The front of the passenger side axle tube should have the axle code. And agreed - don't fear the gear! I have 4.56s and an 80E in my daily driver Silverado, it's glorious.
Yeah, I was looking all over that thing and couldn't find it. One of these days I'll just pop the cover off and count the teeth. Maybe lincoln lock it while I'm in there lol
@@SniderTron3000 I've had a few northern cars that required some "automotive archeology" to find the stamped codes on the axle tube. Being a 72... I'm thinking that car has an 8.5" ring gear 10 bolt. Other GM A Bodys had the smaller 8.2 - the BOP version is easy to identify, bolt in axles. (Kind of like a ford 8" or 9") The Chevy 8.2 has normal c clip axles.
I'm not 100% certain, but I've been told that late 80s - early 90s crown vic/grand marquis 8.8s bolt into the 68-72 A Bodies. They're the correct width, etc. Never tried it, as I have a stash of 12 bolts.

You can get a buddy and 1 guy can count how many revolutions the driveshaft makes compared to 1 revolution of the tire and divide to give you the rear end ratio also

Bad ass sounds great. I saved a 71 monte many many years ago still have it to this day some what stock, maybe some day I will go Ls I like what you do great videos.
The higher the number the lower the gear and if you mark the tire and the pinion and turn them over turn the tire one revolution and count the amount the pinion spins you can get pretty close to what gear ratio is in it

That Buick has definitely came along pretty good so the fiero been a while since you talked about it cant wait to see it finished now that monte ss that looks sweet looks like it has quite a set up in it and for last the Chevelle whats going on with it when i stopped down to popatrons it looked like a nice car so whats the plans for it leaving the small block or ls going in it
A cut and buff some race stars or some chrome summit wheels and some sort of cowl hood or the gts I think hood that thing would look mean

Me with 4.88s and a c4 people are scared have a good cooling system and if you don’t have a junk motor it will be fine mine sits at 3600 for 40 mins at a time
Sounds good, looks cool too! I hate to criticize but I always hook up the positive before the negative. I do 1st starts after my installs on aircraft, some are as sketchy as this swap. Until I can verify that it is safe and does nothing wrong. Just about to start one of those, hopefully next week. You would like this one. Waay too much power in a small aircraft that can actually handle it. But you better be a GOOD pilot!

I have a 71 Buick Skylark that I just did a ls swap with a 4l60e if don't mind could tell me what is the length of the driveshaft that you are using? I have to take mine to have it cut or possibly just order one...
