I can't believe there are people who have hundreds of likes in their comments that are all about sadistic shit about killing the shooter... Two wrongs don't make a right. Instead of promoting police shooting people dead with less hesitation, I think it'd be a pretty damn good idea to strip overdosed people of all weapons before waking em up. Absolutely the dude was a piece of shit who killed an innocent firefighter, but calling for blood and "he should have been dragged by the ambulance" etc. is just the path to becoming one of these fucks.
@@sarcasm-83 I think a lot of people are just venting and aren't really sadistic. Rest In Peace Mitch Lundgaard _Mitch was a 14-year veteran of the Appleton Fire Department when he tragically lost his life in the line of duty. It started as a routine medical call at the city’s transit center, when a man who had been revived after a drug overdose opened fire on police officers and firefighters who had just saved his life. Mitch died of a gunshot wound to the chest._ _While Mitch had a passion for serving and helping those in need, his family was the most important thing in his life, and it was obvious to everyone who knew him. He was a loving son and brother. He was married to his high school sweetheart, Lindsey, for 12 years. His love for Lindsey was demonstrated daily, and they were best friends. He was a devoted and amazing father to his three sons, Evan, Logan, and Ryan, who were nine, seven, and four at the time of his death. He loved spending time with his boys. On his days off, he was home with the boys and loved having that time with them when they were young. As they got older, he enjoyed coaching and watching his boys play in their many sports. He loved taking his family to Disney World every year, and we think he even had more fun than the boys!_ _Being in good shape was important to Mitch. He spent a lot of time running and exercising. Right before he went on his last call, he convinced the guys at the station to try to do 100 Man-Makers (Cross Fit exercise). They had completed 50 when the call came in. They are now referred to as “Mitch-Makers” within the department and with many people in the Appleton area._ _In his free time, he loved to golf and watch Packer or Brewer games. Sunday afternoons at Lambeau Field was one of his favorite places to be! Go Pack Go!_ _During his career, Mitch spent eight years as a firefighter/inspector before returning to the line in January 2019 as a relief driver. He completed several trainings at the National Fire Academy for fire investigation and was a Certified Fire Investigation (CFI) Technician with the International Association of Arson Investigators. He was an active member of the Wisconsin Search and Rescue Task Force. Mitch held an associate degree in fire protection and was two classes away from earning a bachelor’s degree in fire and emergency response management from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Mitch was strong and confident in his career and built many great friendships and bonds with his AFD brothers. He was posthumously promoted to driver/engineer._ _Mitch is missed every single day by his family, the fire department, and his friends. His legacy will live on forever within the community of Appleton_
So beautifully & thoroughly written, thank you. Life can be so unfair even to an outstanding person like Mitch. A true hero. Condolences & 🌞 to his family & friends, from apparently one of his favorite places filled w/great memories....Florida.
An honorable mention goes to the family of the shooter. They put out a statement acknowledging that the officers made the correct decision in shooting him after they saw the body cam footage. It is refreshing to see a family mourn the loss of a loved one and also have the courage and character to stand by law enforcement through their pain
I agree with your statement. It's very sad and I pray I'm never in their shoes but to acknowledge the wrong doing of their son must have been hard to do after losing him, yet they still did. It just sucks this even happened in the first place
My nephew is an EMT, and he was on this call. Luckily, he was getting things out of the truck and didn’t get on the bus. Such a rotten man to want to kill someone trying to save your A$$.

