So, ESPN referred to this race as the "Portland 200", as opposed to its actual name, the Freightliner/GI Joe's 200 Presented by Texaco? Interesting....
I remember TV networks started doing that with race titles around this time (Fox and NBC did a lot of it when they picked up NASCAR the following year). I think they wanted the race sponsors to pay them, too, if they wanted their names mentioned on TV, otherwise they would just use a descriptive name for the race.
