Šimon Vedl - Wavelets and Quantum Field Theory

Abstract: In this talk I will go through the wavelet-related topics investigated by the group at Macquarie University: Gavin Brennen, Sukhwinder Singh (former collaborator), Dan George, Simon Vedl. These can be divided into two distinct categories, applications of discrete wavelet transform, and applications of continuous wavelet transform.
Our main focus is to understand and utilise the extra variable introduced in the wavelet transform that is often called the scale. The talk will begin with an introduction to wavelet analysis and then proceed with discussion of state compression, AdS/CFT correspondence and wavelet regularisation of QFT by a scale cutoff.
