  • In todays video, I share with you guys, skincare ingredients you should not mix. These are skincare ingredients that should not be used together because they are skincare ingredients that don’t work well together either because they counteract each other or leave your skin irritated.
    common skincare ingredients combinations are retinoids and Vitamin C, retinoids and AHA/BHA, retinoids and benzoyl peroxide, vitamin C and AHA/BHA, Vitamin C and Benzoyl peroxide.

    Thank you Dr. Janet for this informational video, broken down really well. I’m wondering if you could do an informational video on make up ingredients-pore clogging ingredients to avoid in make up. I have oily skin, prone to whiteheads, and am on the market for an oil free foundation for dark skin. I’ve purchased oil free make up on the past however seem to always break out. You often talk about the skin barriers i wonder if some of routines/techniques commonly practiced when applying make up is damaging.

    Hi Dr,
    Thank-you for your simple explanations and outstanding work.
    I have a question.
    Can I use a benzoyl peroxide (say panoxl/ benzac) in a face wash and then use a vit c serum for the mornings?
    I am using a sylicilic cleanser but after watching your videos i realise I am a candidate ,and would benefit from a benzoyl peroxide ,because I have the acne that is under the skin which leaves red or dark marks even though it hasn’t not come out on the surface.
    I have an oily and sensitive skin.
    Thank-you.

    Can I use adapalene with enthromycin gel that also contains benzoyl peroxide?

    I use Salicylic acid toner, benzoyl peroxide and vitamin C in the mornings. I try to use aloe vera as a moisturizer and my sunscreen. I have been using the benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid in the mornings for years and that is what has helped me control my acne. I want to add retinoids and niacinamide to my evening routine because I have atrophic acne scars. Maybe I will alternate the use of my vitamin C serum. Thanks for this video.

    Hey Doc do you have any recommendations to get rid of chin hair and dark spots caused by PCOS? Preferably drugstore brands like Cerave and The Ordinary

    • @DrJanet
      @DrJanet  3 года назад

      Have u tried alpha-arbutin by the ordinary? Just realized I didn't get back to you on the PCOS. The chin hair is usually a result of high androgen levels. So see your Gynae to help get that under control.

    🙋🏾‍♀️ Question: Regarding BHAs and Retinoids, does it matter whether the BHA is a wash-off product, e.g. CeraVe Salicylic Acid cleanser followed by moisturiser, then Adapalene (Differin)?

    • @DrJanet
      @DrJanet  3 года назад

      You could do that. In fact that is what I do. The reason for not using them together is to minimize irritation. I apply my moisturizer after my retinoids though

      @@DrJanet Thank you! I was being extra careful when I just started using Differin, but I think I can move moisturiser to last step now it's been 6 weeks

      @@mariekemigisa8763 most lightening and brightening creams cause rebound hyperpigmentation especially when you don't protect the skin from the sun. You can use the good molecules brightening toner as well as the brightening serum, you could also use vitamin C and sunscreen in the morning and a retinoid at night. It may take a while but you will see improvement
