Rancid. What can I say? The louder you play their music the better it sounds. I'm blasting this on my 18 inch speaker at 9:00 in the morning. I'm 41 and I've been listening to Rancid since I was 16. Rancid never gets old.
I like how the camera goes to Tim who just directs the attention to Matt
kingdom7777777 exactly !!!!!!!!!
Dudes like:
Tf you looking at? Look at him!
Matt sounds like he drinks motor oil.. I love it.
He had problems with his throat a few years ago.
He sounds pretty hardcore
@@juankayer
didn't Matt and Tim both used to smoke? I think Matt still might. could be wrong?
@@TheLarryburns84 Lyrics might be autobiographical: "Driving ten hours until my eyes are blurry
Three packs of Winstons and a bag of seeds"
Sounds like Alex Jones
Ten years later still listening to this track, love Matts voice, Love all three voices to be fair, such an awesome band
I grew a beard from listening to Matt's singing.
You win the internet ! Thats fuckin makin me laugh way to hard man......smfh lmao
So did Tim.
I'm sure society and testosterone played equal parts.
Peter Bolt very true
Thank you, thank you.
30 years of love Matt is the man. I could listen to his raw voice all day long their is something so amazing and honest in this song. Peace and love to all, someday maybe every will stop hating it is about love, life, success, failure and what we learn along the way i am almost 59 and after all these years this song puts a smile on my face and feeling in my heart " You left in a plane, I left in van" reality of class life Punk is a fashion it is a way of life
Matt's voice is so sick man
Thank you so true
Even though the video is basically the band playing while Matt kills it on bass and the mic, the shots of NYC and 50s-60s traffic are really cool and fits this song very well. Rancid
This is NYC? I thought it looked like Oakland. Then again, a lot of cities look similar.
@@theevildrummingsithlord1492 There are several different cities. I can definitely pick out Chicago (where I live) and New York (where I'm from). I don't know the others, but if you see Oakland in there, you're probably right.
@@kevinconnor6035 That makes sense. I just saw a part that looked so much like Oakland (could be my mind playing tricks on me though).
This must be the most chills-inducing track on Rancid 2000. Only other moment on the album that gives me as much chills is Tim's little story at the end of GGF.
Today's Matt Freeman's birthday! .......just love this song, one of my favourite!
exactlyy, Dont forget to watch my Rancid bass cover! thankss
Masterpiece. It just flows so blissfully from beginning to end
Yeah, you have nothing to fall back on...But damn, Matt, you made it! You have plenty of money and security! I'm a 49 year old hardcore kid-pink rock-skinhead. I love this music and scene. I'm so happy and proud of RANCID! I've been with you guys since the Lookout Recs. 7"! I remember getting it when it came out in Ann Arbor, MI! I fucking loved it--and every album since! RANCID never sold out. "Let's Go" got me through my first detox/rehab--sick, hurting and suicidal due to heroin and alcohol withdrawal that went on for a fucking month--listening to that and CRANBERRIES "Everybody's Doing I" in my three-man room. I spent that month scrounging for change to go buy a rope & use it..."Let's Go!" gave me just a little hope, and slowly but surely I believed I could be happy--I didn't need dope and booze--I got some more hope, confidence, and faith. Listening to that CD almost nightly, sometimes bawling my eyes out for what I did to my family & friends, while not letting my two bunkies see this tough heroin addict crying! I've cried a lot since then, and unfortunately went to treatment twenty-three more times, jail, etc. Bottom line, there's just too much hardcore & punk that I need to discover or stagedive too, fanzines to be read, and life to be lived! (Well, these lyrics could be written by Aaron Cometbus, they're fucking epic & poetic!) I remember all that frivolous drama and shit-talking from the mid 90s, after "Radio" blew up, and then AOCTW (which is on my ten perfect, PERFECT albums! A few CLASH records and MISFITS/SAMHAIN, STRIFE "One Truth", LIFETIME "Background", DANZIG s/t, couple more...BUZZCOCKS "Singles Going Steady" (technically not an album, I guess) some other albums with longevity). Punk rock has intervened in my death of life, many times! You guys made a living and had a blast, an adventure really. Success couldn't have happened to a cooler group of guys!! God bless you and keep going!
Fave thing about this band is that there are 3 difference voices and no 2 sound the same. Awesome bunch of vocalists that all have their own unique take on the genre
My favorite song on the record. Matt Freeman has always been way underated, i just got the Devils Brigade record it's awesome, Matt is the man
Not underated, he is part of one of the best punk band ever, totally rated Matt
I love when Matt sings.
penny bjorkland then you'd love the devil's brigade, Matt's side project
Yes the early shows and songs are so dope Matt sing a lot.
