USED to watch it religiously, sadly, like other programmes, the people in charge have gone down the ‘woke’ road, totally spoiling it. Don’t watch it anymore.
It's all by design, I assure you. SO many agendas these soaps have been pushing for YEARS now. It comes from the "powers that be", Over 20 years ago they were pushing tr@ns bullshit.....then all the g@y stuff. Then throwing in endless deaths from cancer, to program people to EXPECT to die from it when there are SO many NATURAL cures. But they had someone die of it who TOOK natural cures.....SO wicked. Also propaganda re childhood vax.
I haven't watched since lockdown. The story lines became ridiculous and totally unbelievable. The same with Emmerdale. It became a competition between them, and in the process, they both forgot their roots 😢
It’s sad to see so many people who were part of my childhood and beyond now gone. And also thinking of my mum, grandma and aunty who used to watch religiously also now passed too. 😞
Jean Alexander ( Hilda), Lynne Perrie (Ivy Tilsley) Bernard Youens (Stan Ogden) There could be many others that I haven't mentioned , to create a part two perhaps?
I’m a bit of an old girl now and remember all these characters ❤ They were great days when they never disclosed their ideologies and politics. It’s why actors don’t last long now…We know to much from their platform blabbing. Back in the days actors were much easier to admire and love.
I live in Australia and when my mother was alive she was a huge Coronation Street fan. When I was about 10 we went to the City because Ena Sharples was in town.
It actually hurts seeing so many great actors and actress have passed away.. used to watch Corrie up till about 5 years ago.havent watched a single episode since.
Get over your self they we’re old on there death bed anyway and as u never new then personally and they were nothing more then actors it really ain’t that upsetting take a look around the world rite now
@@Millieannagal62 as an older person myself, it does hurt,it's the understanding these have now passed and my generation is next,,,. Don't count the days,, make the days count..
I remember my mum watching the first episode of Coronation Street and she was hooked!! I watched on and off until about twenty years ago when the storylines and characters became so ridiculous and haven’t watched it since ( except when I visit my sister, who watches it even though she hates it😂)
Was an avid watcher of The Street up till about two or three ago, loved those old characters and story lines My god it dropped off a cliff and I dare say viewing figures have dropped in recent years as well.
Same here, I watch the old ones on ITV 3 in the afternoon, but haven't watched today's ones for about 3 years now, it went woke & there just isn't any characters in it like there used to be, as you say, the viewing figures must have plummeted.
You know what I love about Corrie there loyalty still have photos up like Betty driver still in the rovers Albert still in Ken’s room I notice things like that and the story lines so very sad we lost so many actors
Thats when it was worth watching my late nana always watched coronation street when i was a young girl but back then it was annie walker elsie tanner and they always seemed to be in the snug of the rovers return this brings good memories back to me as my Nana's wee granddaughter my nana is what us in Scotland call a proper nana loved her so much still do and certain things that come on the telly or something happens takes me right back to the time i spent at her and my grandads house she had so much love for all her grandchildren and sadly she only got to see her first 2 great grandkids great memories
To the commenters whom are adding dead ones, the title explicitly offers just 24 that have died as in "24 corrie actors that have died", this video is to celebrate those 24, we all know there are others so don't panic as I'm sure there will be another video
The soap is 64 years old, it’s massively easy to find cast members who have died, with the exception of Bill Roach who plays Ken Barlow from the beginning, and the actors that played Christine and Dennis Tanner, all of the main cast are now dead
My mum was the absolute double of Pat Phoenix was from Manchester and had Irish/Spanish blood just like her too! She watched every episode of Corrie! ❤
My mum had a very striking resemblance to Doris Speed. I thought no more of it until I did my family history research. It turns out they were 3rd cousins. Doris's mother was Ada Worsley who was the daughter of Louisa Hornblow who was the daughter of Sarah Croft. Sarah's sister Mary Ann Croft is my 2 times great grandmother.
I literally (as in 'literally' ) bumped into Pat Phoenix at the doorway as she was leaving the Physio clinic when I arrived for my appointment. She was wearing a fur coat, and just said 'Hello Love..' and off she went, leaving me fairly bemused..
I met Pat Phoenix when I was very little , my mum took me to meet her at local carnival back in 1981 i think, I remember her to be a lovely ,friendly , glamorous lady , she as smoking with her cigarette in one of those posh holders upto her mouth …me and my mum had a black and white pic taken by photographer and I remember her signing a photo in blue pen …. She was a lovely lady x
Always promised my friend and his partner that I would travel to Manchester and graffiti my name on the Rovers Return, somewhere not easily seen. They used to get a great laugh from this. Little did I know, they ran tours on off-peak and I wouldn't have had a chance!!! RIP Kenny. McHale, you didn't want to burden anyone with your cancer and would not answer the door to visitors. One day I had enough and jumped a few high walls only to see him pottering around his kitchen. Obviously, he didn't want sympathy or to be treated differently as he was quite stoic. Still miss you buddy and all the help you gave me when I was at rock bottom. Stubborn fecker, I'll never forget you best pal. 😓😓😓😓
Daphne Oxenford, according to this, was born in 1990, died in 2012 and was 93 Even if it was supposed to be 1890, that’d be 122 years Something doesn’t quite add up here…
I'm not sure why the 'Ogdens' actors (Hilda & Stan) weren't mentioned, since I know they are both deceased. But the comedy surrounding them is what the Street now totally lacks. They seem to see themselves as a crime drama rather than a soap. I miss the laughs we used to have with Jack & Vera, too. The show now takes itself far too seriously.

