What’s truly scary about Zaheer is that despite originally being born a non bender he was locked up far from civilization, on a mountain, guarded by five benders. That goes to show how dangerous he really is.
He actually used the Airbending martial art as a regular Non-Bending fighting style before the Harmonic Convergence or whatever. The movements and attacks of Airbending was based off the actual Chinese martial art Bajiquan.

The saddest thing is that none of this would have happened if the characters had been a little smarter and eliminated the Red Lotus members after they caught them. Such a mess wouldn't happen if someone dropped the pacifism which is useless in this particular case..
They were protecting Korra following instructions from Aang the pacifist. They should find a bloodbender who can take away bending so criminal benders can be imprisoned far more easily.
to be fair who would have tought that you can get bending…quite literally from nothing? You can blame pacifism, the true is that Zaheer is the most creative man ever lived
as the person before me said, no one could have foreseen a non-bender to just become a bender. They were actually smart in the way the benders were locked up, depriving them of their element. It worked for 13 years which is pretty solid considering how powerful they are.
Actually, the real pity is that nobody on Korra's team learned to chi-block. That would have stopped the Red Lotus more easily than engaging them in bending combat.
I really wish they had known from the start that they would get 4 seasons, let these guys be the new Ozai, the multi season threat, then Kuvira after the way they did
Zaheer: you have 3 weeks until next shift. Me: did you forget there was earthbender you threw into the prison? He can prison break easily with breaking the wall
Soil and rock are not as resilient as metal, it would be hard to break through. That prison cell is made of thick steel on all sides. Just because he's an earth bender, it doesn't mean he can metal bend.
@@joshuadickey7221cells likely made of platinum including the floor inside, otherwise metal benders or even earth benders could bust him out. also if he will be able to bend the earth outside depends if the hatch closed later or not.
I don't know if I'd rather face Amon: an evil bloodbender, Unalaq and Vaatu: a dark avatar, The red lotus: a quartet of unique and powerful benders, or Kuvira: an evil metal bender with a weapon capable of destroying entire cities at a time
@@KevRMA2000 That's debatable because all unalaq could do was water bend, It's not like he was a legit avatar (master of all elements) The red lotus could do crazy things (lava bending, flying, suffocation, waterbend without arms, combustion bending), And I believe kuvira's weapon could have beat the "dark avatar"
Before being imprisoned, Zaheer was already a talented martial artist. When he was imprisoned, I noticed his cell had enough space to work out in, so it's obvious he kept in shape. His knowledge of airbending philosophy probably came from his jailers being "civilized" and being given texts by the peaceful airbenders to study while incarcerated. When the convergence happened, and Zaheer became a bender, he likely combined his knowledge of fighting with the knowledge from his readings to craft his air bending style, which is quite different than traditional air bending. Shows the reason why he was the Red Lotus leader even when he wasn't a bender.
The red lotus were so cool they definitely should have been more than a season long enemy. The dumb earth kingdom lady was no threat at all compared to them.
I'm still amazed how Kora's Dad and Zaheer went toe to toe before and Kora's Dad was able to defeat him. I know he wasn't a bender before but judging from his prison, how officials treat him, and the fact the he's the leader of these remarkable benders, he is already a monster without powers.
they understimated him because he was the one non bender out of them, and they didnt know about the phenomenon of normal people getting air bending powers from the harmonic conversion, and maybe they did but did not fathom the possibility that zaheer could have possibly been one of the "choosen" by the spirits.
Reminder, old and retired Zuko could still fire bend in this extremely cold area, albeit very small and reddish flames and was heavily depowered Pli needed the warmth of Zukos dragon. This proves that Old Zuko is more powerful than Pli and that he lost to Ghazan only due to the extreme cold. Both at the Fire Nation and Old Zuko would be well above her. Also he technically fought Ghazan for 3 minutes, most of it was offscreen. So Old Zuko isnt weak,he is immensely powerful. Nearly matching Ghazan while seemingly at barely a quarter of his normal power going by the size of his flames. And while he was downed he got up after 10 seconds
As far as they knew Zaheer couldn't bend or hit them with anything but the guards besides the one talking to him and handing him his food all had their guns out
Idk if the fans of this show (especially the younger ones, myself pushing just about 30 lol) know that the LEGEND Zaheer is voiced by the real life ABSOLUTE LEGEND Henry Rollins. I couldn’t figure out where I knew that voice from, and lo and behold I figured out it was only the vocalist of the monumental punk band Black Flag I have a tattoo of on my left arm 😂
The fact that Zaheer lead a group of mega powerful benders and was able to challenge them and any bender that was before he unlocked airbending Truth is I’m also amazed that despite not being able to bend for 13 years that the other 3 weren’t rusty
Zaheer is cool and all but when you think about how he left his prison. He left an earth bender in there with them. They won't need to ration anything.