Appleton Wisconsin. May Fifteenth 2019. One paramedic was un-alived while on duty. I’m not sure but I think the lady was actually injured with a projectile from one of the cops.
My one and only son is a fireman. His father was killed in a horrific motorcycle accident three days before his first day. The only day that he took off was the day of his father's funeral the following Saturday. The very next day he returned back to work. I asked him if he was sure that he didn't need time off. He said mama I am returning to work because I want to save lives😢 Heartfelt condolences to the family of the hero who saved the life of a coward to only lose his in return. Thank you for your services. May you rest in eternal peace.
Your son sounds like an amazing man. A son to be truly proud of. You and his Father must be amazing parents to raise such a son. Prayers for strength and protection whilst your son performs his duties. 🙏🙏
devilsden the officer said she but the firefighter is actually a man from the articles I’ve read. Edit: they were actually treating the female bystander, the firefighter was in fact a man
He took a hostage got her wounded, killed his saviour. Begged for his life and then killed his helpers. That's gratitude for you, the poor family left without a father.
The restraint these cops show after all of that and that waste of oxygen still being a threat is incredible. These are some of the most compassionate cops I’ve seen. It’s crazy to think on the other spectrum are some terrible cops when these guys exist.
@@isitoveryet9525 Actually it literally does. It means that their job is many times less dangerous than other normal jobs. You are less likely to be killed as an officer than as a taxi driver

In Germany he would not have been punished severely. He shot someone, there is usually a life sentence. But that's only a maximum of 15 years here. Then he did it in affect. He was also drugged and the police forced him to be examined. Then he felt threatened and shot. Maximum penalty 7-8 years. That's the law in Germany. I would rather live in America. There are still just punishments.
@Mark Travis I want to agree with you, but I’ve had more than one person I love die from opiate overdoses. Opiate addicts usually do fatally OD, but some get sober, and live happy lives. My father OD’d, and so did three of my friends. They all died.

Mitch Lundgard, you are an American hero. I hope your family gets all the blessings and healing they deserve and i hope you're at peace and blessed on the other side.
Totally. And the reason laws are so harsh (at least here in aus) for assaulting members lf emergency services. I have a friend that pulled his arms towards himself whilst getting handcuffed and instead of resisting arrest, got charged with assault, which I see as an abuse of this law...but this video made it so clear why these laws exist. It is totally unfair that a police/fire/ambulance worker doesn't get to go home to their family, all because they were just doing their jobs. This gave me such an adrenalin rush just watching it... I feel so sad for the families of the victims. Totally unfair.
i still wonder in a lot of cases, and im not even from the states, search for videos on "pregnant woman shot" if you can give me one good reason about those shootings, im gonna give you some money..yeah i have money to spend. please share your intelligence with me on those videos sir...
And this is why when I worked in Fire/EMS in the 80's/90's we would put soft restraints on all patients before using Narcan on them! Many times, they were hypes and would get pissed because you ruined their high, but it would have quite likely prevented this tragedy!
this is absolutely gut wrenching. i am shocked, rest in peace hero. you’re not forgotten. bless all those who witnessed and had to deal with this, i can’t fathom that trauma.
They actually had more than enough grounds to cuff him. He just overdosed. He was making irrational statements. He was having trouble forming clear and concise thoughts and speech. He did everything he could to stop the officer from patting him down. (Huge clue right there) He made numerous statements that he took prescription drugs not prescribed to him. (Crime committed). All these things together gave them more than enough reason to cuff him. The officers were too nice to him after a certain point. Unfortunately their niceness caused someone their life. Always cuff the overdosed party for officer safety and their safety. There is a high probability that after being given narcan the person will wake up combative. If they are cuffed then it is no big deal. They can be combative all they want to because they are cuffed and are very little threat. If they aren’t cuffed, well, now you know the possible outcome. Just because you cuff people doesn’t men they can’t be uncuffed. RIP to the firefighter.
@@CNW0a drug did not cause him to fire his weapon at the police and by standers. He made a choice to draw his weapon because he did not want to go to the hospital. The police wanted to search him because he had to be transferred due to an overdose. It is required they be searched before being transferred for a medical emergency in this situation. For whatever reason it would have brought jail time I’m assuming and he wanted to get out of the situation so he used his weapon. He was entirely sober when he decided to fire his weapon. Guns don’t kill people either by the way, people do.
And if he passes out again and die from his overdose his family would blame EMT and cops for not saving him. He’s a criminal that’s why he refused to get patten down

