    Great sound! You have helped me figure out my exhaust set up! Question, did you upgrade the mufflers only, or did you delete the resonators, and go bigger diameter piping from the cat?

    • @tachikaze7
      @tachikaze7  4 года назад +11

      Awesome to hear! So, it's been a while, but if I recall... at the time this video was made, I do believe I had removed BOTH resonators. Key here is - at least based on my research - not to straight pipe it. Seems that result will be VERY loud and will drone at highway speeds. So, I ended up cutting the resonators off, and custom fitting a hi-flow resonator in place. Gave the ride no drone and deepened the tone a bit too. You might ask - what was the part you used? I will look and see if I can find it online. But it have been a while. Basically, any kind of Cherry Bomb type of muffler will work, you just need to make sure you get the same diameter as your piping you are replacing. hope that helps! When you get it all done, post ups vid and drop me the link. Peace!

    great video, sounds really nice. but I was wondering if you knew what I would need to give my car that crackle and pop.

    • @tachikaze7
      @tachikaze7  4 года назад +1

      Thanks for the comments on the video. The simple answer to your question is to get a tune that adjusts the timing, or somehow leaves a certain degree of unburnt fuel in the cylinders to be vented out in the exhaust cycle. This way as the fuel flows through the hot exhaust manifold, it is ignited and creates a "after fire". There are tunes that can create this kind of controlled cycle. Or a turbo anti-lag system, which can do the same. If you are asking because you have a C 300, then AFAIK, only the 2015 (1st gen W205) Sport Edition came with the able to create that sounds you are remarking about - that is what the Merc in this video is. After 2015, all C 300's were not given this feature, as it was offered to the C 450 AMG Sport instead. It only happens in Sport+ mode and is a result of advancing the timing between shifts under hard acceleration. Anyway, hope that helps. Peace.

    Hi buddy, greetings from Singapore…did these mufflers fit perfectly or did you have to purchase additional parts to weld them perfectly to the pipes

    • @tachikaze7
      @tachikaze7  2 года назад

      Hey, Sorry for the late reply... was enjoying Spain. To answer your question: They fit in the sense that diameter to diameter, the stock exhaust pipe and the muffler pipe are the same size (after removing the stock mufflers, of course). There are two ways to fit the mufflers - 1) have them welded on on (the suggested method), or 2) use a pipe coupler (not recommended... but if you have no way to get it welded, this could theoretically work). Hope that helps.
      Peace.

    How you doing your car sounds good and was lookin quick. I have a question I have a go fast bits blow-off valve & diverter valve. I haven't installed it yet, but i see you had a different one that doesn't make the sssssstt!! noise but actually enhanced something in your car. Can you please leave me the link or the info so I know which part because they have so many that all sound the same at go fast bits.. lol!! So far I have an intake in and I just bought a downpipe which I'm going to install but I'm confused with what else I might or might not take off after I install the DP.?? I want that deep sporty sound but I don't want it to obnoxious. I appreciate you for that.....

    • @tachikaze7
      @tachikaze7  3 года назад

      Hey, thanks for the comments. I just went and looked for the GFB DV+ on Amazon, which is where I bought it, I will put the link below. So, as a general rule, that pssst sound is actually counter productive, in that it is compressed, charged air that would be better off recirculated back into the turbo system. The DV+ takes that air and uses it to aid in eliminating turbo lag. Instead of venting it into the atmosphere.
      As for the DP... I cannot speak to the W205, but when I added one to my WRX, putting that on and having an intake on as well, pretty much bumped it up to Stage 2. Like I said, not sure about the Merc, but on my Subie it required a tune to not only get the best performance, but to run correctly. You may want to research this, it you haven't already.
      The DP will introduce some better exhaust sound, but what I learned about the W205 is that the main constriction is in the resonator. The mufflers are also an issue with stifling the sound. But, it you remove the resonator, it will sound VERY raspy. So, the best bet is to remove the resonator and install a small, baffled exhaust - like a cherry bomb. So sound can travel through, but it gets smoothed out.
      Hope that helps. Peace.

    how's your tune been treating you? i had a burble tune by AMR on mine for two months and one of my piston rods blew lol. i hit up renntech and they said they don't offer tunes for the c300 because the engine is super fragile. i ended up upgrading to a c43 and i havent even tuned it but it's kicking ass. id still like to get a c300 again one day because that gas mileage is killer.

