Very sad to see OKC closing down shop, I may need to pick of these up... Great vid Thrifty, thank you sir!!!
Thanks much, American. Yep this is one to have if you like slipjoints.
Such a shame that Old Hickory and Ontario Knives will likely be no more.
Good review as always, TK!
👊🏻
It went tits up the same as everything else good in the old U.S.A.
Yes, I agree. Hard to see USA knife manufacturers fade away. Glad to have this to remember them by.
Sad, isnt it? Thanks, Rich.

Me too.
I snagged a few off of CKW this weekend.
I was told by Blue Ridge that they will at some point be moving manufacturing to VA for OKC and Old Hickory.
That's really great to hear, I was concerned when they said nothing and only did promo for the Rat folders after the sale
Good to know. I'd like to have them make it official.
Thanks for doing a review on this one! I've long wanted to get one and now with the Ontario news I'll pull the trigger and pick one up before their scarce.
Probably a good idea RSV.
Simple but good-looking design, nice blade to do a mustard patina on, thanks for sharing, TK.
Yes this would take a patina quite well. A great piece that I think will be appreciated more as time goes on.
This looks like a very interesting knife to me. Thank you TK for the run down on this one. Very good video as always! We all really appreciate your reviews!
Thanks very much J.O. I try to provide a good take. I appreciate you watching.
Thanks for the video. I love my Old Hickory folder. The only thing I would change is how hard it is to fold, I have a hard time sometimes because of my hands, but it's razor sharp and I put a nice patina on mine so it looks great. It's my edc knife.
It's a real bear trap. A very strong pull on it. Great choice for EDC. Thanks, Jason.
I was surprised to see your knife review of a slip jointknife as my last two knife purchases were slipjoint knives: a Benchmade 319 Proper and a Kershaw Esteem. I’ll have to lookup the Old Hickory 7022 slipjoint folder, as it is something I might like to ad to my knife collection.
The OKC crew could certainly teach the Benchmade crew how to get a decent pull and half stop with this knife. I have a Proper but the pull and half stop on this Old Hickory is truly 'Proper'.😂
Sounds great Richard. I really like mine. Take care.
I do like a good strong pull, Ed. It makes for a very confident user.
Thats a nice looking folder!
Last week I bought the OKC "Camp plus" Chef folder that is terrific!
I've seen those, very cool! Thanks, GK.
Excellent review TK. These are great little slip joints. I bought one along with the other 6 knives in the Old Hickory Outdoors series. And you are correct, this is one of the very last new release knives made by Ontario in Franklinville, NY before they closed their doors.
And thanks for the slip try out. I was wondering what size it would fit in.
You have yourself a very nice Saturday evening! Cheers, RW
You're very welcome RWA. I'm very pleased with mine and with the future of Old Hickory knives in doubt glad I was able to get one.
Iam 68. The best spring ive ever owned..i retired my 73 old timer.
Awesome. So great to hear that people are picking these up. Just a great slipjoint from a well loved company.
I like that blade…I bet they are hard to find know…Thanks for showing us TK
Still available in most places I've looked Thanks, Georgia.
Very cool knife! Have a great Sunday, buddy!
I enjoyed my Sunday. Thanks very much David. This is a cool knife!
Thanks Thrifty. Great sort of modern traditional. Real shame there won’t be any more being produced.
It will be a shame if no one picks them up. Thanks, MB.
That is a very cool pick up!! This is one id definitely be interested in getting! Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks Jer, I really recommend anyone who likes Ontario Knife Co. and their history to have this one. I hope you enjoyed the vid.
Simple and practical, I like it. 👍Very good review, buddy. Thanks for sharing, take care and Cheers!
Thanks, Dave. I'm glad to have picked one up. Funny enough when I first heard the brand I thought these knives might be Canadian, eh? No sir, all American. Sad to see them go.
Interesting knife I watched this last night
God bless
It's a nice piece of Americana, Terrill. Thanks for having a look.
That seems like a great knife. Great overview of it!
Thanks very much, Randy. I really enjoy this simple folder. Glad you were able to take part in RJ's show, Sunday.
Good review! I was looking at that one. Maybe worth something ten years from now. Interesting.
Could be. I'm not too worried with the value, but I definitely wanted one. Thank you, Stuart.
