Thank you so much for all of this information! I have a huge number of stamps on blocks that are a nightmare to store. It will take a good deal of time to get them all off the blocks but I will start with my favorites and work from there. Thanks for the inspiration😊😊

Just became a new subbie. This is a great idea will try it on my big ones. But I like my wooden ones. I sold all the ones I actually don't use. But the big ones, yes I will try it.
That sounds like a perfect solution! I’m so glad you enjoyed the video, and welcome aboard! Thanks so much for watching and for your lovely comment! ~Kathy xo

I love this idea because having them off the block I can look through them and use them more easily, not to mention how much space I will gain back in my craft room. Thank you so much for sharing. New subscriber here.
Oh, I’m so glad, Patricia! And welcome aboard!! I’m super excited with how much more space I have already and I still have quite a few stamps left to do. Thanks so much for watching and for your lovely comment! ~Kathy xo
I'm going to do this with my biggest stamps only. That would mostly be the background type. They take up the most room! Thank you for showing this process!
You’re very welcome! I think you’ll be amazed at how much you’ll be able to fit in a smaller space. Thanks so much for watching and for your lovely comment! ~Kathy xo
Thanks. This will save so much space in small space.
I’m so glad you enjoyed the video, Lori! I hope it works well for you. Thanks for watching! ~Kathy xo
Wow! Thanks for this! I’m going to do it!
Yay, Pat! I’m so glad you enjoyed it!! Thanks so much for watching and for your awesome comment! ~Kathy xo
I was wondering if you were going to take us along when you turned your wood block stamps to cling stamps and you didn't disappoint. I did this to a few of my favourite stamps (circa 2005) when I learned there is such a thing as a stamp platform back in 2021 when I rediscovered crafting during the pandemic. I didn't have to use the microwave. For some reason my stamps peeled off the wood blocks without any problems. The stamps are from Stampin Up so I just peeled the sticker off the wood blocks and they were still tacky enough to stick to the foam. I don't remember what I used to make the backs tacky but Alene's Tack It Over and Over sounds like a great glue to have on hand. I now have to decide whether to get one bottle or the more economical three pack. 🤔 Thanks for the video Kathy!
Some of the stamps come off much easier than others, particularly the ones with the black or gray cushions. I also peeled the stickers off of the stampin up stamps, and they did stick to the back of the stamp. But I found that trimming around them once they’re adhered to the stamp was far more tedious than simply fussy cutting the impression first. Thanks so much for watching, Wendy! ~Kathy xo ❤️
That is a wonderful idea. Fortunately, I don't have many of those block type stamps. Looking forward to meeting you!!
Thanks, Deb! I’m looking forward to meeting you as well! 😊 ~Kathy xo
Thanks for sharing...My January project is to do this. I have around 8000 stamps. I have collected them since the early 70s!
Goodness! That’s a LOT of stamps! Also, I love your handle. I call myself the high-heeled hippie chick, haha!👢Thanks so much for watching, and I hope you get through that massive project! ~Kathy xo
Thanks!
Oh, Bette-ann, thank you so much! 🥰 ~Kathy xo
I prefer stamps on blocks but thanks for showing the tips and tricks for removing stamps 😊
It seems like every time I try to stamp with a block stamp I mess it up, lol! At least this way I can use my stamp platform. But everyone has their preference and what works best for them. That’s why I love this craft: there’s no one “right” way! Thanks so much for watching, Lucy! Your thank you gift will be in the mail tomorrow.💌 😊(Today the post offices were all closed.) ~Kathy xo
I might leave mine on blocks, too. They’re in zipper bags with a bag-sized piece of cardboard. Stacked with others (about 3) in canvas bags. These were my first “shopping bags”! I upgraded but kept these for carrying other stuff.
Had you thought of using the plastic pockets for windows on your creations?
Sure, whatever works for you! Sounds like you have a great system. 😊 I want to be able to use them with a stamp platform because I could never get a great impression on bumpy coffee-dyed paper. Using the plastic pockets as windows in my journals is a great idea, thanks!! And thanks so much for watching!! ~Kathy xo
Hmm. Interesting. Know that is a good idea, but I sure like seeing all my stamps on the wall, on my spin rack, and other things that hold my stamps. And it really is a problem keeping all those stamps. Some I do have in books. Guess I could start getting rid of ones I don't like. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, Hope! I agree that the stamps are fun to look at. I’m going to get a couple of small floating shelves to display the blocks with the prettiest artwork (minus the stamps). That’s a good compromise for me, beauty and function. I love having them in cases by category which I’m storing alphabetically in my drawer. Michael’s also has some smaller cases for those categories that only have a few stamps. Thanks so much for watching and for your comment! ~Kathy xo
Why do you need the backing foam to be exact match for stamp? Why not just cut approximate but slightly larger shape? Seems that would do the trick fine unless you made it much larger then it may leave a line of ink - but even then if you use the Misty, it probably would work fine. I have a huge drawer full of block stamps than I keep wanting to transform and thanks to this video - so detailed with valuable information - I'm finally going to do it. I do use beautiful small block stamps as decorations in little nooks and crannies of craft room. Makes it fun to walk by and see them.
I’m sure that would work as well. Maybe try it on one or two and if it works, awesome! Personally I prefer the detailed look of the stamp. (I have the Tim Holtz Sonic platform.) Also, I think that cutting it to size would help with the placement on my project. I’m so glad you found the video helpful! Thanks so much for watching and for your great comment! ~Kathy xo
Well i like your idea. Mine are off the blocks. But.... now they all need to be stamped and put on them so i know what they are. Oh boy.😮😂😂😂😂😂 i will have to start that project and get done before its to late. Im 70 now. Lol❤😊
Thanks, Bette-ann! And you can do it!! I’m 68, and although it’s a bit of a process, it’s totally doable. Maybe start with one theme at a time, like florals, then butterflies, etc. The sense of accomplishment is super! Thanks so much for watching and for your support!! ~Kathy xo
I often wonder when I see people pulling out their old wooden block stamps, if we will have any of the same ones. 😂 Thanks for this video. I definitely need to do this for the stamps I can’t bear to toss out. But why couldn’t you just stamp the image (even emboss it), coat it in Mod Podge or diamond glaze, and just adhere it to the back of the image? 😊
I’m using the tissue paper because it’s more flexible than other papers I tried. Also, the film I adhere to the back of the stamp allows me to add the Tack It Over and Over glue so I can use it with my stamp platform. I need the platform so I can stamp repeatedly to get a good impression, which is somewhat difficult when stamping on bumpy coffee dyed paper. But you could sure try your idea on one or two stamps and see how it works. 😊 Like Tim Holtz says, if we’re wondering if something will work, we should definitely try it! After all, it’s only paper, lol! Thanks so much for watching and for your great comment! ~Kathy xo
Thanks for the technique. I admit I'm lazy so I just stamped my wood block stamps on two sheets of copy paper before I de-mounted the stamps. I keep the folded pages in a zipper pouch with the de-mounts in case I need a reminder of the images.
That works too! Thanks so much for watching and for your comment of a great technique! ~Kathy xo
❤
❤️🙂
I think I’ll just leave mine on the blocks
Certainly, whatever works for you! That’s what I love about this craft, there’s no one way to do things. Thanks so much for watching and for your comment! ~Kathy xo
