I almost bought Tweety when it was for sale in Tulsa, but I ended up with a 2017 500e and it is a great little around town car with some of the same limitations as the SmartEV.
I think I was just behind this thing in Denver. Big TFL sticker on the back window and everything. And the plate read... Tweety, written in partly numeric characters.
A huge temptation. Up here in Loveland as a retired nurse, I drive literally mo more than 5 to 10 miles a day. Tesla and other electric vehicles are difficult to justify because I would never live long enough to justify the additional cost. Great video as always!
@@Ijusthopeitsquick I agree, the car with its short wheelbase must ride like a Pogo Stick. And a crash with another SUV, despite Smart cars having a 'safety cage' the smaller car will absorb the brunt of the forces.
Hey Tommy! I used to have a spark ev with DCFC capability it was a 2015. If you pick that at a great price you won't regret it. They are really fun to drive!
Sad to hear, you have to sell your beauty. Such a nice car, if it wasn't on the other end of the world (I'm from Germany), I would be very interested in it: The coolest part of it are the yellow panels. They where pretty rare, as they actually where intended for the smart fortwo edition cityflame. You where only able to get a smart with them, that’s not a expensive city flame edition, for a short time. Also nice is the interior of your smart, I’m not sure how and why, but it looks like it’s a tailormade smart, even tho it isn’t. Funfact: You can get both, the cruise control and regen pedals, but that's veeery rare.
I have a 16 fiat 500e. Feels a lot more an the Smart with the added bonus of a backseat. Also another underrated car. EPA claims 87 miles. Highest I’ve yielded was 109. If you switch out to a wider tire, handling improves dramatically. Almost as good as a Miata.
I think the biggest hurdle for EVs to cross isn’t necessarily the Distance or Time of Charging but rather mandating that Apartment Complex’s must have a wall charger... it’s one thing to buy it, it’s another completely getting the owner and landlord to agree upon it...
There was girl at work that had one, and the strange thing about that car was even though I saw it every day. Every time I saw it I was like what the f*ck.
Does your mechanic have his own channel? If not you should assist him with starting one. I love when he is in your videos, he explains things so thoroughly. BTW, Tweety would be perfect for the 1.5 mile drive to the Park-n-Ride bus stop across the street from my neighborhood.
That's a 50 amp plug, that would be for a kitchen range. The four wire range plug has three straight prongs and one round prong. If it was for a dryer it would only be a 30 amp rated plug, and it would have two straight prongs one L shaped prong and one circular prong. I can't believe you're getting rid of that thing. You love it. I guess you gotta stay fresh. I've been watching you guys for years and I got to say your quality just gets better. You've come along way, and we love it.
You should buy a Mitsubishi I-Miev. It is based on a 660cc Kei car and really a great little car. I've owned many micro cars including a Smart ForTwo and Scion IQ and driving the I-Miev reminds me of a 4-door Smart. I own a 2012 I-Miev and a 2019 Tesla M3 DM and actually prefer to drive the Mitsu for local runs as it's just so ridiculously easy to drive and has great visibility and utility. Believe it or not, Mitsubishi is still building these! 2020 is the last year however for the global market. They are not fast, but they keep up plenty well with traffic and will blaze along at 70 mph no problem when you need it to. Mine has the optional CHAdeMO port which will charge up the car to 80% in 10 minutes. Necessary for longer road trips.

Just remember the smart car was designed and meant for the old European countries and small tight roads that was built a couple thousand years ago that are 8 feet wide.Petro is expensive and same as electricity but not as much as diesel/gasoline.The range is only to commute around town to town that’s about ten kilometres to each other and driving in big cities to work and home only.In North America that vehicle just doesn’t cut it.Big cars, cuv and giant trucks and suv will decimate and crush that thing if it was in a major pile up collision.
Totally agree it's the best city driven car ever. However, people looked at me like if I were riding a dinosaurs, and even mocked at me. Eventually, I switched to Tesla.
