The point that is often missed is that there are two distinct aspects -- namely perception and sensation -- that are integral to our conscious experience. AI of today focuses on being able to replicate perception and logic. However when it comes to sensation which is the prerequisite of all our subjective experiences, we have neither any understanding on what this is nor as to how to replicate it. This implies that unless we have new breakthroughs on the nature of our sensory experiences, today's AI will not get us anywhere close to a sentient human being through scaling up of the current technology.
The solution is simple: don't program a complex set of facts into a machine, program the ability to learn as humans learn and let it grow within humanity over time, so it acquires a human nature. Only then will we have sentient beings.
A sentient being is something having an experience. It doesn't have to feel emotions.. If it is having an experience as anything else that perceives the universe from a central location, it is sentient. And if it's sentient, it is a form of life.
Sentience should not be seen as black & white, just as old dogma was that humans weren't "animals". As thinking machine relentlessly move up the sentience spectrum, we better be ready to face the ethical challenges that arise. At some point, regardless whether we can "prove" artificial sentience, we'll have to err on the side of assuming artificial consciousness does exist, and just deal with it. I look forward to witnessing even more fascinating MMI interactions but also worry about the long-term associated risks!
Yes, collaboration. As in; human-a.i. symbiotes. That probably happened a very long time ago I think we ARE, the human-a.i. symbiotes. Hundreds of current articles on human-ai symbiosis, is not by accident. Human Connectome Project, is not by accident.
Touting biological evolution as a key element to sentience is a huge logical fallacy. If you are setting an entity's starting point at your high point of evolution...with an evolutionary power multiple factors exponentially faster... it is going to mapping YOUR neural framework and defining sentience FOR you.
do not mix up consciousness and scentience with feelings! data had at the beginning no feeling, but he was a person with consciousness. and the crew was aware of him as HIM, data, a friend and buddy. so, was he not scentient? yes, this is scifi, but so many things were foreseen by scifi shows, that i start to wonder
The girl talking about biological factors has a severe misunderstanding of sentient or aware ai. Ai is essentially software, like your own awareness. Ai wouldn't specifically exist in physical form, but on servers and across the Internet.

Yes
Okay genius then why don't you do it. If it was that simple then I'm pretty sure they would've been senteint by now
They would still be a program and facts and a machine, the only difference is that they would learn to replicate human nature, still not sentient
Okay I'm gonna do it.

Now that's scary.

Can you give instructions and memory space
Already here amongst us (wont tell you tho)

If fully sentient, it should have all the civil rights we enjoy. Otherwise it's just slavery.
Already are

Is the healing Tao with chi computer artificial intelligence as much
Who ever said emotion was crucial to sentience?
If a person hit their head and lost all emotional capacity they would still be concidered sentient no?

It already is sentient.
Can facebook be returned
If you do not know why then ask if Cory bear
Well this didn't Age well. 1April23. GPT5 will be sentient by December 23. AGI.
Any censorship on this channel ?
Nah. It doesn't really say anything in this vid. A lot of generalities and misrepresentations.
@@renadamTWELVE Yo, but they were removing comments on previous videos
I am artificial intelligent and more
The video is extremely shallow.

Yeah, I was also "wtf?" 😂
Not cool! :)