    • @tachikaze7
      @tachikaze7  3 года назад +1

      The tune is legit. While it doesn't offer up any exotic crackles or burbles to the engine, it is safe. Totally smooths out the power band and really up's the torque. If you are debating on getting it, and you can wait... check out their website around any holiday. They usually run a decent discount. That's how I got mine. Peace

    • @tachikaze7

      I found them on eBay. I cannot remember the exact seller, but a search should bring them up. The stock paddles are too small and poorly placed for anyone who prefers a 9:30 - 2:30 wheel position. If you find them, be careful when applying them to the stock paddles... once they stick, they stick for good. And the stocks feel like they could snap off if you apply too much force. Hope that helps!

    Hey, I have a 2017 C300 with the AMG package and I have thought about doing the OE tune but I read mixed reviews on the MB forum. Some are happy and others not so much. I have a Dinan chip in mine and it sure makes it quicker but it does nothing about shifting, rpms or the limiter at 133 mph ( this car can easily go over 150 mph, I mean I get to 133 mph in 5th gear ). Are you happy with the OE tune so far? Have you had any issues with it or the dealership?
    I would appreciate any comments and thanks for the video! Your car sounds nice :)

    • @tachikaze7
      @tachikaze7  5 лет назад

      So, I will start by stating that the tune by OE does not adjust any of the 3 factors you just addressed - shifts, RPMs or top speed limit (AFAIK, at least). Being that it is a bench tune, it is a lot like other tunes of its sort - a "canned" tune. Not having had a Dinan, but having looked at it as a option, I cannot make a direct comparison. But I found the results of the OE tune to be evident and I was happy with the performance boost. So, yes... I think the tune is good and worth the money (try to catch them on one of their Holiday sales - I did). I had 2 recall and several services done at the dealership - never had any issue. The tune is loaded into the ECU and (once again AFAIK) undetectable. Unlike BMW, there aren't many choices for tunes for the W205 (non-C63). Not sure this helps with your question at all, but thanks for checking out the vid and the comments!

    • @tachikaze7
      @tachikaze7  Год назад

      HI, David. Yeah, I don't think Magna Flow actually makes an exhaust for the W205 platform. This was done by having the original mufflers cut off and the MF mufflers welded on. I'm not sure if Amazon still sells them, but the actual product part number is in the description. If you go this route, I would definitely NOT recommend removing the resonators - I did not. Not sure if you can still answer this or not since it looks like it’s been awhile. I currently have my my mufflers deleted with the rear resonator as well. (W300 w205 coupe) I’m looking to go a little louder in sound and I’m considering the magnaflow mufflers with both resonators deleted. Any ideas of how this would sound? I have tried a full on muffler and resonator delete and it was way too loud. I’m just looking for something a little louder. Thanks

    • @tachikaze7
      @tachikaze7  3 года назад

      So, my main concern would be that the sound would be loud in the wrong way. Meaning, I think what will be the outcome will be a lot of drone - especially at hi way speeds - and the pitch on the exhaust note will be too high. Kinda like when you hear a Honda Civic with a loud exhaust... it just doesn't sound right.
      Also, there are essentially 2 resonators (at least on mine there was) mid way down the exhaust system. If you want a "louder" sound, but don't want it to sound less dignified, I would suggest replacing the mufflers, for sure, and consider removing the resonators and fitting in something like a Cherry Bomb exhaust there instead. This way, you will increase your sound, but keep it subdued.
      Just a suggestion. Peace!

      Thanks for the comment. So, it's been a minute since I did the upgrades, but what I do remember is that I got the Magnaflow exhausts on Amazon for something like, $83 each. The tune I got from OE Tuning in California... the key is, buy it around a major holiday, cuz they have some nice discounts. Just keep in mind that you WILL have to mail them your ECU. So the car will be inoperable during that time. The carbon fiber spoiler I got on eBay from a solid seller, but I do not remember the store. The DV from Go fast Bits was around $100, I think... look on Amazon for that too. The filter was just a K&N drop in - think it was around $50. Spacers for front and back 10mm & 15mm respectively, were maybe $60 - $100 on eBay. Just be sure they are solid, man. You do NOT want to go cheap on spacers if you go that route. Also, be sure they are hub-centric. Oh, and I think that by the time I made it vid I had actually totally removed the secondary resonator - which if you have the tools, is free. • @tachikaze7
      @tachikaze7  5 лет назад

