It's clear Leonard is not seeing the whole field. Even on the TV copy you can see he's missing wide open receivers. Only hope vs quality teams is to go to a 2 QB system. You have to be able to throw the ball down field.
I don’t understand it guys. Please try to explain how we do this to a power 5 team after getting beat by some juco team last week…. at OUR home opener??!
100% Coaching. If this was the only time this happened under Freeman, I'd call it a fluke. But, Freeman has proven over his three seasons as ND's coach that he fails to properly prepare these teams to win games, ranked or unranked. Marshall and Stanford in 2022, A beatable Ohio State and Louisville, and a 4-win Clemson team (at the time) in 2023. Good Teams. Okay Teams. Absolute Dumpster Fire Teams... Marcus Freeman will find a way to lose on any given Saturday.
Yes lopsided win but still same Riley Leonard passing problem exists. He's only capable of throwing the simple flat routes. This will not do it against elite SEC teams.
What elite SEC teams do they play from here on out? Lol If you’re talking about the playoffs, then I'll take just making the playoffs and getting beat at this point.
@@GMS8201 playoffs obviously (if they make it) and if there is anyone next season on the schedule. Tex A&M played great today. The win against then should count more to the playoff committee. If we can run the table then we'll face big boys. I hope by then Riley can make throws inside the hashmarks.
I get why some people aren’t sold on Angeli because of his pocket presence. But man, at least he can drop a ball in the bread basket down field. You got two great backs that will run. Angeli will elevate this offense. It’s tough for Marcus I’m sure he doesn’t want to upset boosters for spending money on Riley, but we want dubs. Not care about feelings, to an extent.
Leonard is still a terrible passer. Legitimately terrible. Great runner, hard to sack, but as soon as ND plays a team that’s capable of committing to stop the run, forcing him to throw, we will struggle to move the ball. Defense played great.
You forgot the SMU game, when they were coming off the death penalty with Forest Greg was headcoach, it could have been 80 but Lou told his players to run out of bounds, which is exactly what happened.
@enochhammer70 Isn't scoring TDs the idea? He ran for 3 in the 1st half, and if I'm not mistaken, sat out the 2nd half. Maybe would have scored more? They put more points on Purdue than in the boilermakers entire football career. I guess it's never enough for ND fans.
Great breakdown lads well done. Really hope Billy and Ashton on the Oline are back sooner then later.
Love you guys!! Great coverage!
What a fantastic Saturday ! Go Irish

but that's not going to happen. I'm praying Leonard gets more comfortable and at least be able to hit wide open receivers within 20 yards.
Couldnt agree more.... wide open receivers - and afraid to throw anything remotely contested.

It’s college football?

ND scored 69 on Georgia Tech 14 in 1977. Joe Montana was the QB.

Absolutely. And it's not like he's immobile.

That's pretty much exactly what NIU did! And it'll make me nervous every week now 😅
I think our Wideouts are better than we think. Leonard just CANT get them the ball smh
NIU didn't so much stop the run as ND stopped running Riley because of the injury. STATS bear that out.
they need everyone doubting them to get up for games
11-16 in 1/2 for over 100 yards. That is solid enough

Angeli could at least throw the ball downfiekd.Staying with Leonard is flirting with disaster
Seems like no matter how Leonard plays, its just not good enough for ND fans.
Sam Hartman hangover. Don't forget most fans are idiots and know nothing about football. Go Irish
Can’t throw the ball.

Pretty sure was vs Ga Tech. Was at BC game when they” reenacted” at half and other team was GT
on November 1, 1969, when Notre Dame defeated the University of Pittsburgh 69-13.
Rudy game v GT was 69-14 w some guy named Montana at QB
That was in '77. The Rudy game was in '75.
Steve Angeli is ready onward Notre Dame
Surprised he got in a 24-3 Game
2 more losses with Leonard at the helm.
QB still looks very average throwing....11 passes? that wont cut it making the playoffs
