William Shatner versus Neil deGrasse Tyson - the gloves are off! Alice Tully Hall on 17th March 2024

  • The verbal sparring between William Shatner and Neil deGrasse Tyson was hilarious at the Q&A following Shatner's new movie, You Can Call Me Bill. Both gentlemen displayed quick wits and great dexterity with sardonic put-downs and funny one-liners. The talented documentary film director Alexandre O. Philippe barely managed to get a word in edgeways.
Thanks to Legion M for putting on the event, and to the Lincoln Centre, NYC, for the use of the beautiful Alice Tully Hall.

Honestly, I was very happy, for Mr. Shattner, when Ibkearnedvthat he flew (Bezos) intonspace! Brings almost tears into my eyes, becausevin thec69, 70tie Star Trekbwith Janes D Kirk, was a part of our family. (Germany) And imagn, this time back, all the equitment the used that tine, in the series, is now outdated..
P S. Because usally, I do not like, to put private persons and so on , into space, the earth has huge problems, pollution, plastic, to many people, food problem, and the money would be better investetd.
But in Mr. Shattners case ❤❤❤❤❤

As for the next generation, they don't need hope, they need knowledge. They have been lied to but the truth is there are always winners and losers and it's a combination of hard work, intelligence, politics and luck that determines who is who.
If you work hard and fix the politics, you have a chance. If you are smart, that helps too but luck is the main thing because I know a guy with a horrible physical disability who is quite successful but there are only a few places in this world where a man can get the opportunity to try to do the things that he is so good at.
There is not much hope for a kid born on a farm in China, to them success is moving to a city to work in a sweat shop.
I had to train a kid like that once. His ambition was to buy an apartment in Chengdu. Imagine working hard your whole life with only a crappy apartment in the armpit of China to show for it.
Make sure you are working for yourself, even if you are working a job, make sure you are benefiting from your labor.
That means get rid of every socialist, make governments small. Hold on to every bit of freedom you have and try to get back everything you have lost.
There is one way to fix China and all the other third world countries that are massive polluters (because they have things like hunger to worry about instead), we have to get the next generation to stand up for themselves, dream and not accept the path that leads to war, death, genocide and poverty.

For it is accepted buffonery to believe in big bang. Whatever other type of buffoon you are thinking, is surely out of bounds.

This was a great discussion - PROPS to everyone, especially Bill being 92 years of age - he still looks like himself!
I MISS having Star Trek available to WATCH - "hey lets watch Spock kill Kirk over his girlfriend..." or Balock w\his Tranya - Spock hanging frrom a tree etc.
Star Trek TOS, in my opinion is a NATIONAL TREASURE, I DON'T appreciate how TOS is now behind a PAY WALL!
ALL my life StarTrek was ON TV in one form or another you could easily find it - UNTIL NOW!
Last summer, one time I had said to my wife "...you never seen that Ep of TOS where Kirk and Spock 'Got a Piece of the Action'..."
Then I remembered TOS is no longer on any of the popular platforms - Netflix, Hulu etc!
    That's DAMN SHAME, SMH... 😔😪