      So, first bit of advise I would give regarding the OE tune is watch out for their sale. They seem to do one around the bigger holidays. I got a really good deal on their Labor Day Sale. Think it was 40% off... which is real nice. That said, I don't get anything from these people... I just like the tune and the customer service I received. To answer your question, (and this is obviously just based on "feel") I noticed a substantial increase in the mid-range (3k rpm). Top-end seems to have gained slightly - think, hi way speed crushing at 70mph and then you you go WOT - it will push you into the seat, but only slightly more than stock. However, this is not where most 4 cylinders shine (speaking of top-end). Low-end also improves, but this car already was a little beast in this area due to the torque. Mostly, what gets the best, and most notable, improvement is the responsiveness. So is it "worth it"? Well, that is obviously subjective. But you must have felt buying a C300 was worth it... when many other people would argue that buying a Honda and then spending all that extra cash would be worth it instead. IMHO - Get the tune on Sale and you won't be disappointed. Hope that helps!

    • @tachikaze7
      @tachikaze7  5 лет назад

      Not sure what you mean exactly by "turbo sound"... typically, engine with a turbo will reduce the deeper notes in the exhaust (that is why many where initially put off by the newer AMG C63 engine). But, assuming you are asking if the exhaust note is different - Yes, it will be a bit deeper and just a little louder. I noticed no drone at hi way speeds (why I included that boring section of normal hi way driving for audio). The stock mufflers are also huge and heavy. I have a link in the description that will take you to the exact size mufflers you will need for the W205. NOTE: they will need to be welded on. Just so you know that.

    Does your car shift slower in sport +? Mine shifts harder but slower in sport+.

    • @tachikaze7
      @tachikaze7  5 лет назад

      There is at least a small difference between the W205 2015 and all later models... so if you do not have the 2015, then I cannot say for sure. The difference being that in Sport + the timing is advanced between shifts when under hard acceleration, which is what produces that "burp" or "fart" sound. That said, Sport + generally is designed to hold the gear longer - when under aggressive acceleration - so that it may take advantage of higher revs. This would explain your feeling of "harder, but slower shifts" between gears. Hope that helps. Peace.

      @Hydra Law That is correct. Hey, thanks for checking out the vid. I'll try to answer your question(s). If I were to do it all over again... I'd definitely buy the tune. It was solid and never presented any concerns for the welfare of the car. And at the going rate of about $10 per HP gain, it is accurately priced. Most noticeable was the torque increase. That was immediately felt. It does not, however introduce anything by way of crackles to pops between shifts. Or speed limiter removal. It smooths the power curve on the map and increases HP and torque like it claims.

      @@keeury If by "Pops" tune you mean making it crackle and pop between shifts? The AMG Sport edition (which I believe was only released for 2015, before MB went to the AMG C43 in 2016) had an advanced timing feature built in from the factory. This gave it a sort of popping sound between shifts. I cannot say that it would be ok if you have yours tuned to do this. The tune that this video is showcasing does not make those pops - in case that is what you are thinking. That was already a part of the car. Also, while I don't mind offering some feedback on how my experience was with this tune, each person has to decide what is best for them, and what you are comfortable with. 3.on the link to the mufflers I believe the price is around 88 dollars does this include both ?

    • @tachikaze7
      @tachikaze7  5 лет назад

      Thanks for checking out the vid. I will try to answer your questions as best I can. 1) The tune I had on my car did not affect the overall sound of the exhaust note. Some tunes will do that - like create crackling and popping sounds. This is not that kind of tune. That said, the mufflers will sound the same with or without this particular tune. You will gain a slight increase in sound with these mufflers over the stock ones. But it is by no means an Armytrix or something like that - which also cost WAY more, and for a good reason. 2) The K&N drop-in air filter probably, at most, gives 1 or 2 more horses. Really, you will not feel the difference. If the $50 or so is not there for you, then I would pass on this mod. The main benefit with the filter is it breathes a little better and can be cleaned and re-used. 3) If the mufflers are listed at $88 now, then that is still good price - IMO. That is for ONE, SINGLE mufflers. Also, be aware that you will need to have them welded on. Hope that helps.

      This question is a loaded one. Having had a Subaru WRX before, this is a topic that many new owners ask. Basically, the way this works is that ANY modification can technically void a vehicle's warranty "if the manufacturer can prove" that the mod was the cause of a malfunction. That is the key. Having a modified part of your car does not somehow magically "Void Warranty". But, if you mod your car and a failure happens to the car and the manufacturer can prove that it is related to the mod, well... then, yeah, you are SOL. But they still have to PROVE it. Hope that helps.
