kept making in that movie. Also, the coarse black hair she had in that movie and Popeye wasn't very becoming ( though it probably was suitable for those movies ).
Just so you know, a lot of the emotions that she expressed during the making of The Shining were actually very real emotions. When you see her playing as Wendy Torrance scared for her life, Stanley Kubrick purposely made Jack Nicholson do his part so well in order to completely terrify Shelley. Shelley had to act terrified for her role, and so Stanley felt that in order for her role to be real enough for the acting, she had to be sincerely terrified, not just acting it out. Shelley was truly freaked out on set on purpose while acting, and the most traumatic parts were probably the bat scene and the axe scene. Also, to make it worse, they had redone the bat scene at least 127 times because Stanley kept feeling dissatisfied. Keep in mind the emotions she expressed were purposely real because Stanley wanted them to be real! Every time they had redone that scene, it freaked Shelley out. Shelley would make complaints that Stanley was pushing her too much, but Stanley only got annoyed and told her to suck it up. Stanley also advised the rest of the crew to ignore her if she expressed how hard it was for her to do her role. She was verbally abused constantly by Stanley and probably by other crew members while making the whole movie of The Shining. The only times they showed concern for her is when she had fainted while on set, and also when she showed them that her hair started falling out because of how bad the stress was. All of this is probably why she is the way she is presently today, acting like she hallucinates and has schizophrenia.
They made her look as unattractive and frumpy as possible in that movie because Kubrick wanted her to be a pathetic character that would put up with abuse. Her hair, lack of makeup and especially ugly fashion made her look far worse than she did in real life
@@thebosstex1172 we often hear about extreme "method acting" but this was more extreme "method directing" on Kubricks part. He caused Malcolm Mcdowell a lot of suffering too. Stephen king hated what Kubrick did to "The Shining" because his misogynistic portrayal of Wendy (along with the numerous changes to the plot and characters). In the book, Wendy is a lot stronger and less submissive.
@@roxanneshuster8308 -- The "facial expressions she kept making" made her "look horrible" to you? It may come as a shock to you, since you seem very young and naive, that life doesn't revolve around cuteness.
Shelley you looked amazing in 1974... and you still are today. Come back to us and return to acting we miss you. I could stare into those big brown eyes forever. What a lovely and amazing woman.
It's a shame Thieves Like Us, the film she's talking about wasn't a bigger hit. If you get a chance to watch it, do so. Acting is phenomenal and it's a wonderful period piece, a bit Bonnie and Clyde-ish.
WHY DO PPL SAY THAT SHE'S UGLY, SHE'S BEAUTIFUL ALRIGHT, IT'S JUST THAT IN THE SHINING THE MAKEUP MADE HER LOOK UGLY IN THE EMOTIONAL SCENES, BUT NORMALLY SHE LOOKS AMAZING
jabrown45100 1 second ago I'm choosy in the criteria for women's beauty, and among the few very beautiful goddesses I've seen in my life( and I've seen many women here and overseas to attest to that claim), Shelly exceeds them all (even in the Shinning film role)
She looks nice with lighter hair. Always LOVED her big round eyes too!
i just love that 70s glow people back then had . it was so natural and healthy looking
Or is it the sepia photography lol.....only joking
Before the corporations poisons took over everything

Sun damaged glow?😅
It was mostly from overtanning and drugs tbh, so not as healthy as it looks 😅😂
She was pretty cute in this interview
She is so beautiful here. Such a unique face.
this lady is so pretty i swear ❤
she does look pretty here. she's got that 70's model look.
She looks like a disney princess with those huge eyes
She just seems so genuine every time♡♡♡♡
She’s so gorgeous awe ❤️
I hope and pray for her health and hope she’s doing much better today
Rest in peace, Shelly. You were radiant. (I can hear her voice saying "resplendent".) You will be missed.
The sweetness in those eyes , beautiful individual
I have a major crush on young Shelley Duvall

Jennifer Ferreras me
FUCK THAT!! . .. THAT doesn't have a shitin thing to do with why I'm watching THIS video!
I'm here because of Shelley Duvall. Who's Dr. Phil?
@@stefanrichard4986 Dr Philthy is a fake doctor from tv
Shelly can hit me with a bat, its called painful enjoyment
She is commenting on"Thieves Like Us", criminally overlooked, and another Robert Altman classic
The most beautiful (and lovingly 'crazy') woman of all time.
Cute, Intelligent, Woman!!
I think she's so pretty

She is so Beautiful
She was glowing here.

Mia Goth looks so much like her in the film X it’s uncanny!
She WISHES.

She was in Brewster McCloud also directed by Bob Altman. :)
She was so cute
A very unique look, actresses these days are monochrome.
Here's Johnny.....

So she didn't really have coarse black hair like she did in The Shining and Popeye huh?
Imagine The Shining without SHELLEY DUVALL
I always thought she was beautiful. Great personality and so real.Dr. Phil exploited her and I have lost all respect for him. god bless her.
My god she was a dream
Where can I watch Thieves Like Us? Only one I haven’t seen, and I need to.
what's her real natural hair color?
I think it's brown but I don't know also love your pfp
I used to have a crush on her as Olive Oil in Popeye. I still think she’s pretty.
On top of that she looked like an ex-gf of mine.
Não sei porque acho ela exótica e linda
Beautiful here. That color hair really suited her. Looks like a thinner Toni Collette
she looks like BIOSHOCK INFINITE female charecter
She's laying on the whole crazy schtick. It's a facade.
High fashion model kinda of face
She bears resemblance to Sissy Spacek in this video.
But Spacek has blue eyes, freckles and a weird upturned pointy nose. They do have a similar sort of bone structure though, I can see that.
Lovely girl
She had big teeth but they fit her perfectly.
She looks better with this hair color than black
I've always found her sexually attractive. In this video, she kind of favors Cher.
This hurts to know that this was filmed before the start of her mental illness after the shining 😢
Her mental illness came on way after The Shining. Have you not seen her films tv shows and interviews she did throughout the 1980s?
Mia Goth vibes!!!!!!
She is dead now 😔 rip
She looks a lot like Mia Goth here.