Kevin Murphy You have absolutely zero perspective. The guy was a drug addict going through withdrawal due to the medication that was administered by the paramedics, he was angry and didn’t want to go to jail. That’s a cocktail for destruction. How do you think he got hooked on drugs in the first place? Why do you think he had a gun? There are a million possibilities as to how he could have come into the situation that you see in this video. The person you responded to is 100% right in his assessment of the situation. The killer in the video did not wake up that morning and think about how much he wants to kill some emergency responders, that’s a ridiculous, completely emotional conclusion to make based on the video. All I said about the killer can easily be applied to the man who was unfortunately killed as well. But this is life, the firefighter and Houston could’ve easily been in the opposite shoes of each other had each of their lives developed differently. So yes, the entire situation is heartbreaking... A man died, and his family is going to be in grief for a very long time. And a drug addict who wasn’t in his right mind (this isn’t an excuse, it’s just the reality of the situation) murdered someone, and when he sobers up in prison and has years behind bars to think about his actions, he’ll most likely be in a state of constant guilt for the rest of his life. Life isn’t as black and as you seem to think it is.
Llethander Crazy how Llundgaard was one of the first to his aid, saved his life, stands inches away from him afterwards, and gets shot and killed by this guy for no reason. And it looks like he leaves behind young kids. Messed up world.

Ralph Northam was he technically a criminal tho? he overdosed sure, but they hadn’t accused him of any crime. They asked him to go to the hospital because he’d been given narcan and he started shooting. Editing this to say I’m not defending the suspect. I’m trying to defend the firefighter by saying his death isn’t his own fault. It’s the suspects fault. The firefighter and officers didn’t realize the danger till the very last second before he shot
@Ralph Northam That's really easy to say while watching the video, but this guy didn't look like the type of guy to carry a gun on his hip, so the firefighters didn't think they were in danger.
@Ralph Northam hindsight is 20/20. The guy didn't really exhibit indicators that he was violent u til he started shooting. If anything the police should have done a pat down sooner, probably while he was unconscious in his seat. But alas in 2019 a pat down for a Terry stop is racist if it's performed on a black person.
Mitch Lundgaard was the fireman that was shot and killed. He was married with three young children at home. He was an outstanding person from what I have seen and read. 14 years of service!!!!
I watch a lot of these kinds of videos and it blows my mind the lack of security police officers have. Maybe its just the way i was taught when i was in the infantry, but you'd think the first thing the officers would do is search the individual to ensure safety.
The officer was way too casual and hands off with this front the jump. He didn’t want to do any hard work that day he just wanted to be the good guy who didn’t press the issue.
I cannot imagine the pain that the Llundgaard family is experiencing. The universe is chaotic and utterly unjust. The word tragic is overused, but this incident is truly tragic. Potandthekettle 1) it is a crime to take prescription pills that are not prescribed to you. 2) therefore the guy who was unconscious committed a crime 3) the suspect admitted to the crime 4) therefore the officers who are paid to uphold the law were doing there best to get this guy the help he needed and to follow the law which is why they would need to get “crisis” involved. @@Potandthekettle I was talking about the procedures that all three civil servant need to take, police, paramedics and firefighters "the ONLY procedure they should be following". Police procedure takes into account constitutional rights as well. Yes, they do pledge to uphold and defend the Constitution, that's the end goal here. But I'm talking about procedure that the police operates on to be consistent, professional, something practical. Just like the common law, these procedures are built upon precedents, cases, and practical application of the law over the time. I wish we live in a simple world where we only live by few rules but we don't live in that world. The constitution is important, I know, but don't be so single minded that you don't take into account other factors. By the way my media comment could've use a little clarification, I meant the effect the media frenzy will cause to the police, paramedics and firefighters. The media frenzy will cost the paramedics, firefighters, and especially the police slot of flak from the public and you know how the mainstream medias are. It may not sound so important to you personally but it affect the people working in those three civil servants sectors. You can already see this happening. They want the police to be defunded. Police without proper funding will turn out shit. Like the saying goes, you get what you pay for. If you want a real life example of shit policing just look at South Africa, a place where majority of the policing is done by private security companies, which doesn't have to swear an oath to protect the constitution. Btw, leaving the man to die? It might be easy for you to say that from a position of hindsight. Do you know what Duty of Care is? And the possibility of a major lawsuit if the guy dies and knowing that they could've gotten him to the hospital but didn't because CONSTITUTION! A lot of them are gonna be fired for not doing their job properly. It might not affect you while you sit at your home preaching and insulting people in a comment section of a video for almost a year and saying that upholding and defending the constitution is the only procedure that they need to follow. But many lives would've been ruined. But what happens to those people doesn't matter, right?
How y'all weren't expecting that absolutely blows my mind. That guy gave every warning signal possible with his reactions/behavior as soon as a pat down comes into play. I would've been hand on gun anticipating his every move. Dude literally lifted his shirt, unsnapped the holster, and pulled it out, chambered one, and that's when they finally reacted. Wow. Just wow. He would've been weed fertilizer as soon as he stepped back and got all sketchy. Thank you BLM. You produce such amazing members of society.
The weird behavior, and his standoffish demeanor is because he was given Narcan which very quickly will stop your body absorbing any more and all of the things he is doing are like 1 to 1 the side effects you'd find on the back of the box and while its not getting worse all the mopiest in his system haven't gone anywhere and everything that made it to your brain already will take time. dont get me wrong theres a few things that could have easily happened to avoid all of this, not a justification for that dude being a dick.
did anyone else hear him say "Ah fuck it" right before he pulled the weapon out and started firing ? I guess he made his choice ...RIP to the Firefighter and my prayers go out to the family. This kind of shit just makes my soul hurt

