I have been buying these notebooks for over a year now and they are fabulous. No issues with heavy fountain pen use. Love these

Always appreciate a tip re. budget friendly notebooks, thanks James. Nice quote from the eminently quotable, GKC.

Looks like a good paper and pad. Two things I wish it had: rings on the top and a true hard cover as I usually find myself writing on my lap.
    Very nice review, James.

Thanks, Paul. I agree on the top spiral. Those are definitely my preference.

The newer notebooks have less bleeding and ghosting, so it looks like they did a slight updating to the paper (the more pastel colors they introduced about a year ago).

Might not have noticed, but do they have perforated pages for clean removal? Almost every paper reviews from anyone tend to be for notebooks or journals, and nothing for writing letters.
I've discovered that some of the older brands of inks, with standard inks, tend to behave well with many papers. For example, I've had great success with Waterman inks on some really cheap copy paper forms. No bleeding, ghosting or feathering. Even with a medium nib.
So many different inks out there today... 😁

Unfortunatly, they are not perforated. I would sure like them to be.
I’ll have to look into letter writing papers. I’ve found that those I used to buy at brick & mortar stores are mostly gone now. I do have a set of loose-leaf paper I’m going to review soon that someone suggested in the comments a while back. I haven’t yet opened that up yet, though.
You’re right about the inks. I don’t have anything handy inked up with Waterman, but I’m sure it would have done well. The Pelikan, which I don’t think I mentioned by name, did well (Königsblau/Royal Blue, in the V’sign).

@JG3Reviews I regularly have to fill out forms for the doctors I see, plus the truly awful copy paper forms for my current apartment hunting. It's always a standard ink and usually an extra fine nib. Like the Esterbrook 2550 I've really liked, (extra fine posting, originally for accounting) and Waterman Mysterious Blue. Not "schoolboy washable blue," and meets the traditional "not black for original copies." 😁
Much as I've been vocal about not liking many blue inks, it's becoming a goto, along with Serenity Blue.

Pen + Gear has some good ink-friendly paper in some of their notebooks. They're a staple on my work desk.

Thanks. Seems like a lot of show-through for 100gsm paper. Where is the paper made? China? Vietnam?

The majority of complaints on Amazon talk about the back cover and pages coming out f the spiral binder. Can you speak to this?

I haven't had this issue with mine so far, and I've been to Alaska and back with it.

For those of us that are a little more comfortable with traditional American paper measurements, 100 GSM is just a tiny bit lighter than 28 lb. bond. Actually 28 lb. bond is equal to 105 GSM.
