Drag racing basics: Tire screws

It just sounds funny to say tire screws? its very counter intuitive to want to put a screw in your tire however, they are a real thing. A very helpful one. What do tire screws do? They keep your tire holding on to your rim so that the tire doesn't spin on the rim. This helps with traction being consistent and some say make the tires last longer. Do you recommend over inflating the tire before putting screws in ?

I usually have 5-8lbs in the tire when I put the screws in. We pop them on the bead. Let them set a day to take a set then let the air down and put the the screws in.