Intriguing, unique even. I like everything about that knife except for the nail nick going all the way through. Thanks for sharing Thrifty, a shame to see the demise of so many iconic brands.
It is a shame to see them go away. Hopefully something can eventually be resolved to bring them back in some form.
Oh I want one 😊
Picked up a factory second for a song. Still really bummed to see that Blue Ridge doesn't seem to be interested in continuing anything except the Taiwan made folders
Jury may still be out on that one. Time will tell.
I own one, this is a solid knife. Cons for me was the blade stock is thick, it's not a slicer compared to a traditional sized trapper etc. Because of that, getting it sharp on your stones takes a few more strokes. For a single bladed knife this size, with the fit and finish, the price is a little steep.
Ok Alpine, I guess a Opinel would better fit the bill for you. Cheaper, slicier.
There are 4 reviews of this knife on Amazon and two of those reviews mention the fit and finish and sharp handle edges as reason for their 2 star rating. The other two reviews were indifferent to fit and finish. Still, it’s a +40 knife, so… I would like it more if it didn’t require so much maintenance to keep it from rusting away.
If you're not accustomed to oiling your knife often it's probably not the one for you. The edginess takes literal seconds to correct. The price I paid was closer to $31 before shipping. Thanks, Joe.
😮😮😮 got 2 get 1 !!
Great piece here. Very pleased with it. Better than expected.
Imagine that blade, and that body, but a Barlow design and with bone handles.
Well, I think the wood handles are appropriate in this case. Thanks, Druid.
Hey John,
There’s something about the old time look of this one that really appeals to me. Certainly looks like a great solid user 😎
Outstanding review, will catch you on the live’s later brother 😎👍🏻
Thanks very much Sean. I do like the basic, old-timey look to them. A cool piece.
Wow, thats really sad news about OKC😢. (When Camillus folded I got some of the cold steel+ emerson specwar blanks off ebay). Too distracted to finish the vid, knife wont be available in Europe anyway.... peace
I bought mine in the UK back in January. There are currently 3 outlets that have them in stock here. Heinnie Haynes, Moonraker and Cyclaire Knives and Tools although Cyclaire don't ship overseas. It's a great little knife which I also keep in a Rough Ryder slip, although it tarnishes quite quickly if you do this.
Yes the RR slips will cause patina. Best to remove the knife over night if you've got a carbon or D2 blade. Thanks, Ed.
Seems they are in some places. Thanks, Shrink.
Nice
Glad you like it, Jeff.
So Blue ridge knives Inc. Has taken over Ontario knives Co. And there still going to make Ontario knive 😊
They bought the Name & Rights. no mention of making any new knives if so i would say china made only.
@@richbutler7828 dig deeper and you'll see that they are .
They are moving it to Va at some point
No, that's not what I said. They bought trademark rights and their remaining inventory, no part of production.
Would like to see this announced publicly.
Remember its premiere at the SHOT Show las vegas a few yrs back
Started becoming available at retail around July or August of '22. Thanks, Bruce.
I asked knifecenter if they had a sample of this one with ok fit and finish, good blade centering, and close to no blade play. They said: No
It's a crude style knife, so I really don't know what you were expecting, but I was more than satisfied with mine. Well built, great blade centering. Thanks, Sovner.
luckily i think they’re still producing their taiwan knives, so the RAT1 and RAT2
Not really sure, but I would bet they are too popular to stop production on. I've got both just in case they do go away or quality recedes. Thanks, Acid.
Had no idea OH made folder's though I have all the outdoors butcher type knives I'll ever need so didn't pay attention to the brand. Still unfortunate it went out of business.
Yes it is very sad to see another USA knife company close their doors. Wished I'd paid them more attention as well. Thanks, JK.
🎉🎉tough ass blade
Cool piece. Thank you, Chad.
Biggest down side for me is the blade will rust....
Just gotta oil them ever so often. Thanks, Gabby.
Sad they closed
It really is. Wish I'd invested more in them when it would have mattered. Thanks, Bruce.
Nice user . A real shame about O.K.C. .
Great review .
It is very sad to see them go. I wished I'd given them more mind, but with so many knives I have to say they just werent on my radar very much. I've tried to make up for that since the announcement. Thanks, Michael.
