Do you guide Andrew? And also I'm just getting into ski mountaineering, which I'm learning more and more that it is completely different then conventional mountaineering I'm used to. My main question is if I go into my backyard and skin up mt rainier with 3 of my buddies how does the person in the middle manage the rope? Or is that why most skin teams are 2 man? Thank you
Ahahah what a way to end a playlist full of tiny scattered gags! That opening shot with the booze and cig single handedly made me subscribe, good job on the educative content though!
Ah ah, so true. I would add the worst habit : follow the lead (and tracks) of another group while going up and once there rush to be te first to ski down...
we have on we call "guiding" wich is modifying the skin track just a bit, you know cos you know best, stick to the existing skin track or brake a whole new one if its pissing you off dont be the first to drop in all the time, even turns not everyone has to break "their share" of the skin track. the weakest should break the least so as everyone have a good day, maybe get an extra lap cos thier not crushed if your a smoker you have to get to the top first, you know, to have a smoke while you wait and be polite if your in front, turn our head or talk louder, cos the people behind cant hear. dont show up the the meeting point more than 10mins late, dont be late.
Great videos, but wtf is post-hauling? Please someone spread wisdom to us non native speakers. And to be honest, I love bitching about the skin track. Especially 90 degree kickturns.
post holing is what happens when you walk with just boots in soft snow, and your boots sink into the snow. Makes it hard to skin over if you do this to the skin track
Love it. Bad habits with the whisky bottle almost empty and a smoke at hand....
