Oh god I'm from the UK (and I'm white) and I'm going to New York soon and staying in Brooklyn for 5 days...I had no idea it was this rough until I came on youtube and started looking at Brooklyn videos to get an idea of what it's like before I go there. I'm going to get shot aren't I? :(
Sup man! I actually came back from a trip to NY a week ago (i'm from Denmark). I happened to stay in Brooklyn (in Bed Stuy where this place is situated as well - only like 4 blocks away.) I happened to look this video up because I walked past this housing project a couple of times and thought it looked pretty rough. I never felt threatened at any point - even though me and my girlfriend walked past at night. If anything I was VERY positively surprised by how friendly and warm the people in Bed Stuy was! Much nicer than the people in Manhattan. Brooklyns murder/crime rate has reduced drastically the last 10 ~ years - much of it due to tourism! But as anywhere else in the world make sure to take the right precaoutions :). My stay was absolutely incredible, hope yours will be as well. I know ill come back one day.

Glad to know you and your girlfriend felt safe (and at night) so hopefully I will too! I did a little research and there are some housing projects like in this video near to where i'll be staying, which made me feel nervous. But if you had a good experience then hopefully I will too!