Imagine saving someone, that doesn't want to be saved to begin with, only to be killed by that person after saving them and then retaliate against that person and then try to and re-save them.
I dont think he was in any danger of actually dying. He would've come out of that high sooner or later. People go out like that all the time. I know this from first hand experience. So his life technically was never in danger in this encounter. 2 shots of narcan to come out of an OD? Hardly fatal. When you get to the 4+ shots of narcan needed then I'd worry he was going to die.
Why for defending himself AGAINST criminal law enforcement terrorists. They moved to assault him first. His body his right wether he wants to go to a hospital or not. The terrorist traitors caused it to happen if they would have let the firemen handle it and left the man alone and not terrorised and bullied the man nothing would have happened.
It tears me apart that three cops watched a guy pull his shirt up to reveal a gun they knew was there, clear the holster, cock and fire it before they reacted. It's like watching a car crash in slow motion.

Rest In Peace Mitch Lundgaard
_Mitch was a 14-year veteran of the Appleton Fire Department when he tragically lost his life in the line of duty. It started as a routine medical call at the city’s transit center, when a man who had been revived after a drug overdose opened fire on police officers and firefighters who had just saved his life. Mitch died of a gunshot wound to the chest._
_While Mitch had a passion for serving and helping those in need, his family was the most important thing in his life, and it was obvious to everyone who knew him. He loved taking his family to Disney World every year, and we think he even had more fun than the boys!_
_Being in good shape was important to Mitch. He spent a lot of time running and exercising. Right before he went on his last call, he convinced the guys at the station to try to do 100 Man-Makers (Cross Fit exercise). They had completed 50 when the call came in. They are now referred to as “Mitch-Makers” within the department and with many people in the Appleton area._
_In his free time, he loved to golf and watch Packer or Brewer games. Sunday afternoons at Lambeau Field was one of his favorite places to be! Go Pack Go!_
_During his career, Mitch spent eight years as a firefighter/inspector before returning to the line in January 2019 as a relief driver. He was posthumously promoted to driver/engineer._
_Mitch is missed every single day by his family, the fire department, and his friends. His legacy will live on forever within the community of Appleton_

They actually had more than enough grounds to cuff him. He just overdosed. He was making irrational statements. He was having trouble forming clear and concise thoughts and speech. He did everything he could to stop the officer from patting him down. (Huge clue right there)
He made numerous statements that he took prescription drugs not prescribed to him.

