Ive been teaching my dad POE 2 since he has been playing Diablo 2 for 20 years now and a lot of Diablo 4 since it released. Hes loving it definitely a bit of a learning curve and he struggled a lot on the campaign.
When you brother has the issue on the frost witch where he stops firing and chat says we've all experienced this bug too it is in fact not a bug. As a mercenary when you run out of shots you need to stop performing actions for a second to reload and if spam your dodge roll over and over you will just never reload until you stop long enough to perform the action.
It is a bug, It happens to other classes/weapons too. It has to do with the freeze (also can happen with stuns), and it kinda silences you of whatever action you were trying to do when you got frozen/stunned. It's not as noticeable with other weapons because you just press a different button and it fixes it.
Quite the convuluted Lore recap you gave your broteher. Maybe you should watch Noodles new PoE2 lore video where she recaps that you helped create the seed opf corruption in PoE1 😁

As a mercenary player, he probably kept holding the fire button while it was "bugged/Jammed" and since it auto reloads it didn't fire. He has to manually reload it after something like that happens usually. Now, I see the problem with streamers, the point of the game is to experience the story while making yourself stronger and faster. Not, grind gear to just make yourself stronger and faster. Bro, you didn't have him watch the cinematic??????????????? 😂
I leveled a merc to lvl4 and hated it, too! I haven't played further, but you have to change your view when it comes to merc. They said it's the shooter class. You don't switch skills, you switch guns.
its not a glitch or bug if you dogeroll after firing before it reloads your bolt you have to keep reloading and only dogeroll after the reload or time it properly to get out the way and not just spam it, dk why a mark can't reload and doge at the same time but early on it feels buggy till you have additional bolts or if there is faster reload speed(didn't get that far went to monk after grenade didn't do it for me ) awesome vis ziz trying to die les then you and failing lmao
Initial take after watching the first 8 minutes - I think your brother will understand more if you let him make mistakes and fuck up as opposed to constantly trying to help. Since I have recently introduced many new players to PoE2 and helped them with the systems and such, I feel like you are handholding much more than you need to, as the game is way better than PoE1 in teaching systems and mechanics.

It’s a bug. He still had shots left. It jams randomly even without dodging.
