Funny you say that when August Burns Red had them beat the same year with Messengers. Never really got into PWD, they sound too much like all the other banana 0-5-7-8 bands. I think you should really broaden your idea of metalcore.
Parkway drive - Horizons Lyrics So it begins, our eyes turn open Free from the thorns of doubt Free from our selfish confine Our blood restless, ceaseless With open arms we stand before the dawn The sun seems to have been rising ever since I can recall Lending a sense of permanence to this lying world Your words not worth the air Your life not worth its weight in flesh To hope for something more To dream of substance Like a million before us, waiting to die Like a billion before us, waiting to die Masochistic to think this would be remembered (would be remembered) Sadistic, perpetuation of stagnation There is nothing as empty as waiting to die We spend our lives wasting as time eats us alive There is nothing as empty as waiting to die We spend our lives wasting as time eats us alive The sun seems to have been falling ever since I can recall The only sense of permanence in this dying world Sit back and watch as time eats us alive Everyone who knew me, destined to die The marks I left upon this world will wash away in time In time, and so it ends In time, it all finds an end In time, and so it ends In time, we all find an end With broken arms and hollow eyes Await our return to oblivion Embrace our last empty horizon Embrace our last empty... Horizons Horizons Horizons (horizons) Horizons
I like that cover picture, it is an empty terrain, nowhere to go, loneliness and a gray weather with storm clouds on the background, like telling you what's coming will be though
This is a 10/10 song. That's a rare feat. Like a film and Stairway to Heaven it's split into 3 Acts. There is nothing in this song you can critique, it's pure perfection.
I know right !! I like Karma from Deep blue but Horizons is absolutely one of the greatest metal albums out there. And this song is one of my favorite SONGS of all time .. a lyrical and musical masterpiece 🤘
actually i think KWAS is my favourite Parkway Drive album!! every song just goes stupid hard! i love how it sounds unstructured, like they just put random riffs after riffs, and it still sound so freaking good. and yes Horizons (song) is indeed a masterpiece! deserves godhood status in all of metalcore music @@nishanth6403
@@alexiluffy216funny because that's kinda why I like Horizons more. It sounds the same as Killing with a Smile, but with more of a structure in the songs
@@neolbioldey i get why people usually prefer Horizons more. I think Idols & Anchors and Horizons are some of their best songs, but that's my problem, that album has peaks and valleys. while KWAS to me is consistently high (but doesn't reach the highs of Horizons)
@@alexiluffy216 Idols and Anchors and Carrion are masterpieces but... The Siren's Song is just a wickedly evil, merciless song Feed Them to the Pigs is an awesome song, kinda like a Deep Blue song before Deep Blue Carrion is just a beautiful song Five Months is, yet again, a beautiful song Boneyards is an awesome song with so many memorable riffs and breakdowns Moments in Oblivion is written extremely well with a great foreshadowing and I also just like the way it sounds Breaking Point is a combination of the ruthlessly fast songs and the emotional songs Dead Man's Chest is like Mutiny, but better Frostbite always reminded me of A Cold Day in Hell for some reason, but I like Frostbite way more Killing with a Smile is odd to me, because I feel like it's split in three parts. 1. Gimme AD, Anasasis (Xenophontis), Pandora, and Romance is Dead are all undoubtedly just fantastic songs with a lot happening in all of them. 2. Guns for Show Knives for a Pro, Blackout, and Picture Perfect, Pathetic are... great, but I feel like they aren't nearly as good as the first four. 3. It's Hard to Speak Without a Tongue, Mutiny, Smoke 'Em If Ya Got 'Em, and A Cold Day in Hell feel like they go back to the quality the first four hit. So to me, it starts super high, dips a bit, and rises again. Also, the lyrics of Horizons are just way better than the lyrics of Killing with a Smile. That's just the truth. I mean, they're both very close in my opinion because they are so similar, but I think Horizons is better overall. I mean, my 3 favorite Parkway Drive songs are all from Horizons (Horizons, Idols and Anchors, Boneyards.) Killing with a Smile is very underrated, though and I feel it often gets overshadowed by Horizons, Deep Blue, and Atlas.
Their older songs are just so much better if you prefer the darker feel. I can understand why people think their newer songs are better because they're more polished but they just don't hit the same
The intro of this song is somehow buried into my muscle memory. I have no idea how i remember it nor how i can play it as its way over my level of skills
This whole album must be listened to beginning to end it tells an amazing story it's really a masterpiece in my opinion.
This is metalcore's magum opus. No one came close in 2007 and nobody comes close today.
Newer parkway doesn't hold a candle to this
This was their peak for me 💯😍🙌🏼