ITS DIVERSITY!
@@tubemember21 "didn't really exhibit indicators that he was violent"? Didn't you look at him?
Mitch Lundgaard was the fireman that was shot and killed. He was married with three young children at home. He was an outstanding person from what I have seen and read. 14 years of service!!!!
That just made it that much worse for me, those poor kids.
Sucks! Praying for his family and friends. This sure didn't make CNN!

Pommie bears A Mother loses her hero son😢
I watch a lot of these kinds of videos and it blows my mind the lack of security police officers have. Maybe its just the way i was taught when i was in the infantry, but you'd think the first thing the officers would do is search the individual to ensure safety.
The officer was way too casual and hands off with this front the jump. He didn’t want to do any hard work that day he just wanted to be the good guy who didn’t press the issue.
Officers did a great job! Very patient.
An absolute tragedy for the firefighter and his family, all because of this junkie bum, RIP Mitch 💕🇬🇧

I'm with you 💯! Fucking junkie loser should have aspirated on his puke!

@JOHN DOUGLAS 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Your intelligence is astounding 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I cannot imagine the pain that the Llundgaard family is experiencing.
The universe is chaotic and utterly unjust.
The word tragic is overused, but this incident is truly tragic.
I hope his family can recover and not let this evil define their lives.

Absolutely heartbreaking for the firefighter - may he rest in peace.

The officer should have tried to check him quickly when he was knocked out.
R.I.P Mitch Lundgaard. I hope his family finds comfort in knowing what a hero he was here on Earth. He gave his life to saving people in need. So sad it ended the way it did. I'll pray for peace for his family and friends.

@@Potandthekettle If you said "potato", and I shot you for saying potato, could I then argue that you wouldn''t have gotten shot if you didn't say potato? Of course not, you'd call me a psychopath for shooting you for saying potato (assuming you're sane).
Potandthekettle
1) it is a crime to take prescription pills that are not prescribed to you.
2) therefore the guy who was unconscious committed a crime
3) the suspect admitted to the crime
4) therefore the officers who are paid to uphold the law were doing there best to get this guy the help he needed and to follow the law which is why they would need to get “crisis” involved.
When people follow the law these things won’t happen.
@@Potandthekettle omg are you blaming a female dude wtf man thats fcking sexist lol
@@Potandthekettle I know you're more than likely trolling, but if you watch and listen to that full thing they do say (firefighter and the guy that was on the bus in the blue shirt) that he needs to go, dude was being sketchy as fuck aswell. Now if they felt or seen the weapon on his hip treating him and removed it none of this woulda happened. I dont know US laws about having a firearm while under the influence, assuming it's a no no and I'm gonna assume he wasnt meant to have it either with the reaction. Everyone there was nothing but nice to the guy, no-body there needed to die. All round it was needless and in my opinion if that guy was that willing to kill someone no matter who they where (no targeted aiming) he doesn't deserve support from anyone. Would you have done the same in that position? Just shoot randomly at a bunch of people that saved you minutes prior?
Rip Mitch Llungaard x, a Husband with 3 children who never came home x
All because that dude was strapped and didn't want to go to the hospital, I wouldn't mind but they saved his life needlessly and he murders the man who saved him

@@nardcore661 sorry didn't mean to sound rude x, that's what I meant
@@Potandthekettle You expect them to just up and leave from the situation? They have procedures to follow. You know how bad that would reflect the emergency services images if they were to leave a unhealthy man alone just like that? The consequences that'll follow? They would've been fired, the media would have a field day with that story.
@@Potandthekettle I was talking about the procedures that all three civil servant need to take, police, paramedics and firefighters
"the ONLY procedure they should be following".
RIP to that dedicated firefighter.
