- 1. NO this modified radio doesn't emit unwanted harmonics.
2. Don't use this radio for TX on 27Mhz straight out of the box. See download link for mod.
TX power 4 watts into a Sirio Boomerang antenna.

Big thanks to Wander Lúcio / @wanderluciogomes
4w and using a Boomerang...well done buddy, great QSO.
Thanks yes amazing what can happen with good propagation
Lovely bud , well done 👍👊
Thanks nice to har from you
Hello. The output will be a few milliwatts. Quansheng emits iharmonics on the ama band when broadcasting on 27Mhz, which is bad. In the Czech Republic, it cannot be used on 27MHz because of harmonics. I use Egzumer FW. 73
yes out of the box you are correct but not this modified version.
@@DuanesMind
How do you have it modified so that the radio broadcasts as it should and without harmonics. At 27Mhz??
@@Charlie-Jn89dclow pass filter. anything above 30mhz will be filtered out.
Dangerous, unknown harmonics... not something I would do.
@@Ei2iP Dangerous?? The harmonics are known! Have you done the mod or just repeating what you hear from everyone else?
Awesome! What was the distance of this QSO?
About 1000km Sporadic E propagation.
Well the first watts are the biggest watts.
Watts not to important but a good antenna is the best and first option.
How are you trasmitting 4w through quansheng on 28mhz
there's a hardware mod available for 10/11m bands
@@DuanesMind is it difficult to do?
@@detjkimbell If you have the right tools then it's not to difficult. Then some SMD component work involved and making some coils.
@@DuanesMind anyway you could post a link to the hardware mod?
Are you transmitting DSB?
Wait, 27 MHz? How?!
These are as far as I know the most customizable HT. He's running custom firmware and hardware mods to be able to transmit on 27 MHz. I just got a couple of these radios myself and have already upgraded to a custom firmware but I'm still waiting for my hardware mod components to come in from China. I also ordered a 2 watt 8 ohm speaker to upgrade mine since the weak speaker is probably the biggest drawback to the Quansheng UVK5. Overall though they are awesome, especially for the price!
IJV 3.18 firmware and Harware modification
@@BackcountryGearShed yes very customizable and some clever people out there hacking the firmware. Speaker mic makes a huge difference in the audio quality.
