Synopsis: Dave Seville teams up with three musically-inclined chipmunks in order to make a mark in the industry. However, Ian Hawk, a greedy record producer, tries to split the group and exploit the chipmunks.

This movie series is very cute, funny, and nostalgic for me, with good music too. I think it was a good adaptation of the cartoons. And i also like that these character designs resemble actual chipmunks.
Watch the sequels, they are fun too.

IDK I had mixed feelings about the sequels
My grandma kept the original Alvin & the Chipmunks album from like 1959 that my mom & her siblings listened to. We insisted that she play it every time we came to visit. So I knew the Chipmunks well before they became movie stars. 😊
We all wanted a hula hoop back then. My goal was to roll it down a hill upright. If it fell over? Try again. I never actually used it the way it was intended.

Back in the 1950s, Ross Bagdasarian heard a 45 record accidentally sped up to 78 mph & he thought that sounded like "Chipmunks," and so Alvin & The Chipmunks were born, Ross became "David Seville."
They hold the record as their song, "The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don't Be Late)" became the first-ever Christmas song to hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart in December 1958 (it stayed there for three weeks). It held that record until Mariah Carey finally tied them with "All I Want For Christmas Is You."

you should definitely react to the other ones. 2nd one is better than the first in my opinion, and the best one (imo) is the third one. most recent one isn’t as good as the others but it’s still good.

I think the squeal was funnier then the 1st movie.

I remember as a child watching this, after watching the first movie i was so shocked seeing the chipmunks literally everywhere, on ads, brands, and everthing

Fun fact, the woman that plays Claire in this is also in a tv show called Harper's Island... And she plays my fave character in it! Definitely a bit weird and whack, but it's a fun one to binge :~)

Hey Seb, this is Denzel. Just to let you know, this movie was the first movie I've ever seen in the theater as a kid. Since then obviously, I went to see an Eiffel Tower amount of movies ever since 2007. If you choose to react to the sequels, that's great. You're going to enjoy them just like I did.

No way! 😂 The amount of time I've watched this lmfao its actually a great message about substance vs substantial (real love and family whatnot), the soundtrack is a throw back, david cross is legendary, the slap stick is hilarious, and I used to watch these episodes of Alvin and the Chimpunks we had recorded on a VHS, it was two halloween episodes 'jeckyl and hyde', and 'curse of the warewolf' or something so Im biased and already love the chimpmunks 😂 my 4 year old even LOVES this movie more than I do lol she laughs at every joke and even quotes it, "Kowabunga!", "I GOT IT , I GOT IT.. i dont got it" 😂

I used to watch this movie all the time as a kid and surprisingly enough it STILL bothers me that in the first jett records scene the Service dog (for the blind man) loses its mind barking at the chipmunks, which would not happen because they go through extensive training with all sorts of things so they don’t react. Not the message I think the movie was trying to give but definitely the one that stuck 😂
This movie was TRULY revolutionary! Alvin and the chipmunks was one of the best movies of the 2000’s and completely changed cgi in movies forever! Without this movie the first Iron man DEFINITELY wouldn’t have cgi as good as it was. The character arcs of Dave and the chipmunks really set the foundation for the first Star Wars that came 30 years before it. I mean this movie was really ahead of it’s time! This film single-handedly inspired Christopher Nolan and Steven Spielberg! This IS the movie of all time!!!
Yet today it sucks and is corny and mediocre, just shows how much we have evolved in the movie industry

As stupid as this sounds, this movie really shows the toxic side of the music industry. Ian manipulated and overworked and the chipmunks the same way certain other artists were/are by their management.
I grew up with the cartoon (the 80’s one) so the chipmunks are huge parts of my childhood

Alvin and the chipmunks was the cartoon I grew up on so I guess at least as far back at the 90s
The sequel- excuse me, The Squeakquel, is really good! Chipwrecked is eh but inoffensive, and Road Chip is utterly forgettable. Second one is definitely my favorite of the bunch!
This movie and the sequels are basically a docu on real life child stars on how they get exploited and how they’re drugged up to keep their energy like fore example when he gave them caffeine to boost their energy aka referencing how they did that to kids irl getting them addicted to drugs bc they’re exhausted so they have energy

They did a great job of making Alvin & The Chipmunks modern when this came out! I still perfer 1980's version over the modern or 1960's version... but I'm biased 😂😊

Ross Bagdasarian Jr & His wife are the singing voices for the Chipmunks. All studio recorded singing has some degree of autotune but they're actually pretty good singers. As for their talking voices: Justin Long for Alvin, Jesse McCartney for Theodore & Mathew Gray Gubler for Simon from Criminal Minds.
Not all of the songs would be by Ross Bagdasarian knowing his age, some others would be involved and they would edit the sound and add some auto tune probably
@musaedits1115 Why not? This movie came out in 2007, and he was only 57 years old. Plenty of singers still sing at that age. I already mentioned without a doubt there'd be autotune. As for the last movie? I don't know. However, I do know that him and his wife were the singing voices for the chipmunks in the first 3 movies. I did a lot of research behind it. When using the technique they use to make their voices, age doesn't really matter. They're both incredible vocalists either way.
