Who says that life will exist in one of the universes. What if life dosent exist in one of the cykels, but then is there in another cykle.
The big crunch also allows for the renewal of the universe and thus a cycle that can restart the building of life.
Heat death would allow us to exist for much longer though

I tried listening to the Shepard tone for 4 minutes straight, but no strange emotions came to me. However, when the Shepard tone decreased for around 20 seconds in "Big Rip" (2:49 - 3:11), it literally gave me goosebumps of fear. Amazing song!