Thank you thank you
Matt Freeman is the most punk rock vocalist on the planet. Tim and Lars are sick, but I wish Matt sang lead on more Rancid songs.
Books on Emerson books on Thoreau
But all I read was maps of the road
And I was three thousand miles away from you
All the while I was twenty-two
What do you do to know who you are?
The best way for me to drop out on tour
You went to upstate NY (New York) to go to school
To secure the roll with your parents
I got a new perspective on you
All the good and bad that we went through
I know you better than you know you
Cause I got a new perspective on you
I never needed much, I never liked to loom
But a gesture can get me from across the room
The first night we talked until while the sun caught up
Transparent people melting all around us
You left in a plane, I left in a van
Played nightclub house-parties and auditoriums
Saw Germany England Italy with my band
I know you better than your new friends
I got a new perspective on you
All the good and bad that we went through
I know you better than you know you
Cause I got a new perspective on you
Ford Econdlane September '93
Driving ten hours until my eyes are blurry
Three packs of Winstons and a bag of seeds
Tapes of "x" and a thermos of coffee
Six weeks on and ten days off
Then I go back on the road for another show
This is all that I've ever done
Girl I got nothing to fall back on
"But I got a new perspective on you All the good and bad that we went through
I know you better than you know you 'Cause I got a new perspective on you"
Tape SELECTION not "tapes of x" ffs
@@KevPage-Witkickerit's tapes of x
This song saved my life
how?
yeh how.!
keith hepburn Me too. Lifeline in some heartbreak.
This is at least the 3rd time I have seen someone on RUclips say that a song saved their life recently. I guess we should be happy for you, but sad that it takes a song to make that big a difference in your life.
@@danielscissorhands it can be a simple thing. Like everything else in your day to day life doesn't make sense. And a great song can comfort you during such a time
Let 👏 Matt 👏 do 👏 vocals 👏 more 👏
Jokes aside, this song is one of my favorites. It does physically hurt me every time I see a comment comparing Matts voice to Dropkick Murphys
Skankin Witch he does sound a bit like dropkick murphys though. Not exactly the same but i can see why people think it.
Sam J yeah, i kinda hear it... I still love dropkick murphys and rancid lmao
I consider them both really good
@@SamJ-mt6tn Just like Al Barr. Also, Dropkick Murphys's drummer is named Matt and he's insanely good (also keeps a lower profile).
Best Rancid album along with Out come the woves.
Matt has one of the best voices in the business hands down love this song
his voice....
This is rancid’s most underrated song. Matt is nasty.
Awhile back i heard this song & thought "Who the hell is singing? That can't be Tim or Lars!" This is the 1st time i've ever seen the video & i was like Holy shit Matt sings too?!?! Reading the comments they pretty much nailed it, if Animal was a Viking, fucking A man!
You should Check out Black and Blue and Detroit, also great Songs sung by Matt.
He sang pretty often on their older stuff, amazing vocalist and bass Player.
Operation Ivy, Tim's and Matt'f First band are pretty amazing and Matt kills it on Bass!
Cheers from Germany ! ✌️
+Lars Schwarze if you haven't already listend to them (:
How I love this song!
Crazy how one band can have three such amazing vocalists, with such unique and different voices.
This one was the first song where I heard Matt's voice, back when the album was released. I almost fell of my chair the moment he started singing :D
Gotta love his basslines. And about that you can find tons and tons of comments on RUclips. But I wanna say: He should definitely sing more as well. Will now listen to "Rejected" next.
True!
Perhaps the most gravely voice in punk, great base player as well
Mighty Mighty Bosstones?
+MDGolfaddict Neck and neck with Jorge from the Casualties
He sound like he's gargling Kermit the frog.
Best bassist evarrrr
Leatherface's singer haha
one of the best songs ever
I can't stop listening to this song, come to argentina!!!
One of, If not, my favorite Rancid song.
Matts bass playing and singing is impressive in this song
I love the way Tim and Lars sing but Matt has a weird yet beautiful voice, he should totally sing more songs.
After decades of careful consideration (and my opinion on the matter changing several times), I have decided that this is the best Rancid song.
Love the ones that Matt sings lead.
I had a bad break-up. right now this is the song that gives the mot juste!!
One of the best songs ever written
really love his voice..
このアルバム聴いた時、久しぶりにマットの歌声が聴けてとても嬉しかった。
Rancid 2000's Ballad track.
Matt is a great artist and Rancid an absolute band!