@tinaoldfield7840 totally agree.
Is ‘woke’ supposed to be an insult? I find it is wrongly used as such by people who can’t spell, empathetic, educated and enlightened.
When Coronation Street was worth watching.
I stopped watching in about 2010 when it lost it's humour
It definitely isn't now,is it ?
I stopped watching it about 6 years ago.
It's pathetic now.
It's nothing like Coronation Street at all. 🤷🏻♀️
Completely agree, I stopped watch years ago, the actors are all Botox filled clones of each other
Was good back then before the woke crap came to town
It’s sad to see so many people who were part of my childhood and beyond now gone. And also thinking of my mum, grandma and aunty who used to watch religiously also now passed too. 😞
I took these actors for granted even though looking back their characters and performances were engrossing. The writers were 1st class too.
Jean Alexander ( Hilda), Lynne Perrie (Ivy Tilsley) Bernard Youens (Stan Ogden)
There could be many others that I haven't mentioned , to create a part two perhaps?
Beyond belief probably the the the best ever character Jean Alexander (hilda ogden) not mentioned more obscure ones are mentioned
I’m a bit of an old girl now and remember all these characters ❤ They were great days when they never disclosed their ideologies and politics. It’s why actors don’t last long now…We know to much from their platform blabbing. Back in the days actors were much easier to admire and love.
Real believable actors, superb at their craft. Pre woke of course.
Very well stated.
What the hell is woke?
I was Molly Suggdens bridesmaid 😂
What happened to Jean Alexander that played Hilda Ogden on this list?
she died
@@beaulieuc8910 yup, 3 days shy of her 91st birthday.
Went to last of summer wine
She left the street to go and work for Doctor Lowther
Stan and Hilda should have been on here as the two most iconic and best loved characters.
Alf Robert’s, Minnie Caldwell and Marta Longhurst…
Bernard Youens, Doris Speed? I'm sure there are lots more, though this doesn't claim to be an exhaustive list.
Doris speed was on speed. She's still alive but takes speed
Jill summers..... ? "Phyllis Pearce" , Stephen Hancock...? "Earnest Bishop" , Betty Alberge....? "Florrie Lindley" , Doreen Keogh...? "Concepta Riley"
I loved jack and vera there does not seem to be many laughs now in corrie its all doom and gloom its catching up to eastenders for being depressing

good times 2 watch in 70s great actors
Many great memories. Thank you so much for putting this together.
what about Brian Mosley (Alf Roberts)
And John Savident, who played Fred Elliot.
All the best actors have gone now leaving so so many am actors - Thanks to all of you who have passed away for the great Coronation Street.

I understand what you mean, it's as if we knew them ( brilliantly acted) we brought their characters in to our homes for years.

They were the best actors, enjoyed watching Corrie then
I miss Jack and Vera
Great video but you included lots of people who were short term cast members and left some major ones out like Jean Alexander , lynne Perrie .
Margot Bryant😊
Iv seen a lot of actors die Iv been watching Corrie since the 60 s I can go back to Annie Walker that was in the rovers return
Sarah Harding from Girls Aloud who appeared in a few episodes of Coronation Street passed away in 2021
A beautiful woman.
Harding croaked???
Miss them all..never watch it now but I still love to catch a glimpse Mary, Rita, Noris and Audrey..

This will need to be updated because of the one who played Fred died yesterday (had to rewrite because of a mistake, I say mistake)
He played Ashley's dad
It was Fred that died yesterday. Used to be the butcher. Roy owns the cafe

Coronation Street I've been watching since it came on the TV as it's the same age as myself 😅 give or take a month of each other. Never missed it.😊

A part 2 needed i think. . Corrie was always great with an older cast. .to many young wanabes in it now. .hence i dont watch it 😫
Most of the female actress lived well and looooong :)
Rip to all of them thanks for reminding me of some I had for got they was in the soap

The thing that gets me is that a lot of people who like these shows seem to think these are not actors/actresses but real people.
No mention of Lynne Perrie who played Ivy Tilsley
Most of the old cast from the 1970s are gone, only about 4 left
And Julie Goodyear is very unwell 🙁
