I aquired a 2005 Yamaha 1700 midnight star the guy had a crash in restarea 6 weeks ago.Well he cranked it and gas was running out the carb.I took it apart and the fuel in the bottom of the bowl was white and turned to jelly..I just laid the carb on its side and got lucky with bowl screws. Carb wasnt bad it was just fuel..Anyways its super easy on a 1700 to..No more fuel out the carb and someone did nice job on the jetting because i just put it back on it sounds awsome..And trained the tank as well gas already had that stink..2 gallon methane free 2 shots of B12..I will have to change the oil again as it was just change before i got it but it had strong gas smell because of the carb im guessing.Just like a riding lawnmower with them nikkli carbs thats bad fills ya cranks case with gas. This just has strong smell in oil..Yours turned out nice...Enjoyed and sorry for the rant..😂 ❤
Just now buying my cousin’s 2003 VStar 1100 that’s been sitting in his garage for 4 years. It’s the same bike I had until 2007 and was my favorite one. Thanks for this video, it’s exactly what I was looking for to see what I’m looking at to get it running!
Just cleaned up a 6k mile 650 that sat for 10 years (hence the 11 year old state inspection sticker) I had to pay for that one, but it will make a great bike for someone next spring.
The vx650 is a great running and forgiving bike. IMO it is a perfect entry into a cruiser without being too anything..Not under or over powered....low ride height for handling and landing gear..Bigger feel bike without being 600 lbs.
Any idea what the line with the filter looking thing sticking up between the carbs that connect to the air filter are called bc mines missing and I need one
That all depends on where you live. Not all states have non-ethanol fuel. I am lucky enough that I can find it pretty much everywhere. But you're correct... using non-ethanol fuel is the best option for any small aluminum engines.
Less than a minute in, noticed the Star logo. That Yamahog is gunna run.

It’s a Yamaha! Definitely gonna run, 😉 no worries!
Well done vid! That chrome and paint combo would photograph nicely 💯
Once a Vstar starts gagging on the choke you have to gradually reduce it until it will idle on its own. Ask me how I know.
Been a motorcycle mechanic for about 25 years and thanks for the advice.

Crankcase breather 👍
15:36- shut off the choke!
Thank for the help.
Use non ethanol gas in it! Never anything else