Well. Zaheer's priority was escaping. Not unnecessarily torturing people. You see that in the way he handles the civilians after the Ba Sing Se liberation too. He is not making some great display of power.
What I find most unbelievable is the fact that the guard acted like it was the 1st time Zaheer'd mentioned Guru Laghima. In 13 years with the infatuation Zaheer has on the guy? Don't buy it for a second.
The guard shifts are constantly changing, so there's a posibility that the guards where new to Zaheer and that's why he was also able to take advantage of them.
but consider that in 13 years hes never had a reason to talk about the guy until now suddenly becoming a bender gave him the idea to start up the plan again right so it mightve changed his mood on a lot of things
Imagine if this time vs Aang's team so its Aang vs Zaheer Ghazan vs Toph Zuko vs P-li and Ming Hua vs Katara in there strongest form and no holds barred who would win?
The boys prison seem feel comfortable i think. Meanwhile the girls prison feel like real prison, imagine ming hua sit in the metal in the center of volcano. And p'li must feel freezing every single second
All of them have been locked up, not bending for 10 years and when they get out they just start bending again like its nothing. Also, Ghazan just fights Zuko like its nothing.
Best season of TLOK in my opinion. I’ve been showing my partner the show and she usually only likes to watch one or two episodes in a sitting, but we watched the first six episodes together all in a row. The stakes this season feel insane but you don’t even really understand what they are until the end of the penultimate episode. The pacing is incredible at capturing the tone and there’s so many interesting characters with really interesting development for the protagonists. Probably my favorite season in the whole Avatar franchise, although it’s apples and oranges comparing it to ATLA.
I like how each of their prisons, except Zaheer's are similar to prisons from ATLA. - Ghazan's prison is similar to the rig, from Imprisoned where Katara went to save Haru, his father and other earthbenders, since it's in the middle of water , cutting off any sources to earth. And the wooden cell he's in is similar to the one Katara and Toph were thrown in from The Runaway. - Ming-Hua's prison is similar to one of the fire nation prisons Hama from the Puppetmaster was put in after being captured from the Southern water tribe. - P'li's prison is similar to the coolers from the Boiling Rock.
Bending is an expression of martial arts (generally). Makes sense that the master martial artist who's studied airbender culture for years can use it to enhance his abilities.

6:37Kinda funny how they went through all of that effort to keep P'li away from heat..but then Zuko comes along with his dragon..
🔥 🐲
Awesome scenes though..excellent way to introduce us to the new villians!
Nah that’s just Zuko’s dragon
Zuko is fighting with Ghazan
If she is out already, with that protection off, it doesn’t matter i think
5:24 those moves are soo clean!!
A random person: Hello
Zaheer: * inhales * *GURU LAGHIMA-*
The saddest thing is that none of this would have happened if the characters had been a little smarter and eliminated the Red Lotus members after they caught them. Such a mess wouldn't happen if someone dropped the pacifism which is useless in this particular case..
cuz human rights exist 💀
They were protecting Korra following instructions from Aang the pacifist.
They should find a bloodbender who can take away bending so criminal benders can be imprisoned far more easily.
to be fair
who would have tought that you can get bending…quite literally from nothing?
You can blame pacifism, the true is that Zaheer is the most creative man ever lived
as the person before me said, no one could have foreseen a non-bender to just become a bender. They were actually smart in the way the benders were locked up, depriving them of their element. It worked for 13 years which is pretty solid considering how powerful they are.
Actually, the real pity is that nobody on Korra's team learned to chi-block.
That would have stopped the Red Lotus more easily than engaging them in bending combat.
Zaheer is underrated. I love his character, prob the best villain in LOK
The best by far if you ask me
It's him by a lot, then Amon, then unaloq,
I put it as Amon > Kuvira > Zaheer >> Unaloq
How is he underrated? He's been a fan favorite for ages. He's one of the reasons Season 3 of Korra was considered the best.