you were not convinced by this song on how Parkway Drive were equals to August Burns Red? @@Henry14arsenal2007
for me Killing With The Smile, Horizon, Deep Blue, Atlas is their peak, but Atlas holds something more for me(if we are talking about old stuff)
The ending sweep picking is one of the most beautiful part of metal history.
He's not sweep picking that.. it's a mixture of tapping and pull on / offs
Especially Live! OMG!
@IceBreakBottle it's sweep taps for one part and a tapping hammer on/pull offs on another part
Complete epicness on a GODLY level
One of the best Parkway songs, absolutely love it
That sweep picking at the end though 100%
Colby Falkenhagen sweeping and taps in time with each other too. Dope
My favorite part of the entire song. That outro is fun as hell to play
Parkway drive - Horizons
Lyrics
So it begins, our eyes turn open
Free from the thorns of doubt
Free from our selfish confine
Our blood restless, ceaseless
With open arms we stand before the dawn
The sun seems to have been rising ever since I can recall
Lending a sense of permanence to this lying world
Your words not worth the air
Your life not worth its weight in flesh
To hope for something more
To dream of substance
Like a million before us, waiting to die
Like a billion before us, waiting to die
Masochistic to think this would be remembered (would be remembered)
Sadistic, perpetuation of stagnation
There is nothing as empty as waiting to die
We spend our lives wasting as time eats us alive
There is nothing as empty as waiting to die
We spend our lives wasting as time eats us alive
The sun seems to have been falling ever since I can recall
The only sense of permanence in this dying world
Sit back and watch as time eats us alive
Everyone who knew me, destined to die
The marks I left upon this world will wash away in time
In time, and so it ends
In time, it all finds an end
In time, and so it ends
In time, we all find an end
With broken arms and hollow eyes
Await our return to oblivion
Embrace our last empty horizon
Embrace our last empty...

Thank you Parkway Drive for making this masterpiece
Came here to pay my respects, this song has carried us all through so much
Came back here after The Greatest Fear.. I still enjoy new Parkway Drive, but man, this was quite literally the magnum opus of Metalcore!
The marks I left upon this world,
Will wash away,
in time.
Beautiful
Underrated Song. PWD forever!
+Carlos Salazar That's how I feel about this song /watch?v=F54kPGqKqxY
I also agree one of there best songs still to this day is 1 of my favorite songs of all time
12 year old album, still basically unbeatable.. this shits insane.
Now 16 and still unbeatable

It fits with the music
Best Aussie metal band of all time ❤ Seen them live last summer/fall, what a great show 🤟🏻

Best song from the best album from parkway drive forever be my go to !
The riff that makes up the section that starts at around 2 mins in is so energizing
This band made me a better person... now when I go I to the mosh pit I hug people
The intro... just beautiful
My favourite PD album, a masterpiece
One of Parkway Drive's best songs is this one.🤘🏼👑🔥🇮🇷❤️
I normally don't like fade outs but it works perfectly for this song. This album is a masterpiece that stands the test of time!
Perfect way to end the album.
Goosebumps.. Still.
13 years later.
Takes me back in time, every time.