0:05
tim's like:
dude, shoot him not me, stupid cameraman
I see it more like "it's time to my man Matt to shine!"
This song was the best on that album for my money. Radio Havana was good, but none of them grew up around Cuba. This one is straight from the heart.
"Never needed much, I never liked to loom
But a gesture can get me from across the room
The first night we talked until while the sun caught up
Transparent people melting all around us"
Damn, you have just never been in love until you and your lover are the "only ones" in loud and populated room. Like Matt's, that one got away from me, too.
Doug Taylor Truth. Utter truth.
Let Me Go, Antennas, Radio Havana and this are my faves
Let Me Go is a criminally underrated Rancid track.
Freeman's the best punk hardcore bassist without equal. 25 years an counting I've listened to these guys.... Keep shreddin
Best Rancid album
hugely underrated.
Good luck getting this out of your head.
Matt is a good vocalist. He reminds me of the singer from Capital Punishment. Oh to all you who didn't grow up in Oakland Berkeley area Matt was in that band early 90s before rancid. Little history for ya!
love this song
I wish I had a voice like like this guy
Awesome. I’ll never get tired of listening to this and the nostalgia it brings. A teenager trying to find myself. No one knew me like rancid
oooooh a Matt lead song? A rare treat. I shall savor this.
Best Matt's song ever!!
Great song
Wore one in 1980, and I still wear a Black Derby
I've been listening to rancid since I was a teenager, I owned every CD haha. I never realized how good this song was.
"WHAT DO U DO WHEN U KNOW WHO U ARE?....THE BEST WAY FOR ME IS TO DROP OUT ON TOUR!!!!!" M. FREEMAN IS RANCID RHYTHM!!!
Matts best song easy
This should be held as one of the Top 5 best Rancid songs. Ruby Soho, Radio, Journey, Derby, Hyena.
Makes my eardrums happy👌
I read somewhere that Tim suggested to Matt that they both write a song about this relationship. Matt came up with this, and Tim came up with Ruby Soho. Both great songs from two different perspectives.
Attached singing is just mint
I love every bass on this album, best of Matt
The first time I heard him sing, Matt Freeman's voice was so manly
love tims discharge jacket
one of the top 5 best rancid songs ever!!
Tapes of X and a thermos of coffee. I think about that line alot
One of my favorites of all time.
One of my fav rancid track!! Much love from italy
Such a great song. Matt's vocals are awesome.
Facts of being a 22 yr old touring musician in love
TWENTY. YEARS. AGO. 😫
I once saw a comment from someone saying every Rancid album was better when Matt sang on it and I wholeheartedly agree.
I love the Matt's guitar solo in this song. I think Rancid should have more guitar solos.
This song keeps me alive xx
Think this is my favourite unreleased video. The old archive footage works really well. Also love the way Tim redirects the cameraman over to Matt at the start..
I think this is only video of Matt Freeman with s a mohawk
matt needs to sing more, his voice just fits the style/beat and hes a good singer overall. And this song is just great
Matt sounds like the singer of Capital Punishment. Aye! Bet you didn't know he played bass for them in the 80's. Little fact for yall!
Never forget the melody.
Matt's got some dope vocs!!
Matt Freeman is our favorite bassist. If Santino could play half as good as he does, we would be more than delighted :)
I love how in the begining of the video, it almost looks like Tim's gonna sing but then he points to Matt :D
Axiom bass solo is freaking kickass.
He sings like you would imagine a bass player to sing haha. I love Matt.
I have the cd and I wasn't sure if it was matt or lars singing
I wish Matt sang on more songs. He seemed to sing on fewer and fewer Rancid songs as time went by
Love his voice! like a Viking!
Bard as fuck
Victory or Valhalla !!!
Favorite Rancid video. Period.
Voice of a fucking angel!
All the good and bad that rancid went through! this is one of their best
Punk rock yeah
"what do you do when you know who you are?...the best way for me is to drop out on tour", brilliant! M.F
MAtt looks weird with a mohawk. i can imagine Tim and Lars convincing him to get one haha
like i have been listening to dropkick murphys :)
Aw man, I absolutely love this song, truly amazing! And now there's a kick ass video for it :) Now I can die hap..
I just read the lyrics for the first time, and they're fucking great!! He writes like Aaron Cometbus!
The best Freeman's song !!!
Power cord downstroke picking bass + singing..all hail matt freeman🤟
oh my god how young! wish we were all that young again At any rate I just found some new (old) rancid
His part in 'Disconnected' is pretty awesome!
He looks too relaxed to have a voice like that!
Matt should sing more.
matt freeman rules as a singer