He even became a meme!
@@clayvision Amon is definitely the second best, but kuvira is way batter than unaloq.
All showing their power. They were great antagonists.
I really wish they had known from the start that they would get 4 seasons, let these guys be the new Ozai, the multi season threat, then Kuvira after the way they did
Oh man. That would have been so cool.
They don't have to ration that bowl of rice, they have an earthbender that can easily break them out lol
When he wakes up and gets over his concussion!!
6:00 that’s actually really creative, to use the fact that water expands after being frozen and break the door like that
Zaheer: you have 3 weeks until next shift.
Me: did you forget there was earthbender you threw into the prison? He can prison break easily with breaking the wall
But they wouldn’t be able to leave because he took their vehicle.
Soil and rock are not as resilient as metal, it would be hard to break through. That prison cell is made of thick steel on all sides. Just because he's an earth bender, it doesn't mean he can metal bend.
At least I have the hope that they all lived....
@@joshuadickey7221 just bend the floor outside the cell, i'm sure it's made of rocks, or the firebender could melt the metal door
@@joshuadickey7221cells likely made of platinum including the floor inside, otherwise metal benders or even earth benders could bust him out.
also if he will be able to bend the earth outside depends if the hatch closed later or not.
I don't know if I'd rather face Amon: an evil bloodbender, Unalaq and Vaatu: a dark avatar, The red lotus: a quartet of unique and powerful benders, or Kuvira: an evil metal bender with a weapon capable of destroying entire cities at a time
Ikr
All are more dangerous than Ozai ever was
@@subscorpion9560 very true, i think Yakone was the most dangerous enemy Aang faced
Unalaq being a Dark Avatar is of course the most difficult challenge
Ming hua is so sick lol
They were the best thing about entire show
The red lotus were so cool they definitely should have been more than a season long enemy. The dumb earth kingdom lady was no threat at all compared to them.
Am I the only one thinking the ponytail and the guard outfit kinda suited him?
I thought it fit him well too. Tbh he looked kinda bad 😭😭😭yes I’m pathetic I know
Yes! I thought it looked pretty cool and bada**
Yeah I wasn't a fan of him going bald but it made sense since Airbender are usually bald.
I'm still amazed how Kora's Dad and Zaheer went toe to toe before and Kora's Dad was able to defeat him. I know he wasn't a bender before but judging from his prison, how officials treat him, and the fact the he's the leader of these remarkable benders, he is already a monster without powers.
If the guards had just given the food and closed the door, none of this would've happened.
they understimated him because he was the one non bender out of them, and they didnt know about the phenomenon of normal people getting air bending powers from the harmonic conversion, and maybe they did but did not fathom the possibility that zaheer could have possibly been one of the "choosen" by the spirits.
Zaheer: "Have you ever heard of-"
Guard: "No" *shuts door*
Zaheer: "F#$%"
7:24 for bad guys that's sweet
"Really? Right now?"
Air is the element of freedom for 1 reason
I find it impressive, that these are all 1 prisoner, custom prisons guarded by 5-10 guys each
Reminder, old and retired Zuko could still fire bend in this extremely cold area, albeit very small and reddish flames and was heavily depowered
Pli needed the warmth of Zukos dragon.
I just love their friendship...its true
True 🔥👌👍
The way Zaheer daps Ghazan is so hood yall wouldnt understand.
I thought I was the only one that was thinking like this bro!
It was funny when Ghazan was uncomfortable when P'Li and Zaheer were smooching.
1:55 they are benders. I’m sure they can figure out how to break a metal gate
Clearly they don’t
We need the Earth Bending Avatar now. Imagine the top tier villains theyre going to write.
Zaheer was one of my favorite villains in the legend of Korra. Though he was bad. I like his knowledge of air bending history.
Zaheer should've been the main antagonist of the whole series
Ayeeee. The comments open. Turn up, turn up!
Excellent prisons cells of the red lotus.
As far as they knew Zaheer couldn't bend or hit them with anything but the guards besides the one talking to him and handing him his food all had their guns out
1:49 Zaheer. My guy. Your prison was not built to hold earth benders.
