One thing to know about Queen is that all four band members were not only very, very talented… all four of them were VERY intelligent, educated men. - Freddie Mercury (lead vocals, piano): degree in Art and Graphic Design - created the band’s “coat of arms” logo, and designed and/or sourced most of their early “glam” stage costumes. - Brian May (lead guitar): PhD in Astrophysics - built his own guitar The Red Special (with the assistance of his father) as a teenager, made from scraps and bits around their house- it’s still his MAIN guitar almost 60 years after it was completed! He consults/collaborates with NASA and The European Space Agency, is a recognized expert in Stereoscopic 3-D photography (owner of the revitalized London Stereoscopic Company), a respected animal rights activist, and a published author. Recently knighted by King Charles. - Brian is considered a legitimate genius, with an estimated IQ of 180-185. - Roger Taylor (drums) : began as a Pre-Dentistry student but “got bored with it”, switched majors and got his Bachelor’s of Science in Biology. Has quite a wide vocal range himself, he is the one hitting the insanely high soprano-like notes in the operatic-type chorus . Roger is charming and very straightforward and has no patience with idiots, lol. - John Deacon (bass) : First Class Honours (equivalent to graduating “summa cum laude”) in Electronic Engineering, and *at least began* studying for his Master’s degree in Acoustics and Vibration Technology (unclear if he completed it), builder of the Deacy Amp from scraps he found in a dumpster and a cheap speaker cabinet. This unassuming little amp, when paired with Brian’s homemade guitar, allowed for the mimicking of orchestral instruments- these two pieces of inexpensive equipment were vital to creating THE signature Queen sound unmatched by any band of their era. John Deacon was also the financial brains of the band, keeping track of all income and expenditures, liaising between the band and the business suits of the record label, and reviewing contracts for fairness. He kept them from going bankrupt before they could reach full success.
That description was everything you needed to know about their background. When I was 18 for my birthday, a friend got us tickets to the concert of the release of the second album. I was able to watch them live and it was truly amazing. Brian May was jumping from speaker to speaker while playing his guitar, and it was corded. They did not have wireless back in the 70's. When the aporetic part of Bohemian Rhapsody happened you heard the vocals all around the place while it was pitch dark. When the rock part came back in they had actually went under the stage and changed into these glam costumes and then explosions happened and they were back to finish the song out. It was incredible. At the end of the show, Freddie came out with a big white fluffy bathrobe and had a huge bouquet of roses that he proceeded to throw offstage one by one as a farewell to the crowd for the evening
So glad you liked it. The day in 1975, that this video was shown on the BBC pop music programme, 'Top of the Pops', was the day I fell in love with Queen.... ♥ The Best Band Ever...
I saw you got the group fact below. But Queen was the best group ever, and Freddie the best lead vocalist and performer ever. Their live shows were phenomenal and Live Aid in 1981 was considered the best live performance ever, the complete set…they were only allowed a 20 minute slot, it was a charity event in front of millions on TV and a live crowd there of about 75,000. You’ve heard many of their songs, you just don’t know it was them. We Will Rock You, We Are The Champions, Another aOne Bites The Dust…They’re legendary. Freddie’s legendary. Enjoy…hope you check them out more. Love if my life, Somebody to love, live, Innuendo, White Queen, Mother Love, .. so many I can’t even list. Too many. Everyone loves them, with Freddie.
Damn they wrote we are the champions and another one bits the dust?!?!?! thats crazy! I will be reacting to more queen soon! I appreciate your comment and all the knowledge you gave me!
They have many songs you absolutely 💯 know. "We Are The Champions" & "We Will Rock You" for sure! The only group where every member wrote a top 10 hit. Freddie was the greatest frontman of all time. No one could control a crowd like him. Brian, Roger, & John -amazing. I agree that "Somebody To Love" Live In Montreal is next!
Your journey down the Queen path cannot be complete without Bohemian Rhapsody. In fact, your journey into great MUSIC of the past cannot be complete without Bohemian Rhapsody! Bohemian Rhapsody, was released in 1975 on the album "A Night at the Opera" which does give a hint as to the musical genre. Freddie Mercury was a huge fan of opera so this song was written as an operatic suite consisting of five distinct parts: an acapella intro, a ballad segment, an operatic passage, a hard rock section, and a reflective coda. Generally it is classified as rock-and-roll, but specifically as a "rock opera" and "progressive rock." Truth is, labeling any Queen song, or Queen the band, is next to impossible! "Bohemian" describes an unconventional, artistic style with freedom and individuality as key elements. "Rhapsody" in musical composition refers to a single work comprised of episodic, diverse pieces arranged into a free-flowing structure designed to heighten emotions. This song came to be because Freddie had pieces of songs he never completed, so he put them together, each section totally different yet masterfully blended into a truly epic masterpiece. It is the band's magnum opus, and is unanimously considered one of the best songs ever written. As for the meaning of Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody", Freddie was purposefully vague. As with most of the greatest songs, the lyrics are poetic and mysterious. Are they literal or figurative? As separate pieces initially, should the song have a singular meaning? Who knows! The meaning is open to interpretation for each listener to decide, based on how the music and lyrics touched them. You will read comments claiming the song's meaning, but the fact is, the entire band has never stating a specific meaning and has been firm that there isn't one.
You must react to liar at the rainbow this is young queen in their 20s and ow I'm here live at wembely 1986 watch them rock 72,000 people. Great reactio. Xx
I remember when this was released in 1975, it was a game changing moment both musically and in the video. We were amazed and I've been a massive Queen fan ever since. Freddie Mercury is the best frontman of any band, ever.
Queen are a British rock band formed in London in 1971 by Freddie Mercury (lead vocals and piano), Brian May (guitars, vocals, keyboards), Roger Taylor (drums, vocals, percussion) and John Deacon (bass guitar, guitars, keyboards). Each of the band members composed many famous songs. Freddie died in 1991 from complications caused by AIDS. A few years after Freddie's death, John (severely traumatized by this) decided to leave show business and no longer be a public figure. Brian and Roger still perform as "Queen+" with Adam Lambert as their vocalist.

Iconic band and iconic song. I never get tired of hearing this one, thank you for your time and for your reaction. A good song to check out next from Queen is Somebody To Love live at Montreal 1981. You will get a dose of how much this band brings to every show and how much control Freddie has as a Frontman and as a vocalist. You will see his confidence, stage presence and how he works the audience, Queen is perfection live. Once when Freddie was asked during an interview what his favorite instrument to play was he replied "The Audience of course, Darling."
Hey Dex! This song is so DOPE that Freddie's handwritten lyrics manuscript pages just sold at auction for 1.7 Million USD. The snake bracelet you can see at piano close-up sold for 881,000. USD. FYI, the "four heads" intro was all Freddie multi-tracking the harmonies. The subsequent choir-like harmonies are all Queen, no back-up vocals, using the same multi-tracking techniques. Thanks for your reaction. Cheers!

@@imweakfordeaky Fleeing religious persecution from Muslims in Persia sometime between the seventh and 10th centuries, the Zoroastrians settled in India, where they came to be called “Parsis.” Like Freddie Mercury, they worked to integrate into their new surroundings. John Deacon played most everything on that track... and then there's Freddie's falsetto throughout.... LOVE IT!

Dude! Please pause it if you have a comment about what you just heard!!! I hate waiting until the song is over to hear your comments and trying to remember the part of the song that you are referring to. I'm pretty sure that I'm in the majority with this opinion. Keep up the good reviews!!!!
