This is a great Interview! It's so enlightening and gives great info about the GODFATHER of SOUL. Deanna Brown seems to be so humble and you tell that she really loves her dad and is very proud of him. It shows that James Brown was also a great father.
I have no problem believing he was a strict father. Didn't seem like a man who would take any crap off anybody. She certainly benefitted from that. You can tell she really loved her daddy.

I saw James Brown when I was in the 8th grade. He shook my hand and when I got home, I told my parents I was never washing dishes again😂 He is my favorite male entertainer, I had a major crush on him😂 My dad let me go 2 days without washing dishes. On the 3rd day, he grabbed my hand and wiped away the James Brown touch and said you are going to wash dishes around here, Connie. i cried and my mom told that he was wrong for doing that😂

JAMES BROWN IS A GOD-GIVEN TALENT. There are so many black folk who have a raw talent that is OUT OF THIS WORLD. James Brown is a great example as are Louis Armstrong, Oscar Peterson, Wilt Chamberlain, Physicist Mae Jamison., Sarah Vaughan.
I grew up in Chicago, Illinois, in the 60s, when blacks were dealing with racism and with the death of Martin Luther King. My very first recognition of James Brown is when his song came out entitled, "Say it loud, I'm Black, and I'm proud!" I have since, loved many of his songs, but that one in particular, is special to me as I feel it was very much needed at that time and helped contribute to the self esteem of those in the black communities.