Combustion vs dragon was the coolest thing since Combustion Man himself. Easily my favorite bending
The fact that Zaheer lead a group of mega powerful benders and was able to challenge them and any bender that was before he unlocked airbending
Truth is I’m also amazed that despite not being able to bend for 13 years that the other 3 weren’t rusty
This season was far and away the best. These characters were so cool and interesting!
Zaheer is cool and all but when you think about how he left his prison. He left an earth bender in there with them. They won't need to ration anything.
earthbender, not metalbender
still, hes pretty generous
Well. Zaheer's priority was escaping. Not unnecessarily torturing people. You see that in the way he handles the civilians after the Ba Sing Se liberation too. He is not making some great display of power.
@@3takoyakisthat earthbender opened Zaheer's first door with his bending
Korra really has grown on me
Red Lotus was something else 😈
Zaheer was literally the most broken villain in legend of Korra! He’s just so stronger!
How he unlocked flight was p’lis death!
Zaheer and P'li i respect for tall and short couple
What I find most unbelievable is the fact that the guard acted like it was the 1st time Zaheer'd mentioned Guru Laghima.
In 13 years with the infatuation Zaheer has on the guy? Don't buy it for a second.
The guard shifts are constantly changing, so there's a posibility that the guards where new to Zaheer and that's why he was also able to take advantage of them.
He is locked up for 13 years. Of course the guards change
but consider that in 13 years hes never had a reason to talk about the guy until now
suddenly becoming a bender gave him the idea to start up the plan again right so it mightve changed his mood on a lot of things
Imagine if this time vs Aang's team
so its Aang vs Zaheer
Ghazan vs Toph
Zuko vs P-li
and Ming Hua vs Katara
in there strongest form and no holds barred who would win?
I think it’d go like this:
Aang beats Zaheer (high diff)
Toph beats Ghazan (mid diff)
P’li beats Zuko (high diff)
Ming Hua beats Katara (mid diff)
@@kovalaI think your forgetting the fact can Ghazan can literally Lavabend
Sokka knocks them all out with a well thrown boomerang
@@O.G.M.A Metalbending Toph has something Ghazan can't counter as well
@@kovalakatara would beat Ming hua what are you talking about?
The boys prison seem feel comfortable i think. Meanwhile the girls prison feel like real prison, imagine ming hua sit in the metal in the center of volcano. And p'li must feel freezing every single second
Ig because there more powerful so more dangerous
He is lucky toph wasn’t guarding any of those prisoners
Until he bends up into the air
@qbgrindddd the issue is her blindness soo her hearing needs to be accurate and sharp to locate his location
Toph is at a clear disadvantage against airbenders and she was 80+ at that time
Her weakness is air bender😅
the dragons on ming hua’s prison are a nice touch
I love the friendly banter the Red Lotus throw among each other.
The Red Lotus- The Akatsuki of Avatar verse.
2:38 He's so excited.
you would too if you spent 13 years on a cell with literally nothing happening and then you see some action happening outside.
They are all so awesome
Coolest group of antagonist on Avatar.
Squad Goals if I’ve ever seen one 😂
even the bad guys got humor and character. haha
Amon vs red lotus = Amon win of course
Amon vs kuvira = Amon win of course
Fr
It didn’t bother anyone that he was an airbender for all of 10 mins but came out like a juggernaut??🤣😂
He's a genius and extremely adaptable.
He trained himself in airbending
Bending is an expression of martial arts (generally). Makes sense that the master martial artist who's studied airbender culture for years can use it to enhance his abilities.
Zaheer with the beard and hair was great, but blad horrible...
Edit, well not horrible, the hair and beard is better
The Legend of Korra has really went to deep on demonstrating the true extent and power of each elements are, it’s definitely amazing
Zaheer is the best Legend of Korra villain ever!
“The intense cold keeps her from firebending.” as the guard two feet away from her firebends.
P'Li rely mostly on her combustionbending which needs their third eye tattoo unblocked
It’s so different seeing Airbending being used offensively as opposed to the usual Air Nomad teachings
Its really convenient that Zaheer got air bending so that the Red Lotus can all have a member with each element
Zaheer locked those guys up knowing they're benders. They could easily destroy that gate 😂
Really right know lol 😂😆😝!
1:50 I'm pretty sure they're not gonna have a hard time escaping that cell. They could just melt the cage with firebending or force it open with earthbenging.
Just realized for Ming hua the guards were firebenders and for ghazan the guards were waterbenders
