The comparative safety and efficacy of acute stenting during endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) versus delayed treatment with carotid endarterectomy is one major area of investigation. Dr Cavalcante also highlights the importance of prevention and improved medical management, especially for patients with cardiac risk factors.
